2 President s Message This being my first Presidential Message to the Corvette Club of Rhode Island, I am sitting at my desk with our new Secretary, Mary Bonner, whom I have asked to assist me because with emotions so high at the moment of writing this message, I want to be sure, that I don t miss the significance of it during the Club s time of grief. Our Club suffered the shock of hearing that a long time Member, Eddy Imondi, our Sergeant of Arms suddenly passed away in Maine on Saturday, January 14, The news flash of this devastating loss affected each and every one of us, but more importantly to those closest to him. We all felt Eddy s infectious smiles, hugs, laughter and that comic sense of humor at every meeting and social. The stories I was honored to hear of his lifestyle and his compassion to assist anyone, at any time of day, made me personally proud to have known him, even for such a short period of time. I feel that the only way we can honor Eddy s memory in this Club is to continue with honoring the type of MAN he was. He was Humble, Kind, Generous, Fun Loving, and a Decent Human Being. I know I don t speak for just myself, when saying that his presence will always be in that meeting hall with all the wonderful Members of this Club that make up the Corvette Club of Rhode Island. To Pompea and to the entire family, including his children, grandchildren and his father Eddy Imondi, Sr., it is with heartfelt compassion and sympathy that we as a Corvette Family wish them nothing but love, support, comfort and wonderful memories of the MAN, Eddy Imondi. I hope that we can heal our souls with his memories, and continue with the comradery that he so loved being a part of. I can only end this message by saying that you, the Members are all in my Prayers, and I wish us all peace, and comfort as we heal from this great loss. I have been thinking of my tag line, on my salutations. Those that know me know that I believe in Angels. So it s only fitting that my salutation be as follows. God Bless Eddy Imondi and his family, and God Bless the Corvette Club of Rhode Island. ANGELS ON WHEELS, LILIANA V. DOLAN PRESIDENT Page 2 2

6 Tribute to Ed Imondi It was a sad day when I realized that Ed had passed. Those of us who knew him felt a different energy when Ed was in the room. I guess you could say that Ed was all about life s energy. During our meetings you could see him moving about the room passing out and collecting flyers, always on the move. During the summer months he would organize a river raft weekend, and those of us who joined him had to hold on for dear life; however, Ed was all smiles as he cascaded through the rapids. He enjoyed the excitement that life had to offer and shared that life with his fellow club members. Those who participated in the event talked about the good times and the bonding that occurred during the adventure. His close friend, Ernie Nasteri, knew him since they were 14 years old. Lifelong friends, they enjoyed many great times together. Snowmobiling was a favorite pastime for both of them. Peter DiBoniventura was another longtime friend who also shared time on the trail with him. You couldn t just shake his hand, you also got a warm hug. He had a remarkable spirit that he openly shared with others. Our club will feel his absence, and miss his energy and happy spirit at our socials. On behalf of the club, rest in peace my friend. 11 Salem Cross Inn A dedication to an old friend. Sharing stories of good times with Eddy. 11 Page 11
12 Salem Cross Inn Thank you to Rosemary, Jim and Liliana for coordinating a fabulous weekend away to the Salem Cross Inn for the Fireside Feast. Members brought so much food for the Inn, and our celebration of Life for our lost CCRI brother, Eddie Imondi, Jr. It was a horrific week with emotions, loss and despair from the news of the accident that took the life of our Sergeant at Arms and longtime friend. Thank you to Peter DiBonaventura and Ernie Nastari for the moment of silence, the wonderful stories of the white water rafting trips and snowmobiling adventures that made us feel like Eddie was in the room with us. The beautiful picture that Ernie put together and took with him to the Restaurant was just another reminder, that this is so much more than your average car club. CCRI IS FAMILY. Please enjoy some of the pictures that were taken at this event. The care takers of the Sturbridge Inn, the Reed Family, Brian the events coordinator, and the entire staff at the Sturbridge Inn could not have been more accommodating to us all. The shuttles back and forth to the Salem Cross Inn were invaluable on that foggy night, making sure we all arrived back and forth to the Inn safely. The Food was delicious at the Salem Cross, and boy that Whip Cream was more like Ice Cream. Enjoy the pictures. Thanks Jim & Roe for setting up this great event. Checking in at the lodge The party begins at the Lodge 12 Page 12
