1 Visit to Pakistan by UK Commonwealth and Parliamentary Association (CPA) January 2011 Aim. To enable UK Members to understand better the democratic challenges facing their parliamentary colleagues in the National and Provincial Assemblies. Objectives. 1. To understand parliamentary processes, representational issues and capacity issues (in light of Amendment 18 to the Constitution) at national and provincial level. 2. To enhance and energise existing bilateral links between the national parliaments, with a view to initiating a partnership arrangement. 3. To discuss wider Commonwealth and CPA issues with parliamentary colleagues. 4. Learn more about the work of the FCO, DFID and the British Council in-country, with a particular focus on governance, civil society, youth and minorities, and education.
