Starting with the merger of US Airways and America West in 2005, through the mergers for Delta and Northwest in 2008, United and Continental in 2010, AirTran and Southwest in 2011, all the way to current talk about a potential US Airways/American merger, airline consolidation and its impacts on airports has been an ongoing reality U.S. airport operators. In this panel discussion, we will focus on how airport facilities and operations have been impacted by this consolidation as well as how airport operators have worked to address these impacts. This session will focus on how to establish airport pavement management programs, lessons learned by airports that have done so, and advances in non-destructive testing methods to evaluate pavement quality and remaining service life. 4 Sunday, September 9, 2012 (cont d) 10:30am 12:00pm 12:00pm 12:30pm Session 9 Airport Project Delivery Systems Summit: Navigating Capital Project Procurement & Selling to the Board (Imperial 8) Over the past 6 years, ACI-NA in collaboration with the Airport Consultants Council (ACC) and the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) has held an annual Airport Project Delivery Systems Summit. This year, the seventh annual ACI/ACC/AGC Airport Project Delivery Systems Summit will be held as part of the 2012 ACI-NA/World Conference and Exhibition. The Summit will follow the same format as prior years, focusing primarily on peer-to-peer, owner-oriented panel discussions addressing today s most pressing airport design and construction issues. This session which kicks off the summit will deal with how to make the case for project delivery approaches other than traditional design, bid, build approaches with your airport s senior leadership. Airport operators that have used non-traditional delivery methods in recent and on-going projects will be on hand to describe how they convinced their leadership that these delivery methods were right for their projects. Many of these management systems rely on common data (e.g., airport geospatial features, facility characteristics) and all have the common characteristic that they are enterprise systems, which touch multiple internal and external stakeholders. In this session, representatives from ACI-NA s Business Information Technology and Ops/Tech committees will discuss the challenges associated with implementing and maintaining these systems and how the two committees can work together to address them. ACI-NA expects that these efforts are likely to become even more heated over the next 2-3 years as a result of provisions included in this year s FAA reauthorization legislation. In this joint session with ACI-NA s Environmental Affairs Committee, a panel will discuss why airports need to be directly involved in these efforts and how they can best contribute to them.
