1 July President s Message Hello fellow club members Volume 153 July It is summertime! 100+ degrees heat and sunshine! Linda and I, have turned our attention to summer activities. Bike riding, fishing, travel, and all of the other things this club and California offers. This is an active social club and we have activities scheduled year round. We have organized bike rides, walks, wine tasting, kayaking, baseball events and hockey events on our schedule. In addition to our scheduled events, we can use our Lodge as a base for golfing, and biking or hiking over the high Sierra and around Tahoe. I have observed that skiers love to be active and enjoy life to its fullest. Our next meeting will be a BBQ and pot luck at the Riedel home on the River on July 12. This is a not to be missed opportunity to dine with friends while overlooking the river below. FWSA Convention will be in Boise ID next year. Plan on attending, Maarten Vandermeer s family (granddaughter Emil with her Boise College ski team) will be active supporters of this convention. This club has lots of summer activities to keep you alive. In addition you do need to plan the coming years ski trips: FWSA Ski Week at Breckenridge, BAC Park City UT Ski Week, Sun Peaks in Canada, a possible MSC Jackson Hole Ski Trip in March, plus International Ski trips by FWSA available on the web site. 2 MODESTO SKI CLUB LODGE NEWS Hello! Summer is in full force and we have had some really warm weather to prove it. The Lodge looks great and all the members and guests that have been to the Lodge so far this summer have enjoyed cooler temperatures in Truckee for sure. The Work Weekend for the fall is September 23-25, Work Weekends are a great way to meet many members and learn how the Lodge really functions. Be sure to let me know if you re interested in participating at the Work Weekend. Just a couple housekeeping issues. Be sure to dump the trash before you leave for home. Don t let food sit in the garbage disposal units either. It rots and then really smells. Turn the thermostat down to 50 before you leave for home. PLEASE do not leave lights on. TURN THEM OFF when leaving for home. Thanks in advance for your help with keeping the Lodge clean after your stay. Remember to leave it as if you were the next person to visit. BAC Ski Trip at Jackson Hole, WY Nothing is carved in stone at this point one trip could be on Feb 26 - March 4, 2017 and the other on could be March 5-11, 2017 so as soon as a decision is made, you will be notified Norm Azevedo has asked our Club to take over the Tailgate BBQ at the August 13th Oakland A's Game.
