2 Words from our President Hi Members, Held off writing this letter until the first day of spring, needed some inspiration but look, it s snowing AGAIN! I m sure we all have stories to exchange about events we ve endured over this past winter. I m sure we re all looking forward to the day where we can hang up the shovel and stop running to the store for more ice melt. The winter of 2015 just doesn t want to let go of us!! Inspiration was definitely the theme at March s Activities Committee Meeting. There was so much energy in the room. We had more ideas than we had dates to fill, not a bad problem to have. I can t divulge any event info at this time;; I ll leave that up to Sheryl and Maria. Stay tuned, you don t want to miss the most exciting CCRI summer yet! Staying with this inspiration theme, I m inspirited by Liliana our new publicity director. Her ideas for getting CCRI more involved in the community are refreshing. We ve always talked about this topic in the past but have fallen short of our goals. Liliana talked briefly at last month s meeting about our show tie-in with RI Food Bank. This food drive will shine yet another light on this great club of ours. We are all well aware of the good work CCRI does for local charities each year. As New Englanders, we commonly don t take to new concepts very well so please embrace our new direction. This community effort may work as a membership drive as well. There are a lot of Corvette owners (independents) that aren t in a car club. We need others to see what belonging to Corvette Club of Rhode Island is all about. Look forward to seeing you at the April meeting! Drive it like you stole it Keith Mutter President Corvette Club of RI kkmutter@cox.net Page 2 Page 2

7 Membership & Editors Message Membership Application can be found in this newsletter or contact our Membership Director: Dennis Langlois at Editors Message As I write this I see snow on the ground, the temperature is just above freezing and the heat is cranked up;; however, I know Spring will eventually get here... it s is time to take our cars out of hibernation. It s time to have some fun and start caravanning once again. Caravanning, oh ya it s been a while, a brief refresher just in case: The best tool is a two way radio or cell phone so you can communicate with the lead car or the caboose. Share phone numbers or set the radio freq. before you leave. You are responsible for the car behind you - it they stop you stop (at a safe location). If we follow this rule the lead car will also stop and wait for cars to catch up. Take pictures, save the wave, and enjoy the trip! Your Editor Looking Forward to a great Season, Tony Montalbano Page 7 Page 7

12 Club Events FAMILIES MAKE DIFFICULT CHOICES According to statistics and the annual report by the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, studies have found that most people receiving food assistance in Rhode Island were living in poverty and had to choose between paying for food and paying for other essentials. DID YOU KNOW THAT OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR: 70% had to choose between paying for utilities or buying food. 68% had to choose between paying for medicine or buying food. 67% had to choose between paying for transportation or buying food. 62% had to choose between paying for housing or buying food. With the help of our generous members of The Corvette Club of Rhode Island, YOU can be a crucial part of DRIVING OUT HUNGER here in Rhode Island. Our Goal is to raise 2000 pounds or more of non-perishable food items and then on Thursday, July 23, 2015, we will organize a DRIVE IN with any members that are interested to the Rhode Island Food Bank. We would meet at Express Employment, pack our cars and roll into the Rhode Island Food Bank and deliver as much food as our cars can handle. Don t let this food drive be limited to just your food closet. Reach out to your family, friends, businesses associates and companies in your area. If you need boxes, please again;; contact Liliana.Dolan@expresspros.com today for more information and on how you can help DRIVE OUT HUNGER and have that great feeling that we as members did our small part for our community.
