1 Edmonton and Area Métis Week Events Monday, November 13: Alberta Métis Week Events November 13 to 18, 2017 Seventh Annual Louis Riel Commemorative Walk In honour of Louis Riel, the 6.6 km walk to St. Margaret s Church signifies the procession made by Riel s family, community and Métis soldiers to Riel s funeral. The Walk begins at 10:00 am followed by a commemorative service at St. Margaret s Church, located at Range Road 203, Sherwood Park. Lunch will be at the Deville-North Cooking Lake Hall, Wye Road, Sherwood Park. For more information, call or toll-free at Tuesday, November 14: Métis Urban Housing Corporation (MUHC) Open House Join the MUHC Open House to learn about the various programs and services they provide for the community. Time/location: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at A Street in Edmonton. For more information, please contact Veterans and Seniors Tea All Métis Veterans and Seniors are welcomed to enjoy an afternoon of tea, coffee and light snacks. For more information, call or toll-free at Wednesday, November 15: Métis Week 2017 Proclamation and Métis flag Raising Ceremony The MNA and the City of Edmonton will host a proclamation and Métis flag raising ceremony in honour of Métis Week. Time/location: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at City Hall, 1 Sir Winston Churchill Square in Edmonton. A light lunch and entertainment will follow the ceremony. For more information, please contact or toll-free at Special Presentation: Hiding in Plain Sight: Discovering the Métis Nation A collaboration between the Edmonton Public Library, Archives Canada, the University of Alberta and the Métis Nation of Alberta in a showcase presentation of Métis history in Canada. High Level Bridge Lighting Edmonton s High Level Bridge will be lit in white and blue after sunset to represent Métis colours and to celebrate Métis Week. Friday, November 17: Métis Health & Wellness Pop Up Clinics (Continued from November 16 th ) A range of free health services will be on location for citizen access and use. Time/location: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, MNA Provincial Office, Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton. Also cast your vote in the MNA Youth Art Contest Métis Week Gala: Celebrating 35 Years of Métis Urban Housing Corporation (MUHC) Join MUHC and the MNA for an evening of entertainment, dinner and celebrating the Métis community.
