6 FEATURED PROJECTS DREDGING Darwin Marine Supply Base Location Darwin, Northern Territory Client Northern Territory Government and Macmahon Contractors Scope Dredging the Darwin Marine Supply Base approach channel, swing basin and berth Contract value $65 million Start date August 2012 Completion date December 2013 In 2012, Hall Contracting was engaged to carry out the dredging of the Darwin Marine Supply Base approach channel, swing basin and berth. The project involved dredging nearly 700,000m 3 of siltstone to adjacent reclamation ponds. Soon after commencement of the works, it became apparent that much of the excavation included particularly hard sandstone and quartz. Hall successfully used its Eastern Aurora dredge to remove most of the sandstone and engaged the BHD Gungner, a 300t machine, to pre-rip the sandstone and quartz reef before the Eastern Aurora pumped it ashore. Despite all the obstacles, Hall succeeded in successfully completing the project for the client. DREDGING Tuvalu Borrow Pit Remediation and Coastal Protection Location Client Funafuti, Tuvalu Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade New Zealand (MFAT) Scope Dredging m3 of sand to fill 11 borrow pits and coastal protection works to fill repair a coastal breach. Contract value $8.7 million (NZD) Start date January 2015 Completion date October 2015 Hall Contracting was engaged by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade New Zealand to lift the level of 11 borrow pits and repair a 70m breach in the island that was threating separation of a proportion of the atoll. The borrow pits, created by the US Army during World War II to construct the air strip have been left with no remediation. Over time, waste has accumulated and seeped through the tidal borrow pits and into the lagoon. As a consequence this has affected the atoll s ecosystem. With Hall s fleet of specialised equipment including dredge Amity, accommodation barge, excavators, loader, dozer, trucks and skid steer the project was completed on time and within budget and has not only

7 MARINE Noosa River Spit erosion protection Location Noosa, Queensland Client Sunshine Coast Council Scope Installation of mega geotube retaining structure system and beach nourishment works Contract value $2.1 million Start date January 2012 Completion date July 2012 With the southern bank of the Noosa River Spit suffering serious erosion, Hall Contracting was contracted to undertake beach nourishment works in 2012 using sand dredged from the river. The team also dredged a footprint for a future seawall and groyne, and installed mega geotubes and a rock wall as part of the project. While the works presented a number of environmental constraints, the Hall Contracting team successfully complied with Sunshine Coast Council s stringent rules throughout the fish breeding season, as well as Environmental Protection Agency criteria and ICM s requirements for working in and around mangroves. The project was completed on schedule, in time for the summer tourist season. ENVIRONMENTAL Brightwater Estate Location Client Scope Contract value Brightwater Estate (Sunshine Coast), Queensland Stockland Translocation of native vegetation $6 million (AUD) Start date October 2007 Completion date May 2009 Hall Contracting has been the principal contractor for this large residential development on Queensland s Sunshine Coast since June As part of the project, our team successfully translocated 12.2ha of native vegetation (including rare and threatened plant species) to the University of the Sunshine Coast. Carefully selected seeds and cuttings from the site were also propagated for establishment in alternative locations. The project also required a compensatory habitat be provided for displaced fauna, including several rare and endangered species such as the acid frog and ground parrot. Our efforts on this project saw Hall Contracting named as a finalist in the prestigious Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) Earth Awards.

8 FEATURED PROJECTS URBAN DEVELOPMENT Pelican Waters Estate Location Client Scope Golden Beach (Sunshine Coast), Queensland Cardno Construction of a canal residential estate $150 million (AUD) Contract value Start date 1990 Completion date Ongoing (multi-stage project) Hall Contracting has been the principal contractor for this award winning canal residential estate since its launch in A total of 2,000 allotments have been constructed to date, with 1,500 more to be completed over the next five to 10 years. Upon completion, Pelican Waters will have a population in the vicinity of 11,000 and will be a suburb in its own right. To-date, Hall Contracting has delivered the following as part of the project: Bulk earthworks Dredging works Construction of an 18-hole Greg Norman-designed championship golf course Bridges (both prestressed concrete and timber) Lock and weir navigation structures Revetment walls Major trunk main infrastructure for sewer, water and roads All subdivisional works URBAN DEVELOPMENT North Harbour Location Client Scope Contract value Start date October 2014 Completion date Ongoing Morayfield, Queensland Northeast Business Park Pty Ltd All earthworks, roads and drainage for stages one to four of development, Buckley Road upgrade and trunk sewer installation $8 million North Harbour is a master planned community which combines a mix of business, marina and residential communities as well as facilities such as a marina village, heritage conservation park and extensive open space. While Hall Contracting was initially engaged to upgrade a primary access road and undertake bulk earthworks and civil works for the development s first four stages, the project scope was later extended to include more stages and the installation of a major sewer pump station and rising main. To date, Hall Contracting has constructed retaining walls and more than 2.5km of road (including a dual carriageway), carried out bulk earthworks, and installed drainage and sewer infrastructure as part of the project. With the site located adjacent to an environmentally sensitive fish habitat, extra care has been taken to ensure the local environment is protected throughout construction.

9 INFRASTRUCTURE Rubyanna Wastewater Treatment Plant sewer rising and outfall mains Location Client Bundaberg, Queensland Bundaberg Regional Council Scope Installation of over 9km of sewer gravity and pressure mains ranging from 150mm-1,200mm Contract value $7.5 million Start date January 2015 Completion date August 2015 Following a competitive tender process, Hall Contracting was awarded the first stage of construction of the Rubyanna Wastewater Treatment Plant inlet and outfall sewer main project. Both pipelines were constructed in tandem to meet the client s specified completion date. The project scope included the installation of: 5.4 kilometres of 600mm diameter sewer pressure pipeline; 2.7 kilometres of 1,200mm diameter sewer outlet pipeline; 5.4 kilometres of 63mm diameter communication conduit; 1.04 kilometres of 150mm diameter sewer pressure main and water main; and two major cane railway crossings and three crossings over active waterways. INFRASTRUCTURE Brisbane Airport New Parallel Runway Location Client Scope Brisbane Airport, Queensland Brisbane Airport Corporation Construction of critical dredge pipeline corridor $16.8 million (AUD) Contract value Start date November 2013 Completion date February 2015 In 2013, Hall Contracting was appointed to construct a dredge pipeline corridor for this $1.3 billion project. The project also included the design and construction of a 4km long, 11m wide access track, as well as associated perimeter road diversions and ramp overs. As the dredge pipeline corridor path was to pass through an existing waste water treatment plant and the operational international airport, Hall Contracting was required to install a 4km long, 1,000mm diameter steel pipeline as well as a 6m high, 40m-long pipe bridge over an existing outfall structure. The complex project also required installing 270m of welded pipe under the live runway. In successfully completing this project, our team demonstrated its ability to work in a highly regulated environment and in such a way that the works did not impact on the operations of the fully functional airport.
