2 Page 2 Newsletter Trondheim CRUISE EXCURSIONS IN TRONDHEIM 11 new excursions this year This year all of 11 new tours were added to the existing program. We focused on creating more active tours as well as family tour offers. Due to the opening of the food hall in the city centre, we can also offer a culinary excursion. Next year we will mainly work with more winter offers, since we expect more calls during off-season in If you wish to take part in a site inspection, we would love to make that happen! We are always interested in feedback and ideas on how to improve the existing offers, and we love to work with you on providing the most interesting and memorable experience for your passengers. 10% discount in the city centre and free Wi-Fi TRONDHEIM LOVES TOURISTS The shops and stores in Trondheim s city centre offered 10% discount for all cruise tourists and crew members in 2015 and will again in 2016! The tourist information is open everyday including Sundays. They have the best variety of souvenirs and free Wi-Fi! The Food Hall Mathall Trondheim opens on weekdays already at 7 am. There is no doubt that Trondheim wants you to visit and be satisfied with your stay! 99% satisfied with Trondheim and 42% on excursion PASSENGER SURVEY According to the survey we conducted this year, 99% of the cruise tourists were satisfied with their visit to Trondheim! During the summer 7% of the cruise passengers were asked about their stay and we found out that at least 82% of them left the ship and went into the city centre. 42% on excursion this summer, which is a big improvement from Additionally we had an average of
3 Page 3 Newsletter Trondheim New cruise coordinator was present at major conferences in 2015 TRONDHEIM AT SEATRADE The new cruise coordinator, since April 2015, has been present at both Seatrade Europe in Hamburg this year as well as the workshop in London hosted by Cruise Norway. Representing Trondheim Port Authority and the excursions of the destination are our number one priority at those conferences. In 2016 marketing manager Kirsti Østensjø will be replacing Maria at the conferences due to her parental leave. Kirsti is well known as former cruise coordinator and was last present at Seatrade Miami in Photo: Maria Kühnl Northern Lights are quite common in Trondheim INCREASED AURORA BOREALIS Did you know that the Northern Lights are very often visible from Trondheim? We only need a kp-level of 4 in order to see it and that has happend many times in recent years. Øyvind Blomstereng was awarded the titel Best photographer 2014 for his timelapse of the Northern Lights taken in Trondheim. In summer, sunset is around 2am and sunrise around 6am. In winter, sunset is at 2pm and sunrise at 10am. Photo: Sven-Erik Knoff Three turnarounds with MS Monarch in 2016 TURNAROUND MS MONARCH MS Monarch is replacing MS Empress and will turn in Trondheim three times next summer. We found a new check-in area that has space for the 2700 passengers and prepare for the much bigger turnaround next summer. Clarion Congress at Brattøra is our new partner for the operation. 4 Newsletter Trondheim Page 4 TRONDHEIM A PORT IN DEVELOPMENT This years main port developments include removing a tower and rebuilding the port side. At Ila quay 31 a tower was removed that made it difficult for bigger ships to dock. Now with the problem gone, ships with a length of 250 m can dock here (draft 10m). The new Brattøra area, the first access point from the main quay to the city centre, was reconstructed and opened in July. Both a new pedestrian bridge and a new recreational area invite for walks along the Trondheim fjord. Next year we are planning on making the ISPS zone at the main quay more accessible for both bus and passenger traffic. It will be a useful investment for all ships that need many busses as well as turnover operations. Finally a recreational harbour and even bigger investments in plan Photo: Tom Gustavsen TERMS, CONDITIONS AND PRICES 2016 We made the following adjustment to our terms, conditions and prices in 2016: 20% reduction from the 5th call of the same cruise to Trondheim, not from the 6th!
