Club Meeting March 20, 5:00pm Highland Park Improvement Club Cookies provided by Jeff Sarvis and Matt Mechler. Subject of the Month Bake Sale Bring goodies to sell and money to buy! Membership dues: ($25 individual, $30 family) 2016 dues must be paid by January 31, 2016 to be eligible for March meeting contests. Joys and Concerns: None. Awards: The Jug of Hope, worth $22 was won by Jeff Sarvis. The Silver Dollar raffle was won by Billy Davis. The AOK went to Rick Razor for cleaning up trash another detectorist left behind. The No-No went to Mark Kulseth for showing up late to the club hunt. Correspondence from other clubs: PSTHC Charity night hunt is March 12 th, Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Tacoma MDAW meeting is March 13 th, Belfair library, 11am Gold and Treasure Show is April 2 nd and 3 rd, Thurston County Expo Center SWATH Hunt is May 6 th 8 th, Richland, WA Mayfest Hunt is May 27 th 29 th, Stanwood Fairgrounds NWTH Annual Hunt is June 17 th 19 th, Athol, Idaho Fraser Valley 4 th Annual Hunt is July 23 rd, Chilliwack Heritage Park PSTHC Lenny Phay hunt is August 6 th, location TBD Club meetings now held from 5:00 to 7:30 PM on the third Sunday of each month. Chairs and tables must be clean and stored at the end of each club meeting. The club plaque, pictured above, has been hidden. The club member who finds the plaque will win $20. Hints to date: I was once a island with giant trees. Mr. Schwagerl was my biggest fan. Dinner and a show, what a great idea. Gold, platinum and silver testing and value assessment: At each meeting, Matt Mechler and Jon Gentry have a gram scale and diamond tester. Ron Aldridge can test gold and silver, and can also help with markings and hallmarks.
3 Page 3 of 6 Newsletter Title Gold Coin Raffle: A new raffle has started. The prize is a 1/10 oz gold eagle coin. See Jon Gentry for tickets. Scavenger Hunt Contest: The current hunt list can be found at the back of this newsletter. The hunt runs until the May club meeting. Web site: The new web site continues to be in work, but has been rolled out. Some browser/screen size combinations may have formatting problems Allison is working to get them fixed. Forward changes and updates to Sue Kaas smkaas@msn.com. Selling table: The table is available for members to bring items they wish to sell or trade. No used appliances or cars are allowed. Members who bring items must remove them at the end of the meeting. Club hats and patches: Available at club meetings. Patches are $8, hats are $15. Subject of the Month for February: Yearly recognition and awards. Cookies for February: Loraine Robbins and Bill Becker. Detecting on public land: Always check with city, county, state or other websites for current metal detecting regulations before you go. Washington State Parks Metal Detecting pamphlet and web site answers many questions about which state parks are open and where to hunt. Check out their web site for more information: The new Parks liaison is Lisa Lantz. She can be contacted at lisalantz@parks.wa.gov Silver Shoot Planning: The event will be held on July 30 th. The location has been confirmed (New Life Church nd Ave. SE, Renton). We re working on a checklist of details. We have purchased 1,480 silver coins for the event, and raffle tickets are almost ready. There is a donation box and a treasure chest at each meeting for anyone who wants to donate to the hunt. Reminder: Use a ground cloth when digging in grassy areas to avoid leaving a mess. Activity fees for non-members: $15 for club activities, $12 for hunts only. Club growth: The CTC is always looking for new members. Ideas for new activities, ways to help our community or to promote our hobby are always welcomed. Food Bank donations: Donations are needed all year long to support local food banks. It is suggested that each member bring at least one can of food to each meeting. Please ensure the items are unopened and not past their pull dates. Activity List: Consider how you might support activities in Subject of the Month for February: Yearly awards. Cookies for February: Loraine Robbins and Bill Becker.
