Including cycling merit badge requirements, fishing, and working on scout related fundamentals.

2 Scoutmaster s Forum This past month Troop 969 hosted its annual Fall Kickoff Dinner. The Eric Marder Spirit of Scouting Award was awarded at the Fall Kickoff Dinner. This year the award was earned by Nicholas. This award was earned based on recommendations of the Scouts themselves, for service to the Troop. Nicholas is very active and has an unabashed enthusiasm for Scouting. Thank you Nicholas for all your efforts. I would like to thank Sabina Moore for all her work and long hours working on the video Year in Review that was viewed at the dinner. It was great to see the boys in action. November is a busy month, with Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. Thank a Vet for their commitment, and find something to be thankful for. Share it with family and friends on Thanksgiving Day. And finally, don t forget to take advantage of the extra hour sleep on Sunday, November 4th as we set our clocks back one hour. LAST CALL FOR TROOP DUES If you still have not paid your troop dues, they are now due. The fee for registered adults is $37 and $60 for scouts plus a minimum 30 pancakes breakfast tickets sold. Please have them paid by Monday, November 5 th. This is required if you expect to continue taking part in any troop activities, including the November campout to Van Patten Forest Woods. Registered adults must update your youth protection training to remain on the troop s charter. If you have any questions about your dues contact George VanDurme. 3 ORDER OF THE ARROW The Nachu Alluns chapter of the Order of the Arrow meets every fourth Wednesday of the month at St. John Lutheran Church at 7:30 pm. St. John Lutheran is located at Montrose and Milwaukee Aves. PARENTS AND SCOUTS Fact booklets and the calendar for the entire scout year are available on the Troop website ( under the information section, on the left side of the page. All Scouters and Scouts are to read and understand the information in the booklets, and turn in the signature pages. When in doubt, check it out. TROOP SERVICE PROJECT This year we will be doing Stockings For The Troops. Operation Support Our Troops- America was founded in 2003 and this year they are collecting donations to fill stockings that will help make the holidays brighter for our troops serving in harms way. If you would like to donate, please bring your donations to the meeting on November 12 th. All items must be individually wrapped or in individual packs. 5 KICKOFF DINNER On Sunday October 14 th, Troop 969 held their annual fall kickoff dinner. Once the colors were presented, everyone then dined on chicken, beef, mostacioli and more. Towards the end of dinner, those present were treated to a slide presentation, which featured all the scouts at the various activities through the past scout year. A Court of Honor was then took place, in which all the scouts were recognized for awards earned since April, including merit badges, rank advancements and awards earned at Owasippe. The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the Stan Konienzny and Eric Marder Spirit of Scouting Awards. Congratulations go to Mr. and Mrs. John Calhoun, who were this year s recipients of the Stan Konieczny Award, recognizing them for all the contributions they have made to scouting and to the troop. Congratulations also go to Nicholas, who was presented with the Eric Marder Spirit of Scouting Award. The scouts selected Nicholas for this honor for the example he shows of a scout exhibiting the spirit of scouting. The afternoon ended with refreshments and fellowship of all who attended.

The permission slip/activity consent form must be turned in with your money no later than October 29th. Your dues must also be paid by this time.
