1 San Martino di Castrozza, Passo Rolle, Primiero e Vanoi excursion Itineraries ski facilities and runs natural park paneveggio pale di san martino
2 The purpose of this guide is to provide an overall view of these areas and their trekking and alpinism potentials for tourists coming to this area for the first time. Proposed itineraries homogeneously stretch throughout the area, from simple walks on grass to high altitude trekking. Excursion trails have been drawn in cooperation with the Alpine Guides of San Martino di Castrozza and Primiero. They suggest that trekking and excursion activities should always been done with appropriate training and safe weather conditions, especially for high altitude trekking, where weather conditions may change suddenly, even in summer, and cause difficulties to people who are not properly prepared. Time calculated for described itineraries is only referred to outward trips. Trekkers should duly calculate return time. Right and left indications are always referred to walking direction. For the sake of simplicity, itineraries follow the same direction to go and come back, also where digressions or variations are possible. Travelling times have been calculated not too tight (approximately 300 metres altitude difference per hour going uphill) without considering stops. In order not to make descriptions of itineraries too complex, all references to accommodation or shelter facilities along the trails, as well as other useful information, are listed at the end of the guide. For any further and more detailed information on other itineraries or climbing, please read some of the many specialized publications sold in bookstores in the valleys. For further information on described trails or for any changes, please ask Alpine Guides, who are ready to provide suggestions; they also organize excursions for anybody wishing to have a mountain approach in a responsible and educational way. p a g e 2
