1 Good Neighbor Club Newsletter October November December 2018 Betty Marthaler, Good Neighbor Club Director Dear Good Neighbor Club Members, As I begin this letter my hopes are that you have been able to enjoy our past summer months and that you also have had the opportunity to enjoy some of the activities that we have had planned for you. We just returned from Door County where we had exceptional weather and a well informed guide to guide us through that beautiful area plus enjoying the wonder of Washington Island. As you are reading this letter, we have a large group enjoying our Rhine and Mosel River Cruise. We are experiencing this trip along with 5 other bank clubs so the entire river boat of 160 travelers will all be bank club members. As you read through the newsletter, I trust that you will find some interest in one or more of our upcoming activities that we have planned. The Good Neighbor Club Christmas Party/25 Year GNC Anniversary Tuesday, December 18th Doors will open at 11 and lunch will be served at Noon American Legion Spicer, MN It is hard to believe, but we have had our Good Neighbor Club for 25 years and to Thank You for your past and continued support of the GNC and Lake Region Bank, you are invited to a FREE turkey dinner with all the trimmings! Music for your listening and dancing entertainment will be provided by the Bob Whitney Band. I do need to ask you stop at one of our three bank locations to pick up tickets as we will need an exact count for the noon meal. Space will be limited. Again, THANK YOU for the past 25 years! Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation. He quickly discovers life isn t the same without a bit of a song and dance. Jim s luck takes a spectacular turn when he meets Linda, a spirited schoolteacher with talent to spare. Together they turn the farmhouse into a fabulous inn with dazzling performances to celebrate each holiday from Thanksgiving to the Fourth of July. But when Jim s best friend Ted tries to lure Linda away to be his new dance partner in Hollywood, will Jim be able to salvage his latest chance at love? This year presenting, An all new Christmas Show, with new music, new jokes, but the same world class talent that you have come to expect! This year, the Ozark Jubilee will be honoring and paying tribute to our Veterans, and thanking them for their special service. The entire second half of our show is a total variety of Christmas music. From traditional standards you ll remember such as Silent Night, White Christmas, and many more, to some more contemporary Christmas selections. We will share with you the TRUE meaning of Christmas with music, comedy, and a message to provide an afternoon of entertainment that will touch your heart. Our lunch will be at the 400 Club, which many of you know is now run by Mike and Mar Dol s who formally ran the Blue Heron at Willmar s Eagle Creek Golf Course. 3 Lend Me a Tenor Old Log Theatre 1:30 PM Production Wednesday, November 28th Lend Me a Tenor is set in September Saunders, the general manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, is primed to welcome world-famous Tito Morelli, known as Il Stupendo, the greatest tenor of his generation, to appear for one night only as Otello. The star arrives late, and through a hilarious series of mishaps, is given a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out. His pulse is so low that Saunders and his assistant Max believe he s dead. In a frantic attempt to salvage the evening, Saunders persuades Max to get into Morelli s Otello costume and fool the audience into thinking he s Il Stupendo. Max succeeds admirably, but Morelli comes to and gets into his other costume, ready to perform. Now two Otellos are running around in costume and two women are running around in lingerie, each thinking she is with Il Stupendo. A sensation on Broadway and in London s West End, this madcap, screwball comedy is guaranteed to leave audiences teary-eyed with laughter. We will be collecting toys and/or money so that we can purchase and donate about 100 presents to the Food Shelf. Clark Vollan, our bank president, has once again offered to match all donations. We will be doing this in connection with the employees of Lake Region Bank. All help is appreciated and coffee and Christmas treats will be provided. Christmas Open House Friday, December 7th To show our appreciation for your past and continued business, please stop in during regular business hours for coffee and homemade treats at each of our 3 locations. At the Willmar Branch, we will be entertained with Christmas songs on the piano by Sally Brown. Christmas Centerpiece Day Thursday, December 20th 2:00pm Good Neighbor Club Room Once again Gwen from Late Bloomers will be here to demonstrate flower arrangements for the Holiday. All supplies will be provided! Please just bring yourself and a little creativity you ll leave with a beautiful centerpiece to enjoy over the Holidays! Our tour will be highlighted by an inside visit to Guadi s famous Sagrada Familia Church. After boarding our ship, we will sail to Morocco, The Canary Islands, Portugal, plus enjoy the cities of Malaga and Alicante, Spain and disembark in Barcelona for our return flight home.
