2 NEW JOBS & TRAINING The regeneration process is creating 22,000 construction jobs, including apprenticeships, traineeships, starter roles and graduate roles - Wandsworth residents get priority for many of these vacancies. A further 25,000 permanent jobs are being created as new employment space is built. Opportunities include retail, office, catering, hospitality, leisure, creative and many other industries. Wandsworth Council has ensured local people have priority for many new jobs created in Nine Elms. The Work Match local recruitment team is dedicated to helping local people find a job or training role. They have helped over 300 unemployed people find a career so far. 4 NEW HOMES We are building a total of around 20,000 new homes here in Nine Elms. Around 4,000 will be affordable homes for local people on lower incomes; the first 600 of which are now being built. Some will be available to rent at prices well below the market rate; others will be available to buy through shared ownership. 116 affordable units at Riverlight will be available from next autumn; 60 affordable homes are currently being built at Battersea Exchange, available for low cost rent and sale; likewise the 374 affordable homes which have just been secured on Sleaford Street, as part of the Battersea Power Station redevelopment. Wandsworth Council is building new council homes on the Patmore and Savona Estates. 6 NEW COMMUNITY FACILITIES Two new primary schools are being built and St Mary s is being fully redeveloped and upgraded. New and improved health facilities are being provided throughout Nine Elms, including a new health clinic on Sleaford Street providing a range of services. Brand new arts and cultural spaces are being created, including galleries, community centres and event spaces which are all open to the public. New cinemas are planned at Battersea Power Station and Vauxhall Square. New public playgrounds, parks and football pitches are being created. A new open air market is planned as part of the redevelopment of New Covent Garden Market.

8 NEW PUBLIC SPACE New public open space is being created throughout the area, mainly from previously inaccessible private land. A 12 acre linear park will link Vauxhall to Battersea Power Station. Work has begun on the first segment which will be completed by March There will be a network of new routes, pocket parks, play areas, public squares, footpaths, cycle lanes and outdoor recreation spaces. New stretches of the Thames River Path are opening to the public for the first time. The latest stretch opened last autumn by Riverlight. A consultation on options for improving Thessaly Road is soon to be launched.

10 BETTER TRANSPORT The Tube is coming to Battersea, with one new Northern line station at Battersea Power Station and a second near Sainsbury s on Wandsworth Road. They will open by New and more frequent bus routes are to be introduced; extra buses on routes 44 and 137 are already in place. Upgrades to existing train stations are in the pipeline, including Battersea Park (due to start next year), Queenstown Road and Vauxhall (currently on-going). A new pedestrian and cycle network is being created, opening up safer and more direct routes through the area and beyond. A proposed new pedestrian and cycle bridge across the Thames will link Battersea to Pimlico. TfL is about to launch a new round of public consultation on improvements to the road network at Vauxhall Cross. Plans to reopen the Stewarts Road underpass are being developed, creating a new route to the power station below Battersea Park Road.

12 NINE ELMS ON THE SOUTH BANK There are 16 developments already under construction, 9 in Wandsworth and 7 in Lambeth. The area includes nearly 3km of the Thames riverside, with plans being developed for a new bridge crossing. There will be a new town centre at Battersea Power Station and an improved town centre at Vauxhall. 22,000 workers are involved in construction. A further 25,000 new jobs are being created in phases, as each new employment space is built. Around 4,000 affordable homes are being built, including social rent and shared ownership.
