Introduce agenda 2

We took over management, operations and development of YYC (1992) and YBW (1997) under long-term lease from the Government of Canada. We have 80-year lease, which runs to We are a not-for-profit non-share capital organization. We receive no funding from any level of government to manage or develop these facilities, in fact, we send millions of dollars in rent to the government of Canada each year. Any surpluses of revenue are reinvested back into the airport. We operate under the Regional Airport Authorities Act of Alberta, to: Manage and operate the airports for which we are responsible for in a safe, secure and efficient manner Advance economic and community development by means that include promoting and encouraging improved airline and transportation service and an expanded aviation industry 3

For the general benefit of the public in our region. 3

Airport officially re-named as YYC Calgary International Airport in Here s a look at the airport facilities today: We have more than doubled in size with 3 million square feet of terminal space 58 gates (total of 72 aircraft boarding positions including ground loading 11,000 parking stalls (surface lots, P1 and P2) 4

YYC is a key hub, connecting travellers and businesses to the world. With 80 non-stop destinations, YYC is one of the best connected airports in terms of air access in Canada. Several great new destinations were added, or announced, in 2016 more on that in a minute 5

6

We have three sources of revenue: commercial, aeronautical and the AIF (which is 100 per cent for new infrastructure). We continue to balance those sources of revenue, with a focus on enhancing commercial sources in order to keep aeronautical fees among the lowest in the country. 7

8

A significant amount of money has been paid in rent to the Federal Government to manage the airport facilities. Totaling $560 million since And despite that stream of money coming in from airports across Canada, they are currently deliberating on the idea of selling airports to private for-profit firms. It s something I ll speak more about a bit later. 9

Last year we continued to invest significantly into YYC, with of course, the majority of capital focused on our major expansion 10

We ve invested $4 billion into YYC since we took on the management and development of the airport. That investment has ensured Calgary s airport has the infrastructure it needed to grow airlines and cargo services, driving the economy in our city and region. And we will continue to invest in YYC. Our capital investment budget for 2017 is $152 million. Key projects: - DTB construction (baggage integration, DTB check-in, concourse B, YYC LINK corridor, telecom/it) 11

12

Despite a challenging year 15.7 million passengers- another record up 1.3 per cent YYC has grown significantly and has become a hub for WestJet and Air Canada 13

YYC remains the most-connected airport in Canada. 14

There were several great new destinations added, or announced in 2016 WestJet introduced its first trans-atlantic service adding London, Gatwick to its network of destinations, added seasonal service to Thunder Bay, and announced late last year it would add Mesa, Arizona to its routes a service that began earlier this year. Air Canada, added seasonal service to San Francisco and expanded service using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its flights to London-Heathrow, Frankfurt and Tokyo-Narita routes 15

We also welcomed Alberta s first, and only, passenger service to China - Hainan Airlines connecting Calgary to Beijing. Late in 2016, non-stop service from Aeromexico between Calgary and Mexico City was announced. Year-round service will provide access through Mexico City to the major business markets in Central and South America. First flight is on June 1 this year. Other, seasonal, air service announcements included: Edelweiss - Zurich Sunwing Cuba and Costa Rica Korean Air/Hanjin Travel Incheon, Korea NewLeaf Hamilton and Abbotsford I d like to thank all of our airline partners and congratulate them on their successful growth. 16

YYC continues to be Alberta s air cargo gateway moving 75 per cent of all air cargo in Alberta and playing a key role in driving the cargo and logistics sector in the region thanks to the access to key markets provided by our cargo airline network, which includes direct cargo flights to both Europe and Asia. 17

There was continued growth in cargo and logistics at YYC in 2016 as well. Cargo volumes were up 1.7 percent to 137,255 metric tonnes 2016 cargo highlights included: Adding 100,000 square foot specialized cargo facility with direct access to our dedicated cargo apron (Apron 9) DHL Express Canada tripled the size of its operations at YYC, taking space in that new specialized cargo facility Cargojet and FedEx both expanded services by up gauging aircraft and by adding frequencies Cargolux celebrated 15 years of operations at YYC 18

Springbank Airport, YBW the finest, and one of the busiest general aviation airports in the country 3.6% growth in aircraft movements in totaled just under 157,000 $38 million invested in YBW since 1997 ($0 invested in 2016) YBW hosted several training events conducted by the Calgary Police Service and other law enforcement agencies to give their people the opportunity to train in the unique airport environment 19

The ITB aligned with our vision to help ensure YYC remains a significant connecting hub airport. The new terminal construction was driven by the continued growth and limited capacity at YYC, both in the terminal and on the airfield. Opened successfully on October 31 of last year. The largest development in the airport s history A $1.6 billion dollar terminal facility Represents an exciting new era for air travel in Calgary introducing some of the most technologically and operationally-advanced airport systems in the country, and North America s first call-to-gate system. Extensive network of automated systems to support check-in and bag drop as well as new security screening, with CATSA-Plus and customs screening technologies which improve flow through those areas. 20

Almost 12 million construction hours to complete, created 2,000 jobs for the city 24 additional gates New Marriott In-terminal Airport Hotel -318-rooms 50 more retail outlets Positions YYC to meet growth for decades 21

We did a lot of work to make sure we were ready to open Onsite training, e-learning, tours, etc. Around 2,000 people participated in the public trails We opened a few days early with a soft launch so that we could welcome a few flights using live data and bringing passengers and planes through the new terminal. The soft launch went incredibly well and our airline partners were happy to be among the first to test out of the new facility. 22

Operationally we were ready (highlights noted above) 23

While the terminal opened well overall we have been monitoring and responding to feedback we ve received since opening day Some of the new terminal services our passengers were concerned about are services provided by other agencies. For example, services such as security screening and baggage delivery are not controlled by the Authority but we receive the concerns from passengers. Passengers were faced with a much larger terminal with longer walks Call-to-Gate new to YYC and North America with limited seating planned at the gates And the importance of water fountains in the terminal was greatly underestimated 24

We added 270 seats We ve added new signage and are continuously reviewing wayfinding and signs We added water filling stations, but we have additional water fountains on the way We also continue to work with our airline partners and customer care teams to find efficiencies in our processes to better align network schedules with airport transportation systems. Regarding our partner airlines: We are aware that our partner s planes are mobile and their costs and connectivity at our airport needs to be our focus. YYC is a place for our airline partners to grow, we will continue to work closely with them to keep their costs down and to find improvements and efficiencies in their YYC operations. They are an important part of YYC s growth and 25

development plans, which are driven by their business strategies. 25

Despite an already busy year opening the terminal a lot more happened in

There were other infrastructure projects undertaken in 2016 as well: We expanded our cell phone wait lot, in October of last year, doubling the size of this space (to 141 stalls) To support employee access to the International Terminal, we constructed a 1600-stall parking lot for employees near the ITB (north and east of P2), which opened ahead of the ITB to support training access for those taking on roles in the new terminal. The Ground Storage Equipment building is a 50,000 square foot building near the new International Terminal Building that is now being used by a number of tenants to store the various pieces of equipment aircraft tugs, etc. which they use to deliver their services in support of airline and airport operations. New de-icing areas were added at YYC with a new, south, glycol (de-icing fluid) treatment facility opening. The new facilities capture, treat and recycle glycol used at YYC. 27

In September, the Calgary Glycol Facility Corporation took over management of glycol (de-icing fluid) facilities at YYC. Implementation of a new Power Control System was successfully completed in This project further increased YYC s electrical system reliability and will minimize interruptions when utility outages occur. Additionally, system changes were completed in 2016 to allow for the installation of two high speed Static Transfer Switches (STS) in early 2017, which will ensure further reliability to the YYC electrical system. 27

On the commercial industrial side: As previously-mentioned, we opened our new 100,000 dedicated cargo facility now occupied in part by DHL Express Canada Opened the 318-room Marriott Calgary Airport In-terminal Hotel Broke ground on the Westin Calgary airport 250 rooms plus convention capacity: opening in late The hotel will feature 30,000 square feet of meeting space. 28

The Authority is focused on sustainability and incorporates that philosophy into our operations and construction activities at YYC. 29

This is a subject for every airport across Canada The Airport Authority takes any concerns about aircraft operations at YYC very seriously. We always have and will continue to actively monitor flight operations, together with NAV CANADA, to ensure that aircraft are complying with noise abatement procedures. YYC believes in being a good neighbour and works hard to stay connected and investigate options for aircraft noise that impacts the communities we serve. 30

It is impossible to arrive & depart aircraft at an urban airport without some community impacts The AVPA prescribes compatible land uses within the Noise Exposure Forecast (NEF) contours surrounding YYC. The NEF contours and the AVPA were developed using current and projected aircraft fleet mix and volumes, and are considered permanent. The AVPA is an important tool that is protected in legislation, and guides the development of residential homes away from significant aircraft activity. The fundamental premise supporting the creation of the AVPA regulation is that aircraft operations are incompatible with residential housing. This premise is as true today as it was in 1979 and it will continue to be true into the future. YYC is projected to continue to grow to more than 19 million passengers in the next decade. It is critical that, as YYC continues to grow, the operational life of the facility continues to be protected through the AVPA. 31

We manage noise through a number of tools: Listed above One of the most effective is our Airport Community Consultative Committee (ACCC) 32

Through the ACCC: Response to noise impacts from aircraft operations is a collaborative effort involving: Transport Canada, NAV CANADA, Air Carriers, the Authority and the community via Airport Community Consultative Committee (ACCC) at YYC Having everyone at the table allows for all ideas to be discussed with community representation and technical experts they work together to look at all the options. 33

In 2016 there were some great initiatives that were generated from the Airport Community Consultative Committee (ACCC) - Required Navigation Performance approaches: consultation and implementation in May 2016 We also conducted a number of studies: - Downwind Leg Noise Monitoring Study analyzing aircraft noise along the flight path for arriving and departing aircraft in areas further away from YYC - 17L Departure Noise Monitoring Study analyzing aircraft noise off 17L departures - Both studies are available on our website A review of our Noise Monitoring Terminals (NMT) YYC added terminals in 34

Rundle and Marlborough in 2016 Introduction of PublicVue - allowing the public to view current flight activity at YYC and select live-time flights to submit concerns or ask questions 34

The noise stats for 2016 we have seen a 39% decrease in concerns However, like most airports in North America, we continue to see high volumes of calls from a small group of people. Our top two callers : called over 2800 times which is 46% of all our concerns The next highest number: 6 callers make up the next 20% of calls, submitting over 1370 concerns So approximately 8 people make up 66% of all our concerns 35

36

Community investment, from the Authority, it s employees and Team YYC in 2016 was over $366,000. This figure includes: $112,000 donation to the Calgary Food bank $40,000 collected for Alberta Red Cross Fort McMurray wildfire campaign $16,000 raised for Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation as part of the Big Bike Challenge (part of Calgary Corporate Challenge - largest contribution of companies participating in Big Bike) 37

Also Partnered with: Mustard Seed Dreams Take Flight United Way Plane Pull Camp Horizon Parks Explorer bike Secret Santa for Seniors Pictured (Jordan Morris) 38

Autism Program: YYC Navigators 2 nd year: program is designed to ease travel for those with a family member with Autism spectrum disorder Dog comfort program: Pre-Board Pals 2 nd year (officially launched last year). Pals are at YYC three days a week Participation in a variety of community events through the year 39

Two milestones for YYC s White Hat Volunteer program: 25 th anniversary of the program 1,000,000 total volunteer hours reached: Dec. 26,

New Ambassador program added: Curbside ambassadors greet guests at the curb Customer Care Ambassadors inside the terminal 41

The opening of the ITB, and the other successes achieved in 2016, are due to the hard work of the members of the YYC Crew. This talented and dedicated group helped us get to, through, and beyond the successful opening day of the ITB and are just as focused now on the continued success of the expanded YYC. I d like to express my appreciation for the efforts of this group. We were named a Top Employer again in Alberta in 2016 COR workplace safety audit 97% - The Authority engages a third-party safety audit team to review and report on safety practices and processes annually. YYC received a 97% rating on its health and safety program, which demonstrated that Authority staff have integrated safety procedures and practices into the work they perform on a daily basis. 42

2017 marks an anniversary year for The Calgary Airport Authority: YYC - 25 years since it began operating, maintaining and developing the airport (1992) Springbank Airport in years ago 43

Continue to be an aviation hub of choice - Excellent connectivity to important business and leisure destinations. Continued role in support of economic growth and diversification - Supporting 48,000 jobs in the region - GDP contribution of $8.28 Billion - Gateway to the region for visitors from around the world and goods and services into Calgary and out to global markets 44

Our capital investment budget for 2017 is $152 million. Key projects: - DTB construction (baggage integration, DTB check-in, concourse B, YYC LINK corridor, telecom/it systems & infrastructure) 45

Emerson remarks: Canadian airports are world-class. We have some of the best aviation infrastructure in the world, not to mention some of the most efficiently run airports. A sell-off of Canada s airports to private, for-profit investors will increase travel costs for passengers, remove local voices from airport boards, and undermine Canada s economic competitiveness. It s a file that we continue to work with our City and regional partners on, and we will continue to work together to keep YYC a community-focused airport, that provides great air access to the world.
