PROVINCIAL REPORT RICK & IRENE EVANS We wish a huge thank you to both John Watts & Larry Hornsey for arranging the BC 500 this year. The response was a little disappointing with only 10 riders participating. I would suspect that the wet Spring was a big influence on riders making a decision to ride. The 10 that did participate indicated they thoroughly enjoyed the event, which ended in Langford, a suburb north of Victoria. All were surprised, pleasantly, of Sunday morning's breakfast announcement that they were catching the 10:40 a.m. ferry out of Horseshoe Bay heading to Nanaimo! Weather was ideal for the ride with the exception of cool, well okay cold, wet weather between Lillooet and Pemberton. They travelled a total of 506 miles, with the bulk of it covered in the first day which saw them over-nighting it in Squamish. Irene & I rode to the International in Idaho with Joe Nick. It was a fun ride although the heat was a little much at times, oh and did I mention the wind in Vantage, Washington we thought we were going to be swept away that night. The rally was well attended with over 174 registered and 205 attending. The Idaho group put on a good rally with lots of organized rides. Due to the heat we only did short rides around and saw a lot of the area that we had not seen before. We liked the area a lot and will return, as there is lots more to see. The 3 of us headed north on the Friday and decided to just overnight it one night in Coulee City. They have a nice community campground on the Lake. The attendant suggested to us that we should find a spot soon and get set up as it looked like a storm was brewing. Well he was right; it huffed & puffed and almost blew our tents down. In hindsight I think we should have just taken a Motel. We had to lower our poles down in the tent trailer so that they would stop bending so much, we were concerned that they would break. Once again we made it through another wind storm. On our way home from Dawson Creek in mid-august Irene and I met up with the Prince George group of UMCI for breakfast. Their list of members is getting shorter every year like a lot of our groups, but there was 10 of us there enjoying each other s company. On our way to Smithers we over-nighted it at Richard & Jeannett Brophy s in Fraser Lake. Thank you very much for your hospitality we wish we could have stayed longer but maybe next time.

3 PLACES I HAVE BEEN I have been in many places, but I have never been in Cahoots. Apparently you can't go there alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport. You have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my family, friends and those where I have worked. I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump and I am not too much on physical activity anymore. I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go and I try not to visit there too often. I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm. Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often... as I'm getting older. One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense. It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart. At my age I need all of the stimuli I can get. Now if I can just avoid getting in Continent.
