11 10 Why the first focus on Cruise Lines? cruise ships have a high energy-demand even in ports, where they stay 40% of there running time cruise ships stay relatively close to living areas cruise ships endanger also their clients cruise market is still growing cruise companies advertise with clean environment and their good performance cruise companies are also economical sensitive for public pressure because of ecological underperforming

13 12 Cruise Lines: Conclusions Companies operating on German / EU market such as AIDA, TUI, HAPAG Lloyd Cruises are doing better Sustainability less corporate attitude but more market driven approach and Demands Clean exhaust gases (LNG or other clean fuels, abatement technology) OPS at berth for all ships General ban of HFO

15 Ports: Proposals and Demands Installation and preparation of onshore-power-supply (OPS)- equipment attractive, competitive price for renewable-energy from OPS Mandatory use of OPS when available and cruise ship already OPSready Incentive for OPS-prepared to OPS-ready within corridor of three years.
