2 Leadership Matters Packing List Items to Bring from Home All participants are required to have the following items for their program. These items are not included with a DHE scholarship. If you do not already have these items, you will need to buy them for your program. Some items are available for purchase from the Deer Hill store. The DHE Store Availability column indicates which items are available. Our leaders will assist participants in packing for each section of the program. ITEM CLOTHING Shirts QUANTITY REQUIRED DHE STORE AVAILABILITY T-shirt, short sleeved cotton 5 Long sleeve, lightweight, light colored, cotton shirt for sun protection (e.g. men's business shirt) 2 Cotton Sweatshirt, something comfortable for travel days Synthetic T-shirt, short sleeved 2 Pants Work Pants, denim or canvas jeans, (e.g. Carhartts, Dickies, etc.) Casual Pants, comfortable (cotton ok) Lightweight Nylon Pants, for hiking and sun protection (no cotton) Other Clothing Underwear 9 Sports Bras 3 Swimsuit (nylon shorts ok) Nylon Shorts 3 Cotton Socks, for Basecamp and Service 2 Synthetic Socks or wool (no cotton) 5 FOOTWEAR Boots *See gear guide for information on boots Camp Shoes, closed toe (e.g. old sneakers)
3 BEDDING Pillow, for basecamp ACCESSORIES Heads and Hands Extra Glasses/Contact Lenses Hygiene, Personal Care Cotton Towel, for beach or bath at Basecamp Menstruation Products (please bring more of these than you think that you will need, if applicable) Other Items Watch with alarm (Important: you will not have your phone to use as a clock or alarm) Ziploc bags, gallon size 3 Laundry Bag MONEY Spending Money Return Travel Money, to cover baggage fees, unaccompanied minor fees, etc. Copy of Insurance Card, 2-sided copy, for your child to carry OPTIONAL Book Camera (Disposable film cameras are available at our store) Crazy Creek Chair Extra Batteries/ SD card for Camera Gaiters, calf length. Moleskin and athletic tape (suggested, if you are prone to blisters) Neck Gaiter or Buff Pocket Knife NOTE: Please inform field staff if you bring a pocket knife. Postage Stamps Sarong or Cotton Sheet Toiletries: small brush, hand sanitizer, nail clippers, dental floss, and small shampoo/conditioner
4 Leadership Matters Packing List Items included with your Scholarship The following items are available with a DHE scholarship, although we encourage participants to bring them from home if that is an option. Each scholarship includes the items below in the quantities required (as indicated in the Total Quantity Required column). If an item is listed as available for purchase, the participant may keep it upon completion of the program. If the item is listed as available for rental, it must be returned at the end of the program. Our leaders will assist participants in packing for each section of the program.
