4 Expectations - Time Once a week meetings, 7:00 8:30 PM One camp out per month One week summer camp One service opportunity every other month Miscellaneous events You Don t Have To Do Everything!!!

5 Cub Scouts vs. Boy Scouts Boys become more independent Advancement is individual, not group (patrol) More Troop and less Patrol More doing than talking Boy lead: Ask your PL or Ask your SPL Full uniforms shirt, pants, belt, and socks

6 Expectations Adult Guided NOT Den Leaders More directing than leading Jobs: Advisors Merit Badge Counselors Instructors Committee members Event planners Put your hands in your pockets

9 Expectations - Advancement First Class in 12 to 18 months Merit Badges focus after First Class Individual progress vs. group No credit for simply participating Much less memorization

10 Expectations Troop Meetings Boy Lead = Loud and chaotic Sometimes instructive, sometimes business, sometimes just fun Be patient. Eagle is a 4 or 5 year journey

11 Expectations Full Uniforms Scouts must have a full uniform Official shirt with all patches Official pants recommended (no jeans) Official belt Official socks

12 Expectations Boy Run Boys run as much of the Troop as possible Boys set up their camp Boys cook their meals and clean up Boys pack their gear Boys talk to adult leaders Boys to their own work Adults: Put your hands in your pockets

13 Expectations Camping Boys share tents Everyone contributes No paper products No underage siblings (except Family Campout)

14 Underage Siblings Activities are geared towards Boy Scouts Boy Scouts are trained for campouts Siblings could be a distraction to older scouts Siblings are not covered by BSA insurance Give the little guys something to look forward to Against Guide to Safe Scouting

15 Expectations Discipline Boy Scout Sign ( Sign s Up ) Older scouts are the leaders 10:00 in tent, 10:30 lights out A campfire is a one way street No horseplay (no sticks) Prohibited items Respect property

16 Knowledge Scoutmaster Conference A talk with the SM Required for every rank The Scout schedules with the SM

17 Knowledge Board of Review A talk with some Troop adults Required for Tenderfoot and above Done during troop meetings Scout schedules with Advancement Chair on prior Friday
