This is the first time at the Chattanoogan, it is a luxury hotel and the prices will increase. For the first time we have to guarantee a certain number of room nights. Those that attended the meeting with the Chattanoogan representative felt if we meet our previous show numbers then we will meet the goal. We need everyone's help in meeting our numbers for food and rooms. Remember this is a luxury hotel with a lot of amenities. So come out an enjoy the C weekend. SBCC activities are beginning to heat up as the weather heats up. The British Fools Bash on the 31st of March will be a great day of fun as we see our friends from the different clubs. It is always fun to look at all the British cars. Drive your car and you can get someone to tell you what the problem with it is. I have a problem with my Alpine's convertible top. It basically does not fit, and I have gaps between the windows and the top. It leaks a lot when it rains! One day I drove the Alpine to lunch. Dave Terhune and Gary Keller were looking at the car and immediately said the top has shrunk. The previous owner must not have put the top up for years so it shrunk big time. Everyone who leaves their top down for weeks or months, then tries to put it up and fasten it down understands the problem. The 2018 SBCC challenge has started. Charles showed me a picture of him or Perky, I do not remember which one, at David Crockett Birthplace. I heard Connie say something about the Challenge also. Teresa and I had gotten a few pictures before it got cold. In the next few months there are several good opportunities for pictures of European sports cars. The first opportunity is at "Spring Time in the Smokies" on Saturday, May 12 in Townsend. The other one is the European Car Show in Morristown on Saturday, June 2nd. Speaking of European cars, several will be at Chattanooga cars and coffee on Saturday, April 21st at the shopping center at the corner of HWY 153 and Hwy 11 in Chattanooga. I got three pictures there in January. I will not be there because I will be in Florida. Several members are going to Pensacola, FL for "Brits on the Bay" on Saturday, April 21. The distance to this show will cause you to leave before Saturday. I believe Charles and Perky are leaving on Wednesday evening. Gil and Marge are leaving on Thursday and driving straight through. Teresa and I are leaving on Thursday, but plan to stop somewhere around Auburn or Troy, AL. We plan to make the trip home on Sunday. Several members enjoy the plays produced at the Cumberland County Playhouse. On Sunday afternoon April 15th at 2:30PM Central time the play "Mouse Trap" by Agatha Christie will be playing. I plan to attend and hope other club members will meet me at 1PM Eastern time at the Krystal in Dayton. 2 SOUTHERN BRITISH CAR CLUB MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES March 12, 2018 SBCC Vice President Mr. Ian O Shea called the meeting to order. February meeting minutes were approved as published in the Timing Light. Treasurer s Report the funds were adjusted to an accounting error and the revised balance of $ and the report unanimously approved. Membership Report 29 paid members, please pay dues Newsletter please forward any interesting or pertinent information. New Business It was unanimously approved to not invite the Mid South Band to perform at the annual car show because of all of the uncertainties of moving to a new venue. Look for details on the website for the 2018 SBCC Challenge Plan for the British Fool s Bash on 3/31/ AM 130 PM members helping will need to arrive at 9 AM. Bring a vegetable and something to drink.
