1 NEWSLETTER No.89 February 2016 GAM MIAMI June 17 th - 19 th, 2016 NEWS MORE INFO ON THE GAM We have already started registration for this year s General Assembly Meeting in Miami! As last year, the meeting will be opened on Friday afternoon with some words by Mr. Desmond Falla, our Chairman, and presentations from our sponsors. This will be followed by the Welcoming Reception where you will have the chance to meet your old partners again and have the chance to meet the new members, our sponsors and our guests. And ideal occasion for networking and getting ready for the following day s meeting. Saturday will be an intense day, with committee activities, one-on-one meetings and, very important, a strategic session to present the improvements in the In-House Protection Program to the membership. In the evening we will hold our traditional Gala Dinner, after which we will present the Excellence Awards, the Membership Certificates to new members and various other prices and tokens of appreciation. On Sunday, Members will have the chance to vote on several internal issues and to continue their rounds of one-on-one meetings. In the evening, be ready for some nice activity organized by DRT INTERNATIONAL, our host. As you already know, the meeting will take place at the EPIC HOTEL MIAMI a modern high-rise Downtown hotel strategically located on the Miami River, just 2 miles from the Port of Miami and about 7 miles from Miami International Airport. The EPIC is an excellent base for exploring Miami while enjoying the most fantastic facilities and services. FIATA CONGRESS 2016 DUBLIN This year the FIATA World Congress will be taking place in Dublin from October 3 to 8, 2016 and TPF FORWARDING NETWORK will be there at stand number 12, right next to the doors that give access to the keynotes. TPF has a long tradition of attending the exhibition of the FIATA Congress for recruitment purposes. After a few years of absence from this event while other actions took preference, the BoD and the Recruitment & Marketing Committee decided it was time to go back. Mr. Desmond Falla, TPF Chairman, and Ms. Begonia Arsuaga, TPF General Manager, will be manning the stand and introducing TPF to attendees; most especially, to companies in markets where our group is not currently represented. If you intend to attend the congress, please get in touch with us so that we can meet, make plans and work together. If you will not be attending, you can still help but letting us know your priority markets so that we can talk to forwarders in those countries and find the right partners for you. You can contact Mr. Mendoza at nmmendoza@awards.com.ph ON MEMBERS TRACOSA (SPAIN): IMANI - A MOST SPECIAL PASSENGER Imani is a female white-crowned mangabey (Cercocebus atys lunulatus), one of an endangered species of monkey that originates from Africa, although she was born in Bioparc Valencia (Spain). On February 25, Imani travelled with TRACOSA from Bioparc Valencia to her new home at Zoo Bioparco in Rome (Italy). She flew from Valencia Manises Airport to Rome Fiumicino Airport. She did not travel alone, however. TRACOSA s aim was to make Imani feel comfortable and to take care of her and provide her with anything she might need at any time during the journey. So she was accompanied all IMANI, on the right, with a friend. the way by a caregiver, a professional with long experience in looking after animals that have to travel. The two made a break in their journey and spent the night at Zurich Kloten Airport, where a special room had been prepared for Imani: a kind of VIP area for live animals, where she was fed and where she could feel relaxed, warm and protected. BIOPARC Valencia ( ) is an immersion-designed wildlife park which recreates authentic habitats for its exhibits and gives visitors the sense of being in the animals' natural environments. Buildings and barriers are hidden. Instead, ponds, streams, vegetation and rocks are used to separate visitors from the animals, reproducing ecosystems and incorporating multi-species enclosures. Sights and sounds from nature are also reproduced. This allows visitors to enjoy a unique experience, very similar to watching the same animals in the wild. TRACOSA team in Valencia is highly delighted and proud to be working with Bioparc and playing our part in this splendid and important project. The team at TRACOSA knew it was hard for Bioparc Valencia to say goodbye to Imani, but they were absolutely sure that she will be very well looked after and much loved in Rome. TRACOSA Valencia feels great satisfaction in helping to bring the experience of animal diversity to Italian people and, most especially, to all the kids.

4 Contact Mr. Marco Garcia from TRACOSA ADUANAS for assistance to and from anywhere in Spain, and for very special cargo, at PIONEER (HONG KONG): 14 TH ANNUAL DINNER Mr. Smith Hong, from PIONEER, our member in Hong Kong, Southern China and Northern China, reported that PIONEER Hong Kong hosted its 14 th annual meeting of the staff on Feb. 20th. It was the largest Annual Dinner in Pioneer s history, with over 80 guests in attendance. The event had three main phases: Phase one: Performance from each department Every year, each department in PIONEER arranges a special performance for showing team spirit and work and for making their Annual Dinner more fun. Thanks to the sponsorship from many partners and the arrangements made by PIONEER s management, this year s annual dinner turned out to be the most passionate contest ever, with many different performances on show, including singing, dancing, playing instruments, etc, that resulted in great entertainment. Phase two : Prize for 5, 10 years co-worker PIONEER Hong Kong deeply appreciates its staff and very especially those co-workers who have been in the company for long years. As a deeply felt token of appreciation, PIONEER gave Mr. Bee a gold ring as an award for 5 years of service and Mrs. Cathy Ng, a Rolex watch for 10 years of service. This is a gesture of appreciation for their long and precious time with the company and a wish for many more years of fruitful cooperation.

5 Phase three: various games PIONEER organized various other special activities and games for their staff, guests and accompanying people. Prizes given to attendees were as diverse as the events and highly desirable: from iphone 6s to airline tickets! Pioneer Shenzhen branch held own annual dinner on 26 Feb As the office with the second longest history in PIONEER, Shenzhen branch also had its own special Annual Dinner. There was a dancing and singing contest as well as various games and awards for contribution of co-workers and partners. We are sure everybody at PIONEER is already planning their performance for next year s Annual Dinner and looking forward to the celebration. Congratulations to PIONEER for such successful events! 6 UNITY FREIGHT (BANGLADESH): APPRECIATION As part of his role as TPF s President and in preparation for the next GAM, Mr. Desmond Falla is scheduling video-conferences with each and all TPF members individually to discuss with them the Association s current status, the things they are satisfied/dissatisfied with and any ideas, suggestions or comments they may have. On Feb 17, Mr. Falla and Ms. Arsuaga held a conference with Mr. Zahid A. Siddique from UNITY FREIGHT, our member in Bangladesh. Mr. Zahid s feed-back was really positive and he made a special point of thanking those members who are cooperating or trying to cooperate with them in developing business. Here are some of his comments: It is indeed a nice decision from the Head of TPF to speak to all members one by one that obviously will bring good result I do believe. Some additional awareness may grow among members where all of us should try to do for the network from their individual locations wherever we are. Moreover, my understanding is that it is not the issue we would be meeting at a place annually but also to have some awareness, intention and tasks on every day's movements. We might forget about the events of meeting once a year but if the process grows and we think about our responsibility for TPF everyday even for minutes what to be done, I think this can be a small thing today but can be a big thing for tomorrow. As far as TPF is concerned yes, we are quite happy with TPF and good members. We must say all of the members are very good and responsive which is a major requirement of customers to get response on timely manner and this is helping us to introduce TPF to our valued customers as one name around the globe. Mr. Zahid wanted to thank the kind assistance and helpful cooperation of KORMAN in Eastern China, PT GITA TATA EKSPRESINO in Indonesia, STEINACHER in Belgium and BNX in Canada. He also mentioned he would like us to add a member in Denmark as that is one of his main markets. 7 ZUPA GULASZOWA (POLISH GOULASH SOUP) Ingredients 300 g pork meat 200 g beef meat 2 onions Some butter or oil for frying 100 g carrot 1 green pepper 1 red pepper 4 fleshy tomatoes 1 L of pure hot water 1 teaspoonful of salt 2 teaspoonfuls of sweet paprika Ground black pepper Powdered chili pepper to taste One or two cloves of garlic One spoonful of cream Instructions TPF RECIPES Mr. Michael Kisiel from DOR CEL (Poland) explains to us that this delicious soup comes from the traditional Hungarian recipes and for decades it has also been popular in the Polish cuisine. The following recipe describes 'Polish' goulash soup, which corresponds to Hungarian 'goulash' ('gulyás' in Hungarian) but is less spicy than the original Hungarian equivalent (in Poland, the word 'goulash' on its own means a dense sauce) Peel and slice the onions. Put some oil or butter in a frying pan and fry the onion gently. When the onion browns a bit, add the meat cut into small pieces and fry it together with the onion making sure it is properly cooked on all sides. In the meantime peel wash and cut the carrots crosswise into round slices. Clean both peppers, halve them and remove seeds and white parts. Rinse them with water and cut them into stripes. Dip the tomatoes in boiling water to peel them more easily. Once peeled, cut the base of the stem out and dice them. When the meat is fried, add the carrot, peppers and tomatoes into the frying pan. Fry for about 5 minutes. Move the entire content of the frying pan to the pot and cover with 1 liter of hot filtered or mineral water (4 cups). Mix it well, keep heating and leave for 5 minutes. Add the sweet paprika, salt and chili pepper. Cover it and let it simmer for 1 hour. Then, turn the heating off and add the pressed cloves of garlic to the goulash and the black pepper. Taste and rectify salt or spices. Allow the soup to cool down a bit before adding the cream. It can be re-heated but don t let it boil! Serve with nice bread rolls. It sounds really delicious for a cold winter day! Smacznego!
