2 Our Mission The mission of the San Francisco Parks Alliance is to inspire and promote civic engagement and philanthropy to protect, sustain and enrich San Francisco parks, recreation and green open spaces.
3 Community Engagement & Partnerships (CEP) is responsible for the programs of the Parks Alliance. CEP uses community engagement to transform, beautify & steward the city s open spaces. CEP has four main program areas: Street Parks Groundplay Park Partners Blue Greenway

5 Street Parks equip residents in transforming blighted cityowned land into parks, public art, & community spaces. Ridge Lane, pedestrian throughway/ community space in Ingleside on PW Paper Street. Phase 1 of 5 completed Tunnel Top Park, community rec space, garden & dog park in Potrero/ Dogpatch on CalTrain land. Phase 1 completed 2016 Hidden Garden Steps, Inner Sunset, completed 2015
6 Street Park Projects Public Works gives groups the freedom to create community spaces that reflect the neighborhood s need, resulting in a wide range of innovative projects. On average, Street Parks take 1-3 years to build with a budget of $10,000 to $300,000. Pennsylvania Street Garden, drought tolerant community garden on CalTrans Freeway Onramp in Potrero/Dogpatch, Completed 2015 There are 136 street parks 23 are fiscally sponsored by Parks Alliance Street Parks Program Manager has four main duties: 1. Community liaison 2. Project manager 3. Workday coordination 4. Outreach
7 Groundplay turns underutilized rights-of-ways into a public laboratory for unique temporary activations. Annie Alley, carfree space for gatherings and events in the middle of the bustling Yerba Buena District. Opened 2014 Playland at 43 rd Ave, multi-use community space with garden, skate park & art, Outer Sunset, opened 2016 (SFUSD) San Jose Guerrero former street to pedestrian space. In phase 3 of the temporary, permanent will be built 2018.
8 The Parks Alliance advises and supports Park Partners on how to create, program, enhance, & steward, open spaces through community engagement. Lincoln Park Steps, Outer Richmond, Opened 2015 Joe DiMaggio Playground, North Beach, Opened 2015 Urban Sprouts, off the grid kitchen at June Jordan School for Equity Garden, Excelsior. Opened 2017
9 Park Partners build new parks, provide outdoor education, increase food access, create gardens, restore habitat, activate open spaces, beautify through public art, & renovate existing parks & playgrounds. Garden for the Environment, SF s only teaching & demonstration garden, Inner Sunset Literacy for Environmental Justice, native plant nursery outside of Candlestick State Park. Mission Community Market Sutro Stewards, habitat trail restoration, Mt. Sutro The Greenhouse Project, Portola Sign Larsen Playground, Outer Sunset
10 Blue Greenway What is it? 13 miles system of trails & parks that goes from AT&T Park to Candlestick Point. The Blue Greenway is a unifying identity for the rapidly changing southeast. 15 Let splaysf Fundraising $15.5 million from 2012 bond SF Parks Alliance and Department committed to raising additional $11 million in private funds by Pledged/given to date: $3,039,258 Cash in the door: $1,765, donors to date
16 Let splaysf Project Delivery RPD Commission has approved our MOU with the Department for management and oversight of the campaign. We have proposals from two firms for design at Panhandle Playground and Alice Chalmers Playground, both Tier 1 sites, and are working on getting a third proposal from CMG for McLaren Picnic Area playground.
