The main hall has a maximum capacity of 50 people to stay overnight at any one time. It has 1 large hall, 1 small hall, 1 other room for sleeping or chilling out in, 1 large kitchen which is fully equipped, and girls and boys separate toilets both with shower. There is good parking available and the hall is situated in the middle of Port Erin, just 2 minutes walk from the shops and a 5 minute walk from the Shoprite Supermarket. There is a children s park, swimming pool and football pitch nearby and the beach is a 10 minute walk. There are male and female toilets as well as a shower. The hall has ample parking and there is a recreational area and play park nearby. Onchan Village is just a 5 minute walk away with two supermarkets, bank and post office. There is also a convenient bus route nearby serving Douglas, Laxey and Ramsey. Located in the heart of the Island, Ardwhallan has a wide variety of outdoor pursuits on its doorstep including Mountain Biking, Hill Walking, Assault Course, Archery and many water based activities, both on the sea and on nearby Injebreck Reservoir. On the ground floor there is a lounge, dining room, kitchen, meeting room, drying room and small bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, pots, pans and crockery. There is also a utility/store room. On the first floor there are three bedrooms, one with six beds, one with four beds and one with two beds, there are also three toilets and three showers on this level. The attic houses another six bed dormitory as well as another shower. Bedrooms have bunk beds, mattresses and pillows. You will need to bring further bedding (sleeping bags) with you. The site also has facilities for camping up to 10 tents and approximately 30 people. There is an outside toilet block about 50m away from the camping area. The camping field has room for more than 74 pitches with water points, showers and toilets. There are hook-ups for mobile homes and car parking adjacent to the field. A Log Cabin contains a newly equipped kitchen with facilities to cater for over 200 people on site. The function room can be used for a Beaver / Cub Sleepover, games, pool and table tennis - equipment available. The Cabin has its own showers and toilets. The village of Kirk Michael is only a 5 minute walk from the camp with shops, bank, post office and chemist. The site is on the Ramsey to Peel bus route with a bus stop at the site entrance. It has modern toilets, hot and cold showers, and clothes washing facilities. There is a small shop on site. This is a Public Campsite and as such, is not really suitable for Cubs or Scouts. The site is spacious and flat with a sheltered paddock. Adjoining the campsite is a secluded, wooded glen which leads to the Manx Heritage Trail, a delightful easy walk through the splendid Manx countryside from Quarterbridge in Douglas through to Peel. The village of Union Mills is a ten minute walk from the campsite and offers a convenience shop, post office and petrol station. The site has toilets, showers, washroom, drying room, recreational TV room, Internet and Wi-Fi. There are regular bus service stops at the campsite entrance. Pleasant site located 1/2 mile from the beach, convenient for electric tram and buses. The facilities on the campsite are provided free of charge and include: toilets, washbasins, hot showers, fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave oven, stand pipes. Eight electric hook-ups are available for camper vans, at an additional charge. The site is available for outdoor camping where up to 15 small tents can be pitched on two different levels. There are steep slopes between the levels. The site has a toilet block with sinks, hot water and showers on the top level with space for 5/6 tents, the other pitches are down by the Silverburn River, which runs through the site. Campfires can be lit within the walls of the ruined stone building only. The onsite building can also be used for meetings and is a convenient space for use during camps. There is limited road parking and also some parking up the narrow lane to the site. The site is in easy walking distance of Silverdale or Ballasalla through the Glen, providing access to a number of amenities. Silverdale Glen provides a play area, boating lake, and a famous water powered merry go round (believed to be the oldest example of its type in the world). The site also hosts a cafe, which serves a variety of hot and cold meals, snacks and ice cream. There is also a pottery craft studio and gift shop. The Glen is owned by Manx National Trust and consists of dense woodland and streams. It has well laid out paths leading past small waterfalls and over wooden bridges near shallow lily ponds. There is also a Monks Well in the Glen, a perfect place to wish with a few coins. 16 January 2015 scoutcampsites@manx.net Page 16

Nestling close to the base of North Barrule and only five minutes from the secluded beach at Port e Vullen the centre is perfectly situated to provide an ideal venue for groups of all ages. The centre comprises of the converted farm buildings of Lewaigue Farm Camp and is split into 2 facilities, north and south camp. Each facility can accommodate 70 people allowing larger group to have sole use of their own accommodation block. Accommodation is basic, perfect for youngsters busy on outdoor activities. With over 30 years of experience delivering high quality adventure holidays for schools our centre is an ideal venue for a wide range of outdoor activities. The bunkhouse is quite basic and consists of one room divided into a sleeping area with three sleeping platforms and can accommodate about 15 on the three levels. Access to the upper two levels is by way of a permanent ladder. The cooking area has a full size domestic cooker, which runs off bottled gas, stainless steel food preparation and washing up area. Various cooking pots and utensils are provided. There is also a large table with chairs. Heating is provided by the multi-fuel stove. No lighting is provided and groups should provide their own, whether they use battery lights or pressure or gas lanterns. Outside there is a lean to which houses a very basic chemical toilet. There is room around the cottage for about six hike tents in the grounds and the surrounding plantation is ideal for building bivouacs and playing wide games. The South Barrule Plantation has a number of adventurous activities on offer, including: Laser Mayhem, Ape-Man Course, Segway, Go-Karting and Mountain Biking. 16 January 2015 scoutcampsites@manx.net Page 21

26 Lightweight Expedition for planning on staying at any site for not more than one night before moving on. The core activity is a form of expedition, not residential, and all the equipment is transported with the participants. eg. QSA/DofE hikes, expedition hikes, canoe expeditions. l. Notification: i. The relevant home Commissioner (or their nominee) must be notified before any camping or residential event takes place. Seven days notice should be given; ii. Where a camp or residential event takes place using facilities not owned or operated by Scouting, for example a youth hostel, a public (commercial) campsite, or a farmer s field, the host District Commissioner must be notified beforehand. 14 days notice should be given; iv. The notification must include all the information required in the Nights Away Notification Form (NAN).
