3 Camp Rules The Scout Oath and Scout Law are the rules of camp The SPL and ASPLs are in charge Help with organiza?on, define roles and du?es, as well as be the first response for incidents while at camp Adult Leaders provide GUIDANCE Required ayendance morning and evening colors, all meals, opening and closing camp fires, OA Call Out, closing ceremony Class A uniforms required Sunday check- in, Sunday night opening and Friday night closing campfires, OA Call Out, and Saturday morning closing ceremony Two- deep leadership per BSA guidelines 3

5 Camp Rules, con?nued Campsites and tents are homes and must not be entered without permission including friends tents Night?me rules In site 10 PM Quiet 11 PM The BUDDY SYSTEM is required at all ;mes Closed- toed footwear AND SOCKS must be worn at all?mes. No Crocs. No Open- toed shoes allowed at waterfronts. ALL electronics should be leb at home. NO CELL PHONES! SPL and ASPLs allowed cell phones for communica?on with Leaders only Personal firearms, ammuni?on, and archery equipment not permiyed. Equipment necessary for merit badges is provided by Camp Rodney. No inappropriate knives. (See Troop 72 Knife Policy) 5
6 Summer Camp CommiYee KNIFE Policy Knife blades shall be no longer than 4.5". Blades should be sharpened to provide a clean cut, reducing the need for force to make a proper cut. Knives shall be manually opened, and either locking or spring- held into posi?on. (Automa?c open knives are illegal in the state of PA. ) During scou?ng ac?vi?es, the knife user shall carry a signed Tote n' Chip card, and apply the knowledge from this training at all?mes when using his knife. Knives prohibited from use and possession during scou?ng ac?vi?es include: machetes, straight knives (non- folding), buyerfly knives, throwing knives, and the like, plus those employing spring- assist to open or close the knife, such as spring- assist folding or s?leyos. If there is a ques?on regarding the use and possession of a par?cular knife, the scout or parent must first confer with a Troop 72 Leader. 6
7 Bicycles Scouts &adults may bring their own bicycle for personal use during their stay in camp. Transporta?on of bike is parent s responsibility. The following rules are to be followed by anyone bringing a bicycle to camp; failure to follow these rules may result in a bike being removed from a Scout, or Leader s, possession un?l their departure from camp: A helmet must be worn (and fastened) by the rider at all?mes. Each bicycle is permiyed to have a maximum of one rider. Bicycles are not to be used before Monday morning or aber 5 PM on Friday. During the week, only bicycles with appropriately ayached and operable cycling lights are allowed to be ridden aber dinner. Riders are expected to know the rules of the road for bicycles as stated in the Cycling Merit Badge pamphlet (i.e. ride to the right side of the road). Bicycles are for use on camp roads only and not permiaed to be used on any trails or in campsites unless part of the Mountain Biking program with camp staff. Bicycles are expected to be used in a safe manner at all ;mes, slow and cau?ous. A Scout is courteous on the road, beware of pedestrians. The camp speed limit is 15MPH. If you are unsure of your speed, consider that the average person walks at about 4MPH. When not in use, bicycles are expected to be parked off roadways and trails in such a way as to not impede vehicular or pedestrian traffic. Camp Rodney is not responsible for personal bicycles in camp, they are the sole responsibility of the owner. Del- Mar- Va Council is not responsible for lost or damaged bicycles (or damaged Scouts). 7

Nothing open. No CROCS. 8
9 What to Pack, con?nued Day pack and water boyle Bring in CAR Bathing suit, towel and medicines Sunday check- in Must carry re- usable water boyle around camp every day Scouts must drink 4-6 full boyles throughout each day to stay hydrated cri?cal that this is followed Money ~ $25 (op?onal) for Trading post and snack bar NO merit badge costs Tick Repellent new virus, life threatening, TICK CHECKS! ZIKA VIRUS Mosquito repellent, mosquito nepng Miscellaneous Camp chair, Hanger for Class A shirt, Twine for tent corners, 9 x 11 Tarp for over the tent, Rope for tying down tarp 9
10 What NOT to Pack Packaged food Food NOT allowed in tents ayracts wild animals, including skunks, raccoons and black bears (and bees) Mess kit (not necessary) Electronics of any type Especially CELL PHONES (Excep?on camera, not cell phone camera!) Aerosol or flammable substances Bug sprays, an?perspirants, etc. must be roll- on or pump spray Aerosols damage the tent s water repellency Please no Axe products severe allergy within Troop 10
11 Assembly & Packing Trailer Sun., July 17 Scouts Arrive Camp Spirit by 8:30 A.M. Sunday July, 17 Scouts must: Be dressed in Class A uniform upon arrival at camp. Have DAY PACK with MEDS, water, lunch, bathing suit, towel Foot lockers and hard sided gear - place BEHIND trailer Sob items such as sleeping bags - place at SIDE of trailer Packing trailer Priority: 1) Troop Gear 2) Scouts Gear 3) Misc. chairs, etc. Hard sided items will be loaded on trailer first Sob gear will fill upper space on trailer to allow op?mal packing Will not stay with foot locker Label everything Place sleeping bags in labeled plas?c garbage bag for protec?on 11
12 Carpooling To and From Rodney Carpooling will be assigned prior to departure if your Scout/family has not already organized Bikes If you want one at camp, you are responsible for gepng it there. Share bike racks! Parking is VERY limited, as is travel to the site The Troop WILL be carpooling see Oliver Smith Leaders ayending camp can fill cars with Scouts Carpooling permission forms required prior to departure Form addresses travel to and from camp Parents highly encouraged to carpool together to have rela?vely full cars coming home On Saturday, July 23, for return to Camp Spirit, if NOT riding with parent, Carpooling Permission Form is required. 12
13 Sunday (7/17) Assembly and Departure Roll call and final instruc?ons upon comple?on of packing gear. Depart Camp Spirit ONLY when all are dismissed. Assembly in NorthEast Plaza Shopping Center (Walmart, Dollar Tree, Petco) parking lot on Route 272 Goal: 12 NOON at NorthEast Plaza Shopping Center 75 NE Plaza, North East, MD (for GPS) Eat lunch in car (if allowed), or while wai?ng Roll call will be conducted again while wai?ng in line at Rodney for camp guide No food provided by camp un?l dinner aber 5:45 colors 13
14 Camp Check- In No one checks in before 1:00 P.M. Only one car at a?me will be allowed at camp site During check- in following will occur Campsite inspec?on PRIOR to moving into tents Medical re- check at Alapocas Troop photo Aqua?cs orienta?on and remaining swim checks Scouts choose tents based on highest rank of Tentmates occurs when?me allows First year scouts will be grouped together near Leaders they know (Mr. Dempsey) 14
15 Closing Ceremony Camp Check- Out Saturday 9:00 A.M. Troops, Scouts recognized for special awards Required ayendance wearing Class A uniform. Parents invited. All gear will be packed in Troop trailer prior to Closing Ceremony. Parents are responsible arranging boys transporta?on by carpool. Troop departs following ceremony and final site inspec?on. Scouts and parents MUST check out with Mr. Smith. Meet back at Camp Spirit to unload trailer and collect personal gear. Addi?onal pick- up details, if necessary, communicated by in the later part of week. Check for Friday evening. Boys depar;ng early, or leaving & returning during the week, MUST complete Authoriza?on for Camper Release form. (Troop website) Form turned in to Mrs. Fitch BEFORE leaving Camp Spirit. 15
