3 Annex C: Hotel Reservation Form 1. PURPOSE In 2011, APEC Leaders declaration known as The Honolulu Declaration stated the APEC members are committed to advancing our shared green growth objectives. The issue between the region s economic and environmental impacts by speeding the transition toward a global low-carbon economy must be addressed positively. In addition, with the globalization, climate change, energy and resource shortages, changes in the population structure, and the treacherous market, it is critical to find a way to strike the right balance among society, economics, and environment in the world. Meanwhile, the textile industry is one of the biggest sources of greenhouse gases on Earth. Large multinational retail companies, such as Patagonia, Nike, adidas, Continental Clothing, have been encouraged by international organizations to undertake environmental responsibility by working together with their upstream suppliers for carbon disclosure implementation. The APEC textile manufacturer faces the problem of meeting the carbon disclosure requirement, in particular how to overcome the lack of knowledge on creating a low-carbon materials processing procedure. Introduction of low-carbon manufacturing is vital to enhance the textile manufacturer's ability to incorporate green operations into their manufacturing process and to reduce technical barriers to trade. The International Workshop on Low Carbon Intelligent Operations for Textile Industry, which is funded by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and is organized by the Taiwan Textile Research Institute, introduces low-carbon manufacturing in order to enhance the textile manufacturer's ability to meet carbon disclosure requirements and reduce technical barriers to trade. This workshop shares the experience and lessons gained from a case study from textile companies to earn PAS 2050 certifications in Chinese Taipei, to conduct interactive discussions with the invited speakers toward the future of carbon disclosure and reduction management, and to attain innovative low-carbon solutions for green growth in APEC members. Participants are expected to reflect and exchange ideas from medium to high levels officials and experts with acquaintance of sustainability, carbon footprint of product (CFP) or textiles. 1
