1 Southland 2017 Heritage Month

2 Welcome This we celebrate Southland s third Heritage Month and it is exciting to see the range of great events and activities on offer. There is something for all interests and age groups right across the region, from bus trips and evening talks, to guided walks, festivals and open days. At Heritage South we feel very privileged to be able to assist the Southland heritage community by promoting these great attractions and events, and helping Southlanders to celebrate their heritage. Our heritage may not be very old, but it is part of our identity, and something to be proud of. It is only through celebrating and engaging with our heritage that we can ensure it will live on for future generations. We are very grateful to all our sponsors who have made Heritage Month possible, and thank all the people who are organising events. We hope everyone makes the most of this opportunity to enjoy and celebrate our heritage. Maybe it will also inspire more people to take the time to visit and enjoy our diverse heritage throughout the year, or even get more involved in local heritage groups. HERITAGE MONTH LAUNCH The launch of Heritage Month will take place as part of the launch of the website Since Writing You Last. When? Wednesday 6pm, 1st Where? The locomotive will be available for public display to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Invercargill / Bluff Railway Line on 5th February.
