1 CAMPS SUMMER DATES 2018 Programs begin July 3, 2018 Camps are cancelled August 6, 2018 In addition to the specifics in the descriptions below, campers may also participate in various camp activities such as cooperative games, sports, aquatic activities and crafts. These activities vary by location. Camp hours are 9:00 am - 4:00 pm unless otherwise stated. Before and after care is available from 7:30 am - 9:00 am and 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Separate registration and fee is required. Remember that your child(ren) have spent a long, fun-filled day at camp. Please pick them up on time. ANIMAL ADVENTURE This program is for campers who love animals. Participants will learn about the habitat, care and characteristics of various animals. Campers will embark on an adventure once a week to an animal-themed attraction. Trip and bus fees are included in the price of the program. Please contact your local recreation centre for more information about weekly destinations. ARCHERY 8 to 15 Years This program is for participants who would like to learn or refine their bow and arrow skills. Participants will learn parts of the bow and arrow, proper shooting technique including stances, release, follow-through and anchor points. ARTS AND CRAFTS 8 to 9 Years and Campers will work with a variety of materials to create different masterpieces such as paper mâché, and friendship bracelets. ART STUDIO 8 to 13 Years Campers will participate in creative and fun exercises over the week to develop their use of some of the basic elements of art such as tone, line, perspective, texture and shape. A variety of materials will be explored including charcoal, pencils, mixed media, watercolour and acrylic paints. Traditional camp games will complement the program. Campers will host an Art Show featuring their work at the end of each session. Fee includes cost of all materials. BMX Participants will learn how to use a variety of park features while working on improving on-bike balance and confidence. Required equipment: BMX bike, knee pads, elbow pads and CSA-certified BMX helmet. BALL HOCKEY 6 to 9 Years and Participants will learn the rules, offensive and defensive positioning, passing, shooting and ball control. Technical skills will be taught through instruction as well as game play. Required equipment: CSA-certified hockey helmet with full facemask. BARNYARD EXPLORERS 6 to 9 Years Campers will learn about a variety of different farm animals and the steps needed to ensure their health and care. Participants will also use the Children s Garden to study vegetable growth and upkeep. General barnyard maintenance will be taught through hands-on challenges and activities. BASEBALL 6 to 9 Years and Participants will learn the rules, positioning, throwing, catching, fielding and batting. Technical skills will be taught through instruction as well as game play. Required equipment: Baseball glove. BASKETBALL 6 to 9 Years and This camp is for ballers of all abilities. Participants will enhance their offensive and defensive positioning, dribbling, shooting and passing. Technical skills will be taught through instruction as well as game play. PAGE 19

2 BEACH VOLLEYBALL 8 to 15 Years This program will focus on the fundamentals of beach volleyball. Participants will learn the rules, positioning, serving, forearm passes and overhead passes. Technical skills will be taught through instruction as well as game play. BIKE ADVENTURE Novice bike riders are encouraged to come out and explore the City of Brampton on their bicycle through our beautiful trails and pathways! Youth will have the opportunity to learn bicycle mechanics, bicycle safety, riding dynamics and proper bicycle etiquette on and off road. Required equipment: Bike in good working order with a working bell, CSA-certified bike helmet. BORN TO STAND OUT 8 to 13 Years This program is for campers who want to work on developing a positive self image. Campers will develop a tool box of skills such as communication, bullying prevention, stress management, positive body image, decision making, friends and home life. BRAMPTON LIFESAVING CLUB 7 to 15 Years Brampton Lifesaving Camp, aligned with the Lifesaving Society Junior Lifeguard Club, offers serious fun and energy for those that can swim at least 25m and tread water for up to two minutes. It is an introduction to Lifesaving Sport and kids can earn up to seven different Recognition Seals, including Leadership and Teamwork, Community Education and Personal Fitness. They will also have the opportunity to earn their Bronze Star badge. Brampton Lifesaving Camp stresses fun and aquatic skill development based on personal-best achievement. Required equipment: Bathing/swimming attire. Prerequisites: Minimum Splash 4 or can complete 50m of front crawl. BUSINESS 14 to 17 Years The focus will be on personal growth, professionalism and entrepreneurship. The Biz Teens will design and produce an innovative product and learn how to use marketing tools to promote their business at Market Day. BUSINESS KIDS LEVEL 1 9 to 13 Years Through high-level games and workshops this program will challenge every participant as he/she uncovers their own entrepreneurial skills. Through the program, campers will learn how to start, manage and close their own business. BUSINESS KIDS LEVEL 2 9 to 13 Years Designed for those with entrepreneurial experience or returning Biz Kids Campers. Individuals will design and produce an innovative product and learn how to use marketing tools to promote their business at Market Day. CANOE AND KAYAK 8 to 15 Years This program will introduce you to the basic skills of kayaking and canoeing. You ll learn efficient paddling, proper balance in the boat, basic boat rescue and how to stay safe on the water. This is a great introduction and confidence builder for those preparing for the open waters. All equipment will be provided. Campers will go on a guided paddling trip in which they will explore a scenic southern Ontario paddling location. Required equipment: Bathing/swimming attire. Prerequisite: No swimming ability required, but participants must be comfortable in deep water with a lifejacket. CHEERLEADING This program focuses on stretching, stunts, formations, tricks, cheers and chants. Participants will coordinate various routines that showcase their flexibility, coordination and strength. CHINGUACOUSY PARK 4 to 5 Years, 6 to 9 Years and Come explore Brampton s iconic Chinguacousy Park and all its fun attractions. Hike along our trails, learn about all the plants we grow, make new friends with the barn animals, play a round of mini-golf and much more! CIRCUS SCHOOL Has your child ever wanted to run off and join the circus? This is the camp for them! Campers will have the opportunity to try several circus arts such as acrobatics, juggling, slackline walking, mini trampoline and hoops. Campers will perform in a show at the end of the week. 3 GENERAL INTERESTS COMPETITIVE WATER SPORTS Campers will enjoy playing various pool based team sports including inner tube water polo, Waboba Ball, water volleyball, under water hockey and more. CREATE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE Campers will start the day together and then will split off into a variety of activities chosen at the time of registration for three different activities each day. CREATIVE WRITING 6 to 9 Years and Using storytelling exercises, dialogue, dreams and other techniques, children will find words for their own stories and produce an illustrated book. Participants will use computers in our Mac lab to enhance their storybook. This course is designed to further your existing or newfound talent. DANCE 4 to 5 Years and 6 to 9 Years Participants will learn a new routine each week and will perform every Friday. This introductory dance program emphasizes fun and creative movement within a dance environment. Children will learn basic steps in a variety of dance disciplines such as ballet and jazz. DANCE AND CHEER 8 to 13 Years At this camp, participants will learn a new routine each week and will perform every Friday. Campers learn introductory dance moves along with introductory cheerleading stunts and routines. EINSTEIN S Campers will enjoy this hands-on curriculum based program, which includes math, science and technology. Campers will improve their math skills while learning about recent technology and conducting science experiments. Participants will learn scientific basics through hands-on activities that focus on observation, discovery and analysis. ELDORADO 4 to 5 Years Being outdoors has never been so exciting! After being placed in small groups with leaders who will act as positive role models, campers will enjoy the great outdoors. Activities include hiking, crafts, water play and themed activities. Campers will be encouraged and motivated to try activities that only the outdoors can provide. Bus transportation to and from the camp is available from various stops around Brampton. A separate registration and fee is required. ELDORADO GIRLS OR ELDORADO BOYS Being outdoors has never been so exciting! After being placed with a gender-appropriate leader, who will act as a positive role model, campers will enjoy the great outdoors. Activities include daily swims, rock climbing, hiking, archery, crafts and themed activities. Campers will be encouraged and motivated to try activities that only the outdoors can provide. Bus transportation to and from the camp is available from various stops around Brampton. A separate registration and fee is required. EMERGING PERFORMERS This two-week program takes your camper s performance to the next level! Campers will have the opportunity to further enhance their acting skills, dance moves, and art techniques. Campers will be introduced to more challenging characters and will use their talents to create a theatrical performance using sound, lights, and costumes on stage. ENGINEERING LEGO SIMPLE MACHINES 1 6 to 8 Years Participants will be able to work as young scientists, engineers and designers working with Duplo LEGO simple machines bricks and guided activities that promote design technology, science and mathematics. Participants will work through real world investigations and problem solving to make assumptions and predictions as they make models. Themes to be explored may include: pinwheels, spinning tops, seesaws, rafts, car launchers, and measuring cars. ENGINEERING LEGO SIMPLE MACHINES 2 6 to 8 Years Participants will continue to work as young scientists, engineers and designers working with LEGO simple and powered machines bricks and problem-solving tasks that promote design technology, science and mathematics. Participants will use their knowledge of simple machines to work through real world investigations and use problem solving skills to make assumptions and predictions as they design and make models. ENGINEERING LEGO SIMPLE & POWERED MACHINES 1 8 to 12 Years Participants will be able to work as young scientists, engineers and designers working with LEGO simple and powered machines bricks and guided activities that promote design technology, science and mathematics. Participants will learn about work through real world activities surrounding the topics of levers, wheels and axles, pulleys, inclined planes, wedges, screws, gears, cams, pawl and ratchets, and structures. ENGINEERING LEGO SIMPLE & POWERED MACHINES 2 8 to 12 Years Participants will continue to work as young scientists, engineers and designers working with LEGO simple and powered machines bricks and problem-solving tasks that promote design technology, science and mathematics. Participants will use their knowledge of simple machines to work through real world investigations and use problem solving skills to make assumptions and predictions as they design and make models. EXPEDITION 6 to 9 Years and 10 to 15 Years Campers will participate in the traditional camp experience and will travel to the GTA s premiere attractions. Fee includes admission and transportation to 2 trips per week. Campers may also participate in various camp activities such as cooperative games, sports, aquatic activities and crafts. These activities vary by location. Before and after care is available, a separate registration and fee is required. FIELD AND WATER SPORTS Campers will learn basic rules and techniques of various field sports such as baseball, lacrosse and soccer as well as favourite water sports such as underwater hockey, water polo and water basketball. Required equipment: Bathing/swimming attire. FIT AND FUN 8 to 13 Years Campers will participate in fitness activities and games to develop physical literacy fundamental movement skills. Campers will be active throughout the week indoors and outdoors and work towards the Swim to Survive standard. They will work towards increasing their knowledge in healthy active living, nutrition and safety. CAMPS PAGE 21

4 FRENCH 4 to 5 Years and 6 to 9 Years This interactive and themed camp offers an educational camp experience primarily through a classroom setting. This camp is conducted predominantly in French and is a great opportunity for children who are attending French Immersion for school. FUN WITH SNACKS AND TREATS 4 to 5 Years and Through this camp, participants will indulge their creative side while working with no-bake recipes. Participants will make a variety of intriguing treats and snacks that use basic ingredients without the need to use an oven. GLEE CLUB Sing, dance and have fun! Campers will be encouraged to learn today s most popular song lyrics and create their own choreography and dances to go along with them. GOLF This program will teach the fundamentals of golf and various ways to improve your swing. Focus will be on driving, chipping, pitching and putting. Participants will practise on our practice nets, putting greens and 9-hole golf course. Required equipment: Full set of golf clubs and appropriate golf attire. GUITAR 8 to 13 Years Participants will have fun learning basic notes, strumming and reading chord charts using their own guitar! Music books will be provided. Required Materials: Each participant must bring their own guitar. PAGE 22 GYMNASTICS 4 to 5 Years and This fun-filled program is designed to develop body awareness, coordination, flexibility and strength using Olympic gymnastics equipment. HABITAT ENGINEERS Campers will work together to research and investigate the biology of a variety of insect and plant species, including their natural habitats and ecosystems. Campers will team up to create a functioning solitary bee habitat, ant farm and desktop greenhouse. HOCKEY 8 to 13 Years Participants will learn the rules, improve their basic hockey skills and develop skills in the areas of stick handling, passing, shooting, offense and defense. Required equipment: Participants must wear full hockey equipment including: CSA-certified hockey helmet with a full facemask, hockey gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin pads, hockey skates and hockey jersey. Participants must bring their own stick. Prerequisites: Participants must have a competent level of skating and have completed a minimum of one season of organized hockey. INCLUSIVE: DAY TRIPPERS 14+ Years This camp program is for participants with disabilities who require little or basic support and supervision. Daily thrill seekers will board the bus to embark on exciting adventures to visit some of the premiere attractions in the GTA and surrounding area. This program is great for all those campers who thrive on new experiences. Fee includes admission and transportation to all trips. Before and after care is available. A separate registration and fee is required. Additional Fees: Services for individuals with needs that require one-to-one supervision are available and can be arranged through the Recreation Division for an additional fee. INCLUSIVE: CAMP NO LIMITS, 14 to 20 Years and 21+ Years This camp program is for participants with disabilities. This program includes crafts, games, music, swimming and special events that promote fine and gross motor development. Additional Fees: Services for individuals with needs that require one-to-one supervision are available and can be arranged through the Recreation Division for an additional fee. INCLUSIVE: ON THE MOVE 14 to 20 Years and 21+ Years This camp program is for participants with disabilities who require little or basic support and supervision. This program involves activities such as crafts, games and sports, water sports and a trip day/ community day. IT FACTOR 10 to 15 Years The It Factor combines the fun of camp and the skill development of our leadership programs. Campers will participate in team building activities, camp projects and leadership development, rock climbing, archery and hikes along the Credit River. Bus transportation to and from the camp is available from various stops around Brampton. A separate registration and fee is required. KIDS IN THE KITCHEN 6 to 9 Years and Campers will enjoy the excitement of the kitchen. Campers will learn how to plan, shop, prepare, cook and bake many different creations from around the world. LEADERSHIP 13 to 14 Years This program focuses on beginner leadership skills. It includes the development of communication, self-confidence, teamwork and leading a team. Participants will participate in crafts, games and sports with the focus on developing their leadership skills. LEADERSHIP SENIOR 14 to 17 Years Take the lead and join us in this unique program that will focus on running games, interview skills and conflict resolution. Upon completion of this two-week experience, participants will move on to a hands-on placement in one of our Brampton camps. Leaders may also participate in various BRAMPTON.CA

LEADERSHIP SPORTS 14 to 17 Years Are you a leader among other athletes and teammates? Then we have the program for you! Come and enjoy a two-week program where leadership is only the beginning. Learn how to use your athletic skills to coach others in various disciplines of sports. Learning, coaching and teaching will be emphasized. Participants will also work on a variety of sporting skills and drills. Those participants who actively and enthusiastically participate in the program and pass a placement interview will be invited to our City sports camps to improve their coaching skills among various ages of campers. Leaders may also participate in various camp activities such as cooperative games, sports, aquatic activities and crafts. These activities vary by location. LIFESAVING SPORT - WATERFRONT 8 to 17 Years Lifesaving Sport offers participants a recreational introduction to lifesaving sport skills. The program also teaches team building, fair play, ethics in sport and responsibility. Campers will strengthen their swimming, learn to paddleboard, and compete in lifesaving competition events, including beach flags, rescue tube race and the junior iron guard. Required equipment: Bathing/swimming Attire. Prerequisites: Minimum Splash 4 or can complete 50m of front crawl. LITTLE STARS 6 to 9 Years Is your little star ready for the spotlight? This two-week program introduces acting skills, a variety of dance styles, and art techniques. Campers will work on characterization and will use their talents to create a theatrical performance using sound, lights, and costumes on stage. MEDIEVAL QUEST Campers will jump back to the medieval times and try activities such as archery, jousting and rock climbing. Bus transportation to and from the camp is available from various stops around Brampton. A separate registration and fee is required. MIND BUSTERS 4 to 5 Years This camp is for participants who want to keep their minds engaged. Explore the world of science, math, art and language through challenging puzzles, experiments, and strategy games. MUSIC MAKERS 4 to 5 Years Children will experiment with different forms of music throughout the day. Musical games, songs and instruction will be incorporated. Campers will perform in a talent show at the end of the week. NATURE Come and join fellow nature enthusiasts as we hike across Eldorado Park and Heart Lake Conservation Area. Learn about trees, plants and animal life. Along with nature activities, children will get to swim, rock climb and try their hand at archery. Bus transportation to and from the camp is available from various stops around Brampton. A separate registration and fee is required. NEIGHBOURHOOD AND NEIGHBOURHOOD GIRLS 4 to 5 Years and Campers will participate in a variety of age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities. Camp games, sports, crafts, aquatic activities and much more will vary by location. NEIGHBOURHOOD TRIPPERS 4 to 5 Years, 6 to 9 Years and 10 to 13 Years Campers will embark on an adventure once a week and participate in the traditional camp experience. NEIGHBOURHOOD TRIPPERS IN FRENCH Campers will embark on an adventure once a week and participate in the traditional camp experience. Communication and activities will be facilitated primarily in French. Campers should have good French skills and will be encouraged to speak French. PAPER, PAINT AND PLAYDOUGH Mornings and Afternoons 4 to 5 Years This hands-on camp will encourage your child s creativity and imagination through the use of paper, paint and play dough. PARKOUR Does your child literally climb the walls in the summer? This exciting new camp is perfect for your child. Parkour is an activity or sport of moving rapidly through an area, negotiating obstacles by running, jumping and climbing. We have plenty of obstacles, blocks and climbing areas at our facility, where campers can challenge and develop their skills in a safe and supervised environment. PERFORMANCE PLAYHOUSE PLUS 6 to 9 Years and Is your little star ready for the spotlight? This two-week program takes the campers acting techniques, dance moves and art to the next level. Campers will work on characterization and will use their skills to create a theatrical performance using sound, lights, and costumes on stage. PHOTOGRAPHY AND EDITING A program that incorporates both photography and summer camp experience. Participants will learn the basics of photography and take pictures of different landscapes, wildlife, architectural structures and candid images. PAGE 23 CAMPS

6 Campers will then take their images and transfer them onto the computer in the Mac Lab and edit them with Photoshop software. Required equipment: One Digital camera per person is required for this program with the appropriate USB connection cable to insert into the computer. PONY RIDING 6 to 7 Years Participants will work with our animal technician on how to take care of a pony and how to mount and ride; they will be escorted by a lead rider on a closed track. Take part in grooming, general care and health for animals and learn typical barnyard responsibilities that come with caring for animals. Prerequisites: Participants must be no taller than 48 to participate. READ AND WRITE 4 to 5 Years and 6 to 9 Years Campers will build on the literacy skills they learn at school in a stress-free learning environment. It will be a stimulating environment so that the children develop a positive attitude towards reading and writing. The goal is to help them realize that reading and writing can be fun! RESPONSIBLE ME Participants will work towards their Home Alone certificate through the Canadian Safety Council as well as their Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid award. Required equipment: Pen and notebook. RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU Participants will work towards achieving their babysitting certificate as well as their Standard First Aid with CPR C Certificate. Required equipment: Pen and notebook. ROBOTICS LEGO MINDSTORMS 1 10 to 14 Years Using LEGO MINDSTORMS robotics sets, participants will work to build and program robots through direct teaching, experimentation, and exploration. Participants will learn fundamental computer programming and engineering concepts using real world concepts that are integrated with science, mathematics, and design technology. Participants will solve computational problems by programming the robots to move in a variety of ways as well as integrating the ultrasonic, touch and colour sensors in their robots to complete challenges. ROBOTICS LEGO MINDSTORMS 2 CAMP 10 to 14 Years Build and program robots through direct teaching, experimentation and exploration! Using LEGO MINDSTORMS robotics sets, participants will learn fundamental computer programming and engineering concepts, through real world challenges that are integrated with science, mathematics and design technology. Solve problems and design and build a driverless automated wheeled robot. Campers may also participate in camp activities such as cooperative games, sports, aquatic activities and crafts. These activities vary by location. Before and after care is available, a separate registration and fee is required. Required Equipment: Comfortable clothing including running shoes. Prerequisite: LEGO Robotics MINDSTORMS 1 (10-14 Years) ROBOTICS LEGO WEDO GEARS & GADGETS 8 to 12 Years Using LEGO WeDo robotics sets, participants will work to creatively solve real life science questions and engineering problems. Participants will connect and discuss possible solutions, and then apply their knowledge when they learn to build, program and modify their models. Each week participants will work through a new project which may include: Science rovers, pulling, speed, robust structures, sorting and recycling, and mining materials. The class will then join together to share their solutions and findings through documentation and presenting their robots each week. ROBOTICS LEGO WEDO PLANTS & ANIMALS 8 to 12 Years Using LEGO WeDo robotics sets, participants will work to creatively solve real life science questions and engineering problems. Participants will connect and discuss possible solutions, and then apply their knowledge when they learn to build, program and modify their models. Each week participants will work through a new project which may include: Motion sensor, frog metamorphosis, plants and pollinators, predators and prey, animal expression, and wildlife crossings. The class will then join together to share their solutions and findings through documentation and presenting their robots each week. ROBOTICS LEGO WEDO WEATHER & HABITATS 8 to 12 Years Using LEGO WeDo robotics sets, participants will work to creatively solve real life science questions and engineering problems. Participants will connect and discuss possible solutions, and then apply their knowledge when they learn to build, program and modify their models. Each week participants will work through a new project which may include: T.H. sensors, preventing flooding, dig and rescue, extreme habitats, hazard alarm, cleaning the ocean, space exploration. The class will then join together to share their solutions and findings through documentation and presenting their robots each week. SCIENCE Campers will participate in various sciencebased themes. Energy and Robots will build mini machines and circuits. Dinos and Fossils will focus on learning about different types of dinosaurs and the study of paleontology. Mini Medical School will focus on the body systems and diseases. To the Moon and Back will study the solar system, stars and planets. Airplanes and Rockets will focus on how flight works and building airplanes and rockets. Tornadoes and Volcanoes will focus on earth s geological activity, natural disasters, and how weather works. Engineering and Building will learn about and build structures using different building materials. Chemical Reactions will focus on doing experiments, elements, and states of matter. Week 1: Energy and Robots Week 2: Dinos and Fossils Week 3: Mini Medical School Week 4: To the Moon and Back Week 5: Airplanes and Rockets Week 6: Tornadoes and Volcanoes Week 7: Engineering and Building Week 8: Chemical Reactions Week 9: Energy and Robots SCOOTER Campers will learn beginner fundamentals from stance and balance, bar spins, dropping in, ramps, bunny hop and tail whips. Through these basics, campers will also learn to follow camp etiquette. Required equipment: Stable scooter that is strong enough to withstand the elements and tricks that are being attempted (scooter must be non-foldable), knee pads, elbow pads and CSA-certified BMX or skateboard helmet and comfortable clothing including running shoes. SKATE AND SPLASH Campers will enjoy activities and free skating on the ice and hit the pool for some additional fun. Required equipment: All participants must wear a CSA-certified helmet. Facemasks and warm clothes, including snow pants or slush pants, are strongly recommended. Sharpened hockey or figure skates, mittens or gloves, and swimming/bathing attire are required. 7 GENERAL INTERESTS SKATEBOARD Campers will develop fundamental skateboarding skills that include balance, pushing off, proper stance and rolling in on flat banks. Campers will also learn to follow park etiquette. Required equipment: Skateboard, knee pads, elbow pads, CSA-certified BMX or skateboard helmet, and comfortable clothing, including running shoes. SKATING This camp is ideal for both the beginner and the elite skater. Participants will be broken into groups based on ability and will work on improving their skating. This program is ideal for participants who want to refine their skating ability for hockey or figure skating, or would just like to learn the basics. Required equipment: All participants must wear a CSA-certified hockey helmet. Facemasks and warm clothes, including snow pants or slush pants, are strongly recommended. Sharpened hockey or figure skates and mittens or gloves are required. SOCCER AND SOCCER GIRLS 6 to 7 Years, 8 to 9 Years and 10 to 13 Years This program will teach the fundamentals of soccer. Participants will learn the rules, offensive and defensive positioning, passing, shooting and dribbling. Technical skills will be taught through instruction as well as game play. Required equipment: Shin pads are recommended. SPORTS AND SPORTS GIRLS 4 to 5 Years, 6 to 7 Years, 8 to 9 Years and This program will introduce participants to a variety of sports. Campers may learn the basic fundamentals of baseball, basketball, dodgeball, soccer and many more. Sports will vary depending on location. This program is geared to enhance physical skills and team play in a non-competitive environment. SWIM, SUN AND FUN 6 to 9 Years and Campers will participate in a variety of age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities as well as a level-appropriate swimming lesson to achieve their Brampton Splash levels. Required equipment: Bathing/swimming attire. TENNIS This camp is open to participants of all ability levels. Basic instruction will focus on forehand, backhand, serving and volleying. TRACK AND FIELD This program will teach the fundamentals of Indoor Track and Field. Participants will learn sprinting, hurdling, long jump and much more. Technical skills will be taught through instruction and skills will be developed through play. At the end of the session, campers will showcase their skills in a fun track meet. TRAILBLAZERS 8 to 13 Years This camp has three areas your child will enjoy: Environmental, Adventure and Team Building. Environmental includes forest exploration, hiking, pond study and animal tracking. Adventure includes rock climbing, water hiking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. Team building includes low ropes, orienteering and shelter building. All hiking trips will be to GTA conservation areas. TRIATHLON 8 to 15 Years This camp will introduce young athletes to the challenge of triathlons in a safe and fun environment. Campers will train to improve their swimming, biking, and running. They will also learn effective transitions, bike maintenance, and nutrition habits. On the last day, campers will compete in a mini-triathlon to challenge themselves and show off their hard work. Prerequisites: Splash 3 swimming ability or higher. Required equipment: Bicycle in good working order, CSA-certified bike helmet, comfortable clothing, including running shoes and bathing/swimming attire. TRIPLE THREAT 14 to 17 Years This conservatory program is for participants of all abilities and skills levels. Campers will have the opportunity to become triple threats as they participate in a Broadway-style boot camp. Advanced singing, acting and dancing techniques will be explored. Participants will present a musical theatre performance using sound, lights, and costumes on stage. TUMBLING AND TRAMPOLINE Come bounce around with us this summer. Campers will utilize our spring floor, tumble track and trampolines to learn and practise basic to intermediate tumbling and trampoline skills. URBAN EXPLORERS This camp will help familiarize children with their local surroundings. Children will be able to plan and execute trips to various locations within Brampton using Brampton Transit. VIDEO GAMES DESIGN 8 to 9 Years and Campers will use a variety of computer software programs to create, design, test and play their own unique and interactive video games. VOLLEYBALL This program will teach the fundamentals of volleyball. Participants will learn the rules, positioning, serving, forearm passes and overhead passes. Technical skills will be taught through instruction as well as game play. WATER SPORTS Campers will enjoy their days at the beach with fun outdoor sports and water activities. Campers will learn how to canoe, kayak and paddleboard in scenic Professor s Lake, and will play various beach sports such as volleyball, soccer, flag football and ultimate Frisbee. All campers will be placed in a level appropriate swimming lesson to work towards their Brampton Splash levels. The location of swimming lesson is subject to change based on weather conditions. Prerequisite: No swimming ability required, but participants must be comfortable in deep water with a lifejacket. Required equipment: Bathing/swimming attire.
