3 Be Inspired Welcome to the 10th anniversary edition of the Flowers of the Dales Festival, celebrating all things wild and wonderful in and around the Yorkshire Dales. Each year the Festival brings together an exciting collection of activities inspired by nature. More than 39,000 people have taken part so far an achievement we at Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, as Festival coordinators, are incredibly proud of. In this, the Festival s tenth year, we have more than 110 events on offer between March and November, provided by passionate experts and enthusiasts, so we hope you ll find inspiration in the following pages. We have activities for all ages - choose from guided walks, talks, family activities, arts and crafts, identification courses, conservation days and photography workshops, to name just a few. Wildflowers can be found all over the Dales; in traditionally-managed hay meadows, ancient woodlands, heather-clad moors and amongst limestone pavement. These special habitats and their wildflowers provide food and shelter throughout the year to support a wealth of wildlife, including bugs, birds and bats. The Festival aims to help you discover the wonderful wildflowers of the Yorkshire Dales for yourself, and to gain an understanding of the careful management required to ensure that this special place can be enjoyed by wildlife and people in years to come. A special thank you We would like to say a huge thank you to players of People s Postcode Lottery, whose vital ongoing support helps to make this annual festival possible. With a minimum of 32% of the ticket price going directly to charities and good causes like Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, players have raised over 272 Million, making an incredible difference to inspiring projects that support both people and the planet. The Flowers of the Dales Festival is just one of the countless projects supported by players of the charity lottery. We re also grateful to H2A Limited for producing this programme.
