Charles did an informative presentation of recent coins & relics fresh from being cleared through English customs. Included were Roman & Medieval coins & many interesting relics. On a similar note Mark brought his items from a Sept England trip near Colchester. Ralph was in Berlin during the taking down of the Berlin Wall in 1989 & had actual pieces of the concrete wall. Rick talked about his coins & relics from Denmark, Germany, Mexico & Canada. Joys & Concerns...A warm welcome to guest Mark Mentanino. John and Donna Shape welcomed their 1st great grandchild, a girl named Mylee Dawn, on Saturday 8/17. Garry Robbins retired from Boeing Co. in July. Jennell Jenkins is learning to drive & is now working at the QFC in Newcastle. Jim & Lois are doing fine & we hope to see them at the Surf & Sand Hunt. On a sadder note Jim Richards sister passed away in Montana & long standing club member Walt Sipila passed away after a long illness on Sunday 8/18.

The Club Plaque Contest...The club plaque is a unique piece of metal buried some where in King County & a clue to its location is given monthly until found. Five clues have been given & apparently someone outside of the club has found it & has yet to be returned. Jon Gentry will make a new one & the contest will resume in the fall. Detecting on Public Land...Mark J. & others are putting together a pamphlet on public sites that do not allow metal detecting. When in doubt check with city, county, state or other inter-governmental websites for current regulations as there could be serious consequences both for you & the hobby in general. Washington State Parks website in progress identifying allowable metal detecting sites. Detecting Alerts!...Please be aware of the warming weather & its hastened effect on drying out plugs. A suggestion would be to avoid detecting on lawns & meadows (public & private) until the rainy season begins in early winter. Typically a dried plug will be blown out when mowed or birds may pull a plug looking for worms. Beach detecting or in wooded areas might be a good alternative. Also with the warm weather more people are observing our hobby & perhaps asking more questions. Courtesy & rapport can present our hobby in a more positive light & discussion about the removal of junk & hazardous material will probably go a lot further than talking about that last silver coin. Metal Detecting Hobby Talk News brief...a newsletter worth checking out containing topics such as special events, legislation, discoveries, updates & other topics related to metal detecting & gold New in the Newsletter...On occasion the newsletter editor will put interesting information or stories about the hobby. Any topics of interest are gladly welcomed. Charles Paxton gave an informative presentation on his recent trip to England. Included were Roman, Medieval & Geogian coins & relics.

5 Sat. Oct. 26th, 2013 Reg. 6-6:45pm T he Cascade Treasure Club will be hosting our 40th annual Moonlight Hunt at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. We will be meeting at one of the picnic shelters on the south end of the park. There will be two hunts, hot beverages, fire, snacks and a raffle for some nice prizes. The first hunt will be a warm -up hunt with some tokens for prizes. Then there will be a short break, around ½ hour and the main hunt will begin with several tokens for prizes. ROY FOOD BANK NIGHT HUNT at Reber Ranch nd Ave. SE, Kent, WA Saturday, Oct 12, 2013 The Puget Sound Treasure Hunters Club will be conducting the Roy Food Bank Hunt charity event this year. Open to all. Event will consist of three hunts, raffles, and collecting of nonperishable food items for the Roy Food Bank. 3 Hunts $25 Schedule: (TIMES MAY VARY) Registration starting before nightfall at 5 pm. 1st Hunt - Twilight Hunt - 6-6:30 pm 2nd Hunt - Moonless Night Hunt - 7-7:30 pm 3rd Hunt - Pitch Black Hunt - 8-8:30 pm Raffles - 9 pm All hunts will be held on the grass field in the middle of the horse track. 100% of your fees goes into the hunt. Field items will include clad and tokens for silver. RAFFLES: Silver dollar raffles held throughout the evening. A NEW Bounty Hunter metal detector and several SILVER items will be raffled at the end of the event. Canned food and other nonperishable food items can be traded for raffle tickets for this drawing. PSTHC is donating 100% of the net proceeds of the raffles to the Roy Food Bank.
