The Corridor of European importance, which passes through Bosnia and Herzegovina, is Corridor V- branch C with general orientation Budapest (Hungary) - Osijek (Croatia) - Sarajevo (BIH) - Mostar (BIH) Ploce - (Croatia). General recommendation of Pan European Conferences is to respect specific standards for designing, construction of new and reconstruction of existing communications. In inland transport, such standards have been defined by TEM j (Trans European Motorways) and TER ( Trans European Railways ) activities. TER standards are mainly following already defined recommendations, arisen from agreements for inclusion into major railway lines in Europe. Such agreements are AGC [ for major lines in railway traffic and AGCT for freight and combined transport. Railway line Bosnski Samac - Sarajevo - Capljina - Plo6e was enlisted into these agreements even before the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, followed by the commitment to meet defined standards. The most important element of such standards is train speed in operation, which is foreseen to be as follows: l1 For passenger trains: For freight trains: 160 km/h 120 km/h with 20 ton axle load, and 100 km/h with 22,5 ton axle load In order to define more concerne alignment to-future Corridor Vc, it is necessary to carry out the Opportunity Study for Selection of Railway liwn Alignment within Corridor. stated Such Study would respect basic elements of TEFstandards, followed by local f terrain conditions, construction costs, operation cost aid1mpact on environment. This Study will be used also, after adoption by appropriate Entities and [ j BIH Institutions, for protection of corridor from the other constructions. LI Cost estimation I mill. Euro L I.20
