Before joining IATA, Joseph spent close to seven years as Airport manager Canada for Austrian Airlines. Prior to that, he served as Regional Manager Sales and services and Head of Toronto and Montreal Stations for Royal Jordanian Airlines for 17 Years. During these years of service, Joseph worked very closely with the commercial and industry affairs departments of various Airlines, Regulators and Airport Authorities of Canada, Austria and Jordan. Joseph has served extensively on various Conferences and Committees during his years with the Airline industry. He was also a Member of the AOC (Airline Operating Committee) for a period of ten years. IGHC Chairman s Welcome Marsha Rivera-Ragusa, Director Contracts, Procurement Ground Operations, British Airways Marsha began her aviation career in 1975 as a manager for an airline catering company and joined British Airways in 1977, working in a variety of positions within in-flight and ground operations before joining the Procurement Department in She is currently Director Procurement responsible for the contracting of ground operation services in the North America, Mexico, Caribbean and Asia-Pacific. Marsha has been active in the IGHC and AGSA Working Groups for several years and is currently Chairman of the IGHC.
2 Welcome from IATA Jens Bjarnason, Director Operations, IATA Jens Bjarnason is Director, Operations for the Safety, Operations and Infrastructure of the International Air Transport Association. This position encompasses responsibilities for flight, technical and ground operations as well as for technical fuel. Mr. Bjarnason s previous responsibilities include his service as Director Flight Operations and Senior Vice President Technical Operations for Icelandair, the national airline of Iceland. He previously served as Director of Safety Regulation for the Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration and as an Associate Professor of Engineering at the University of Iceland. He has a PhD degree in Applied Mechanics from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, USA. 25th IGHC Anniversary Jan Steinwald, Director Business Development, Matrix Aviation Services Inc. Mr. Steinwald was born in 1953 in Munich, West Germany. He attended American schools in Munich and graduated from Munich American High School. Mr. Steinwald emigrated to the US and received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in He then joined Condor Airlines, a Lufthansa subsidiary, as a part time check-in agent. Mr. Steinwald progressed through a variety of positions and was a Station Manager in Barbados, St. Lucia, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Minneapolis. Mr. Steinwald s experience lead him to the realization that passenger handling was often an afterthought instead of a focal point. Hoping to set a new paradigm, in 1981, he founded Hilltop Aviation Services, Inc., the first exclusive passenger handling company in the United States. Hilltop, based at LAX, serviced many of the world's prominent airlines. Hilltop also provided services to budding airlines, charters, and regional carriers. It was trusted to service some extraordinary flights with prominent passengers such as Pope John Paul II and Vaclav Havel. Hilltop provided services for the NASA space shuttle support flights, and many more. Several years ago, Mr. Steinwald founded Speed Star Aviation to expand consulting services nationwide. Through Speed Star, Mr. Steinwald was instrumental in co-founding Matrix Aviation Services, Inc., where Mr. Steinwald is presently Director of Business Development. Matrix offers the same level of innovative and cutting edge services to a broad range of airlines. Mr. Steinwald divides his time between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

The Integration of the Cargo Operations Advisory Group into the Ground Operations Governance Structure David Brennan, Assistant Director, Cargo Safety and Standards, IATA David joined IATA in May 2002 as the Manager, Dangerous Goods Technical Services. In April 2004 David was appointed Assistant Director Cargo Safety & Standards. David is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Cargo team who are jointly responsible for the IATA standards publications and products that address dangerous goods transported by air. David is the Secretary of the IATA Dangerous Goods Board and is also the Panel member nominated by IATA to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Dangerous Goods Panel. Before joining IATA David worked for Australia Post as a consultant on Aviation Security / Dangerous Goods compliance. Prior to that David worked for Ansett Australia for a period of 26 years holding a number of supervisory and management positions within the Operations Division, the last being Corporate Advisor Dangerous Goods Compliance.

6 Nick Yeadon, Managing Director, Air Dispatch International Nick is Managing Director of Air Dispatch International, a UK-based specialist aviation support company which offers a range of cost-effective services to passenger and cargo airlines worldwide. Air Dispatch specialises in Centralised Load Control With Offices in both Prague and Warsaw which in 2012 will produce approximately 400,000 load sheets on behalf of a seven airlines Nick is an active participant in the IATA Load Control Working Group and the IATA Aviation Ground Services Agreements working group where he was recently elected as the Vice Chair. ASG: Sharif Hassan, Safety, Quality and Risk Manager, ASE - Aero Services Egypt Through his 15 years-old work activity, he gained his experience in eight different Egyptian airports working with several prominent airlines in the area of Safety, and got a good insight into the profession. As a certified Quality manager and a former Ramp Safety instructor, Sharif Hassan made significant contribution to enhance safety performance at Egyptian airports; identifying error trends and problem areas, getting to the root and developing safety procedures and material to reduce the opportunity for error. Sharif has the ability to gather and analyze operational safety data from a variety of sources to produce analytical reports and to initiate preventive occurrence measures. He also influenced the purchase of suitable ground service equipment for safe conduct of operations. Sharif has spent the last 12 years maintaining and developing Safety Management & Quality Management systems, writing and updating operational procedures for continuous improvement of airside safety performance, focusing on front personnel.
7 GSEE: Gerhard Baumgarten, Director Sales & Marketing, Lufthansa LEOS Gerhard Baumgarten first experienced the wonderful smell of kerosene nearly 30 years ago, while working for the German Volunteer Service at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania. In 1985 he became an employee of Lufthansa as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer for trouble shooting and modifications of all avionic equipment of Boeing 747 and 737. He started his management career in the aviation workshop at Frankfurt, responsible for all component repair work concerning the cabin electrical and entertainment system. Since 1995 he was working as the Director of the GSE Engineering Department at Lufthansa LEOS. Lufthansa LEOS (Lufthansa Engineering and Operational Services) is a 100% subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik. The engineering team is responsible for selection, specification, design, purchasing, distribution and training for all aspects of GSE and Aircraft Maintenance Tooling worldwide. In 2011 he was promoted as the Director Marketing & Sales at Lufthansa LEOS As the Chairman of the IATA Ground Service Equipment & Environmental Working Group (GSEE), Gerhard Baumgarten is heavily involved in the functional specifications for GSE. LCAM: Graeme Dewdney, Global Airside Manager, DHL
8 Graeme has worked in the Aviation sector for 14 years, for number companies in a variety of roles. His introduction to aviation was a temporary contract as a Tug and forklift driver at a busy cargo terminal, where he got a feel for the excitement of last minute decisions and time critical operations. This piqued his interest enough in Ground Handling where he graduated from the ramp agent through ranks to load controller, Operations Manager until he achieved his current position of Global Manager of SABLE & Training with DHL. DHL presented him with the opportunity to join the LCAM group, where he has had the privilege of meeting and working with some of the best in the business, and where he was voted as chairman in fall IGOM: Peter Laasner, Captain A330, Swiss International Air Lines I was born into an airline family in 1968 and grew up in Europe, Africa and the United States as my father was transferred around the world. After returning to Switzerland as a teenager I completed school and joined Swissair as an apprentice in After seven years in various departments within the airline s operations and with consolidation putting my career prospects at risk I made a radical decision: I completed flying training, received my Commercial Pilot s Licence and joined Crossair as a First Officer in Promotion to Captain followed in 1998 and since then I have had various functions including as a Type Rating Instructor on the Embraer 145 and later as Postholder Ground Operations at SWISS from 2006 until It was in this capacity that I joined the IGOM project. Currently I am flying long-haul on the A330. IATA Training for Aviation Professionals (workshop) Maurizio Anichini, Head of Instructor - Led Training, IATA Dimitrios Sanos, Product Manager, Airport & Ground Operations Training, IATA
9 Dimitrios is a member of team managing training programmes, reporting to Head of Instructor Led training at IATA s Training and Development Institute. He is currently based at Geneva Head Quarters. He manages the IATA s training programmes globally, related to Airports Planning and Management and Ground Operations. His primary role is to monitor training activities in his area of expertise, develop new training courses and enhance existing, maintain and develop faculty membership worldwide, as well as manage global market research analysis to cover the training needs of airlines, airports and ground service providers. He is a Physicist, with Masters Degree in Airport Planning and Management and recently completed his MBA at Kent Business School. Prior to joining IATA in 2010, he worked for Aegean Airlines and Goldair Handling in Athens, Greece, in different operational and management positions. He started his career as a Technical Project Manager in IT Network sector. Have your Say on the Future of the AHM/IGOM Publication (workshop) Thomas Klein, Product Manager, Passenger Segment Publications, IATA Thomas joined IATA in March 2008 and transferred to the Corporate Publishing division in June 2011 as Product Manager. Based in the Montreal office, he is responsible for the Passenger & Airport Segment products. The top 5 products in his portfolio include the Airport Handling Manual (AHM) & IATA Ground Operations Manual (IGOM), Passenger Services Conference Resolutions Manual (PSCRM), Airline Coding Directory (ACD), Standard Schedules Information Manual (SSIM) and the Multilateral Interline Traffic Agreements (MITA). Prior to his current role, he was the Project Manager in IATA s Operations division for the IATA Training & Qualification Initiative (ITQI) as well as the Operational Cost Reduction Initiative (OCRI) which included GO-Team visits to IATA member airlines identifying over US$ 600 million in potential savings. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies with French from Lancaster University in the UK.
