3 President s Message With my first meeting over and done I still find myself wondering how I got to be president, but I have to say that I think it will be a fairly easy job because the Club has such dedicated and seasoned members that most of the work is already being taken care of. In a review at the meeting of the plans for the upcoming months, we have individuals who are working hard to make sure our events are scheduled, marketed, and executed in an organized fashion. It s great to be part of such a wonderful group of people! That being said I would like to make a note to all that our February meeting will take place at our Banquet on Saturday, February 15th at Jimmy s in Vadnais Heights. Even if you can t make it to monthly meetings, we would like to encourage you to attend to visit with all the wonderful people in the Club you belong to. The evening is a fun social event, and often times educational as well. We hope to see you there! Tony Miller, Tomahawk Chief Page 2

4 January Meeting Minutes We met at the Rosetown Legion with 20 members present. New president Tony Miller called the meeting to order at 7:01. Last month s minutes were read and accepted. A report was given by our new treasurer Jim Notch. Jim Felker was in the hospital and is now is in a Masonic transition place and hopes to be home in a week. There will be a Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Cadillac swap meet in St. Charles Illinois on Feburary 23 at the Kane County fairgrounds. See for more info. A motion was brought forward about having our February meeting at the banquet, it passed. The March meeting is the annual pizza feast at Carbone s (March 18th). A motion was made and accepted to purchase QuickBooks software for the Tomahawk Chapter treasurer ($150-$200). Steve Mudbird Weese Tomahawk Chapter Secretary Old Business - Todd informed us that he has been in touch with Tasha about our stuff. New Business - The GM show will be on June 8th. We plan to have the same program as the last few years, goody bags on Thursday and tent set up on Saturday. If anyone has something for the goody bags they are asked to contact Terry Ford. Next month we would like to share ideas and plan what changes we would like to make to the Route 65 Show. Like more trophies or who to blame if the weather is not as nice as last year. It will be on April 26. I mentioned a proposal that I had gotten about running the Stone Arch Bridge Show. It is during Back to the 50 s and many of our member s will be coming back from the convention. There was some discussion about recruiting new members. VOTE - VOTE -VOTE Please take the time to vote for the POCI Board of Directors Election. Include the Tomahawk Chapter as your chapter affiliation. There is a $200 award for the chapter with the highest participation. BALLOTS ARE IN THE FEBRUARY SMOKE SIGNALS! Page 3

10 GREAT RESOURCE! This has to be one of the neatest web sites-- whether you have gasoline in your veins or not. This is a website featuring the original factory brochures for nearly every American car you have ever owned. Pick the manufacturer, the year and the model. Enjoy! website: Check it out! ed to me from another POCI member - Editor I didn t know this until recently, but Hal Needham passed away on Oct. 25th. I am very glad I got the chance to meet him and share some time on the Bandit Run!! Tom Hegland with Hal Needham He was an incredibly down to earth and easy to talk with. He was great story teller, as demonstrated in his acceptance speech for his Oscar. I was lucky enough to be his chauffeur while he was in Lincoln, NE for the Bandit Run Kick off Party, so I had several candid conversations with him. He was as sharp as a tack and as we spoke, you never had any sense that you were talking to someone who was 82 years of age. He certainly lived an amazing life and achieved many milestones that changed the movie industry for ever. His list of accomplishments is amazing and almost hard to believe as you read through it. I know many will miss him. See: - submitted by Tom Hegland Page 9
