This will take you to Amazon.com where you can order anything that you desire. By doing this Amazon will give the club 4% of your purchase if it comes from Amazon and 3% if it comes from elsewhere. BAN is a nonprofit organization and is celebrating its 31st year of serving our local community. In past years ITTHC members have helped fill Christmas stockings which BAN then distributed to children and seniors in our local areas. In addition, throughout the year, we have collected items from BAN s Needs List to help stock their pantries and supplies. BAN has moved into their new facility which is located on the back lot of their old location. They will have plenty of space to accommodate most anything club members would like to donate. There is always a high demand for items such as canned goods, boxed food items, and toiletries. We will be happy to deliver items club members bring to any of our meetings and/or outings. Since the list of needed items is pretty constant, we will forgo the usual monthly list in the club newsletter. In case you would like to see what s on their list, you can visit The Broken Arrow Neighbors website: and look for the category Current Needs List. Through recent discussions with the ITTHC board, we will continue to support BAN with the following two main projects: Back-to-School and Christmas. Many thanks to all those club members who have already helped this year with donating back-to-school supplies. The second main project is our Christmas Collection and since the holiday season will be arriving soon it s time to start thinking of how we can help others who are less fortunate in our community. This year again, in lieu of Christmas stockings, we are asking club members to donate canned goods and/ or make money contributions to this effort. Any money collected will be matched by ITTHC and will be given to BAN to help with their Christmas basket distribution. We will have a collection can for this purpose at the Oct, Nov, & Dec meetings. Treasure News Page 5 5 ITTHC Christmas Party Saturday - December 13th Owasso Community Center (Large Meeting Room - No Kitchen Facilities) Please arrive early to help set up. 6:00 pm - Setup and decorate 6:30 pm - Appetizers 7:00 pm - Dinner is served 7:30 pm - Santa arrives/raffles Families bringing main course: Turkey - Mike Mitchell (2) Ham - John & Rachel Hayworth, Cody Reese, Mike Mitchell Each family is asked to bring one each of the following food items. If your last name begins with: A thru L - Bring appetizer and vegetable dish M thru Z - Bring salad and dessert BRING YOU OWN DRINKS Pam Cook will be helping Santa this year. Children 11 and younger will be given a gift by Santa. Please contact Pam ( or cogsec3@aol.com) by Thu Dec 11th with names/ages/ gender of children you are bringing. If you do not notify her, please bring a wrapped gift with their name on it. (approx $5 in value). There will be a centerpiece drawing. Only those bringing centerpieces will be eligible to win in the drawing. You bring one you go home with a different one. There will be a RAFFLE & pot at the party. This is typically the largest raffle of the year. Please try to bring donations for the raffle. There WILL NOT be a find of the month. Items found since the Nov meeting can be entered at the January meeting. We will still be collecting for the Broken Arrow Neighbors. (See page 4 for the needs list.) We will also be collecting $$$ to help with the completion of this year s stocking project. 6 6 I.T.T.H.C. Treasure News Page 6 CLUB OUTINGS CHOSEN BY MEMBERS In the past few weeks we have been having difficulties in finding places for a club hunt. Either because we cannot make contact with the landowners, or because of people not showing respect for the property & landowner by just entering the property without permission to detect, or by leaving gates open & breaking down fence and multiple other reasons. If any of the members know of any property that would make a good place for a club hunt and they want to try to get permission from the landowner for this property then feel free to ask the landowner for permission. However, before doing this, the property needs to be around forty acres for twenty to forty members to hunt on. Also, you will need to actually go to the site and visually check it out to see if one could actually hunt on it. That is, is the grass short enough, is it inundated with cattle, does it have parking nearby for several cars, and any other obstacles that you feel will hinder hunting. If you do talk to the landowner introduce yourself and be courteous and tell him that you belong to a metal detecting group and that you are looking for a place to hunt for relics etc. for around twenty to forty people. Be sure to mention that we do cover up the holes that we dig and we will treat his property with respect. We will leave the property as we found it. Even if you just have a family member or friend close to an area of interest, they may know the landowner. And that could make for a good local introduction to the landowner if they are on friendly terms. If you know of a site that you think has some historical significance (civil war, oil field boomtown, ghost town, etc.) and need help obtaining the property owners name and location or need help with research on a site to determine its history, let an officer or board member know about the site. For research purposes a geographical location is needed. It can be quarter section-section-township-range (i.e. -NW ¼ Section 20 T29N R10W), latitudelongitude, EMS address (these are geo referenced), or just mark the location on a map (topographic map or road map).
