PRESENTATIONS 1) BVHP Spotlight -I Heart Bayview SF- Alex Gudich, CCSF Office of Civic Innovation Alex, explained what I heart has done in the city. Starting with the next library design and initiative to eating healthy project in SF. Recently they have partnered with the YMCA, Youth Radio, Baycat and the Youth Commission to launch a project to bring positive stories from neighborhoods. 3 2) BVHP Opera House-Bayview Connect, Final Renovations Plans, D2D Summer Prg.- Barbara Ockel & Rebecca Gallegos, BVOH Barbara introduced herself to everyone, the opera house will be going through a major renovation for about 8 to 10 months. The opera house will be hosting more events on the mendell plaza, improving the area around the opera house. Barbara asked everyone could support the local restaurants. This Saturday, March 23 from 9-12pm a Afro-Peruvian Dance Lessons (pilot program) will begin. A scripture area will be available on April 20, 2013, 11 to 3pm. Bayview Connect event will be for people to connect and mingle with everyone. 3) Education Law Clinics-Cecilia Chen, Esq., Thurgood Marshall Civic Rights Fellow, Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Cecilia, SF law clinic aims to protect the education rights to SF students & provide services. Clinics composed of two parts, know your rights, individuals intake to consult with an attorney. Next clinic will be Tuesday, May14, 2013, 6-8pm SF Main Library (to be confirmed). Translation services will be provided in Spanish. Drop-ins are welcome at the law clinic. COMMUNITY BUILDING 1) POWER Black Prioritize Project Listening Session & Free Muni for Youth Update-Alicia Garza, & Beatriz Herrera, POWER Darryl asked for everyone to support the pilot program, free muni for youth project. Beatriz explained the deadline is on a rolling basis until the program ends. Someone asked if the kids are coming from the Eastbay to the city would they qualify for the program? The program is for SF residents. Alicia, introduced a new project listen sessions. She said Power has been working with the African Americans population and currently has listening sessions (2hrs) going to show the importance of African Americans here in SF. Everyone here in San Francisco can t afford to stay and live here. 2) BVHP Mobility Management Planning Update- Christina Goette, DPH Jessie (former SFTA staff) gave an overview of the pilot service model. This progress has been very technical process. Ownership issues and financial responsible concerns have been expressed. There are very unique issues in BVHP. 4 shared van service. Big discussions on how would this plan happen. The spin off on the plan, community based, cultural sensitive, outreach plan. The working group is a predecessor. Different partners would like to be a part of the program (partnership). The draft has been send to the TA board. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT 1) D10 Peace Forum- Update The forum will take place on Wednesday, April 3, pm-8pm, at College Track. The forum surveys were passed around and ask to be summit before the forum. Lyslynn asked everyone if they would complete the D10 community forum survey that was provided with today s agenda. The survey will be collected and given to the Mayor Office for the IPO. 2) BVHP Youth Summit, Saturday, April 13 th -Update The 2nd Annual Bayview Youth Summit, We Overcome Our Struggles Around Here will be happened Saturday, April 13, 2013, 10am-3pm. Volunteers are needed, information is available on Bmagic website. 3) House I Live In Screening Monday, March 25 th Herbst 7:30pm-Sign Up If anyone is interested in attending the showing of the House I Live In there is a signup sheet going around. The tickets will be left at will call for organization.
