2 WELCOME to Summer at the Y There s never a dull moment during Summer Exploration Academy/Day Camp at the Y! Summer is a time for fun, but it s also the perfect time for personal exploration through fun and exciting activities that engages both the mind and body! In addition to traditional summer activities, summers at the Y for 2019 will include time every day for reading, character development, STEM education, and college and career prep for teens. Summer Exploration Academy/Day Camp at the Y also include an hour of physical activity every day to help combat childhood obesity. We offer great options to meet any schedule. Half day camp provides the flexibility parents need and is available in either morning or afternoon sessions. No problem! Sports camps can be paired with either a morning or afternoon of traditional day camp (excluding golf camp). Campers are escorted by friendly staff between sessions for a seamless transition so the fun never stops! 7:00am - 6:00pm WEEKLY FEE: $180 Members/$250 Potential Members (prorated week is marked with an *, $128 Members/ $152 Potential Members) Some restrictions apply, please inquire at membership desk. During each action-packed day you will meet new friends, stay active, and try new things with choices the teens make for themselves, team-building activities, new games geared for teens, ice breakers, cooking class, science experiments, and much more. Field trips and activities are specifically designed with teens in mind. We call our trained staff professional role models who not only provide a safe environment, but ensure campers have a ton of fun. SAILING CAMP Want to learn to sail and enjoy a beautiful Lake every day? Then Camp Sails is for you! We are pleased to announce instruction by our partners at Adventure Sails. Campers will learn sailing terms and the practical how-to s of sailing with plenty of hands-on wind in the hair sailing. Safety is a top priority and we will have a lifeguard present with all of the campers wearing life vests. GRADES: Completed 2nd-5th SESSIONS: 2 (June 24-28), 6 (July 22-26) 8:30 am - 12:30 pm ART CAMP More than typical arts and crafts! Campers will work on one major art project all week, with small ones every day. On Friday the campers get to present their art work in their very own Art Show. Parents are invited to come. grade SESSIONS: 1 (June 17-21), 6 (July 22-26) LEGO CAMP Campers will use their creativity to build houses, trucks, cars, cities and planes. Each camper will get to take home their own Lego kit at the end of the week! SESSIONS: 2 (June 24-28), 8 (August 5-9) GUYS ROCK Come out for a week of guy time and true celebration where we will be playing sports, and various outdoor activities. We will also be building model rockets, pinewood derby racers and having a tournament at the end of the week where guys will face off against the girls. GIRLS RULE Come out for a week of girl time where we will be cooking, dancing, jewelry making, and lots of other female fun! We will also be building pinewood derby racers and having a tournament at the end of the week where the girls will face off against the guys COOKING CAMP Campers will learn basic cooking skills and will make kid-friendly meals. GRADES: Completed 2nd-5th SESSIONS: 5 (July 15-19), 7* (July 29-August 2), 9 (August 13-17) *Session 7: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm DANCE CAMP Campers will study ballet, modern, jazz and hip hop. Don t worry; there will still be time for some games and a fantastic Friday performance at Day Camp closing assembly at 4:00! SESSIONS: 7 (July 29-August 2) CHEER CAMP Campers will learn everything from safe stunts to spirit fingers. No experience required, just a great attitude and a desire to get the crowd off their feet! SESSIONS: 8 (August 5-9) CAMP CHALLENGE Does your Camper love Challenges like the ones on Minute to Win It, Cut throat Kitchen, Survivor, Amazing Race and many others? Then Camp Challenge is the camp for them. We will have an excitement filled week where we take competing to a new level fun. We will go off site to explore the great outdoors and have fun learning basic survival skills. Campers are picked up at the Robinhood, Fulton and William. G. White, Jr. Family YMCAs and transported to YMCA Camp Hanes where they will spend the day participating in activities like canoeing, swimming, lake slide, water zip line, archery, arts and crafts, nature fun and field games. Campers will be provided lunch and snack daily in the dining hall. AGES: :00 am - 5:00 pm WEEKLY FEE: June 11- July 5 $252/members and $282/potential members.
