36 MACRO ECONOMICS FLIGHTS AS PUBLIC TRANSPORT / We have not seen growth in passenger numbers despite the huge growth in tourism. / Transportation of people mainly on roads privet cars and buses. / Only faster transportation possible with flights. / Huge growth in tourism in the past and future not using flights as public transportation within the country. / Calculating the macro effects of regional flights would become more common way of transportation: Subsidize flights as other transportation is that a viable option? Savings time road maintenance better distribution?

37 MACRO ECONOMICS FLIGHTS FOR REGIONAL CARGO / Cargo and mail with flights declining fast the last years. / Cargo mainly on roads very heavy and big trucks on narrow roads. / Smaller cargo aircraft available not in use in Iceland / Might this be and option cargo aircraft 5-8 tons for bulky cargo straight to the bigger international hubs ( Keflavik ). / Possible to subsidize would that be more feasible than building bigger roads more suitable for heavy cargo? / Transportation of fish other?
