1 THE GRAPEVINE Pine Island Cove Newsletter Volume 35 Issue 4 April from the Board of Directors Hello everyone The season is almost over and many of you are getting ready to go north. The Board would like to wish you a Great Summer and hope you all will be safe and enjoy your time while home. Visit the Pine Island Cove Website - mypineislandcove.com/ Thursday March 17, 2016 was our last Association meeting. Much was discussed about what we will be doing this summer, such things as the retention pond, smoke test (March 24), contracts being signed for boat ramp, and hiring a new contractor & aeration system being installed. This new contractor will also test and treat the canals and lake. We hope he will be doing a much better job than the last contractor. We will be keeping you informed as things progress through the summer. I would like to take the time to ask you to remember to store all objects that might cause damage to other homes in case of a storm or hurricane. Please remove all yard art and plants in pots, etc. Remember to secure boats and other large objects. Please think of your neighbors and their property. I thank you all for your anticipated cooperation. We should also like to warn all residents that there are many thefts taking place all over the Island and in the Cove. Please be sure to lock all golf carts, bicycles and three wheelers. Just to remind you, remember that the office will be closed on Wednesday s in May till October 5 th. We will have more to report next month. Thanks from your Board Inside this Issue PICHA Information... 2 Website News... 3 Acknowledgements.. 3 New Neighbors... 3 Activities, etc Service Ads... 6 Contact Info... 6 Reminders... 7 Pine Island Cove our little place in paradise Editor s Note /27/2016

2 A Note From the PICHA When the Board of Directors asked me to notify residents when parking rules were violated some residents were surprised and some were angry. I thought it might be beneficial to review some of the rules and regulations: 7. All Park residents must display the PICHA sticker with their lot number on the sticker on the windshield of their vehicle(s). All guests with vehicles must display a mirror tag, in plain sight, at all times while driving in the Park or using the various facilities. Park residents may keep a guest tag at their homes for use by their guests. 8. Parking at your residence is permitted only on paved areas. Occasional parking in the street by visitors and residents in certain circumstances is permitted. No overnight or on-going daily street parking is allowed. Motor homes and travel trailers are limited to twenty four (24) hours for loading or unloading. Owners are reminded to position their vehicle for minimum interference with their neighbors. Additional parking is provided in the posted area near the boat ramp, and in Ladyfish Compound & Cobiac Compound. All vehicles must display a hanging mirror guest tag with the owner's lot number shown or a Pine Island Cove sticker. No storage or long term parking is permitted at the boat ramp or Ladyfish Compound. Clubhouse parking spaces are for use by members attending functions in this common area. No other use is permitted. Failure to observe parking rules will result in vehicles being tagged and recorded. Repeated incidents may result in loss of park privileges and penalties including towing of vehicles at owner's expense....barry Thrasher Administrative Assistant to the Board of Directors PICHA PIC Office Hours The office will be closed for the summer months on Wednesdays starting May 4. 4 Activities, Committees, Clubs and Group News Bingo Another season of bingo is coming to an end with only two more weeks of games ending on April 12 th. If you haven't joined us yet on a Tuesday evening please come and give it a try. Coffee is ready and cards are on sale at 5:30 with games commencing at 6:30. For $7 you can play all the games with a chance to win much more. Never played bingo? Don't worry, we will show you how. No worries, it's all about the fun! And if you bring one or two items for the food pantry you will get a free card to play for each item. Speaking of the food pantry, as of 3/21 PIC bingo has donated 622 lbs. of food to the pantry. I am excited to see what our final total for the season will be. We have already surpassed last year s total of 595 lbs. None of this would be possible without the generosity of the Cove bingo players, thank you so much!! And I would also like to give a big thanks to all the people who have volunteered this season to help me with bingo. I certainly couldn't do it without your help and I appreciate it very much. I enjoy having fun with the bingo players every Tuesday evening and I hope it is fun for you also. See you in October when we will begin again. Have a great summer everyone. The Board approved the purchase of 12 new chairs to replace the old and deteriorating ones. These chairs meet commercial grade criteria. They are larger, sturdier, and heavier, have non-skid feet, and will accommodate persons weighing up to 300 lbs. Nine people volunteered to clean the deck area and all the furniture on Feb. 23 rd. Thanks to Lori Smith, Kathy Saxon, Randy Copenhagen, Marilee Delius, Nancy Moore, Joan Gilbert, Dick Knapp, and Gary Schmidt. If you missed this latest opportunity to help out, look for another chance to help in April when we get the pool area ready for the summer months! Several people have mentioned that the pool deck seems unusually slippery lately. Please use extra caution around the pool and consider wearing non-skid shoes or sandals when walking on the pool deck, using the shower area, and when entering or exiting the pool and spa.
