3 User Guide Watch our tutorial on how to put an itinerary together 1. Please read through and understand the terms & conditions, abbreviations, inclusions, exclusions and cancellation policies. 2. Select the departure that your clients are interested in. Please note that if you are selecting an East Africa (Kenya / Tanzania) departure you will need to add the Kenya price to the Tanzania price. Please make sure you select the correct season when adding the prices together. If they are doing an extension (Kenya Coast, Zanzibar or Uganda) this will also need to be added to the total price. 3. Select the date of departure your clients are interested in. 4. Turn to page 5 for Nairobi hotels or page 25 for Arusha hotels and select the hotel most suitable for your client. If your client requested a city excursion please remember to add this in these are listed on page 6 for Nairobi and page 26 for Arusha. 5. Once you have selected the hotel, find the correct season and add this amount to the Game Trails departure you selected. 6. Add the transfer from the airport to the hotel. Transfers costs are per vehicle NOT per person. 7. If your clients would like a beach extension turn to page 18 & 19 for the Kenya Coast hotels and page 37 for the Zanzibar hotels. Once you have selected the hotel please repeat points 5 & 6. If your clients request a beach excursion turn to page 20 for Kenya Cost excursions and page 38 for Zanzibar excursions. Please note that flights to both Mombasa/Diani and Zanzibar are not listed and will need to be quoted by a one of our dedicated team. 8. If your clients are not departing straight after their safari, you will need to include a night at the end in a Nairobi / Arusha hotel. 9. Finally you will need to include the transfer to the airport from Nairobi / Arusha. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THESE ARE NETT RATES YOU WILL NEED TO ADD YOUR MARK-UP. Terms & Conditions 1. All prices quoted are NETT and NON-COMMISSIONABLE. 2. Tours operate with a minimum of 02 passengers on set departures. 3. Private departures operate with 2 pax or more on any day of the clients choice (excluding Nyepesi Kilimanjaro). 4. The release period for a published departure is at 60 days prior to arrival. All published departures are subject to availability at time of confirmation. 6. Prices shown as Child are for children aged below 12 years sharing with two adults in one room. Anyone above the age of 12 years is considered an adult and pays the applicable adult prices. 7. If a tour overlaps two seasons, the higher rate will apply. 8. Cost of internal flights are subject to change at the time of travel with or without notice. 9. 4 Terms & Conditions Inclusions: All accommodation and meals as indicated. Pick-up & drop-off from the Nairobi City Centre / Arusha (other locations may incur a surcharge). Window seat in safari vehicles driven by experienced driver guides. All transfers, sightseeing and game drives as indicated in a 6 seater safari minibus (Kenya) & 4x4 Landcruiser (Tanzania). All Park Entrance Fees. 1 litre of mineral water per person per day. Other activities where specified. Tanzania only: Flying doctors medical evacuation service (does not include treatment). Exclusions: Accommodation and meals in Nairobi / Arusha at the beginning and end of the safari. Transfers from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport / Kilimanjaro International Airport to & from city hotels. Domestic airfares and airport taxes where applicable. International airfares and airport departure taxes. Entry visa fees. Some itineraries have individual inclusions & exclusions on their rates pages Payment Terms & Conditions: Abercrombie & Kent Destination Management s payment terms and conditions are dictated by those terms and conditions imposed by our suppliers. Terms vary considerably from supplier to supplier and your Abercrombie & Kent Tour Consultant will confirm exact details for each booking. However our general payment terms, unless otherwise stated, are: Method of Payment Bank transfer is preferred. Credit cards are accepted but on the understanding that all card transactions are subject to a 5% surcharge. Payment Policy A non-refundable deposit of 20% is required at the time of booking. The remainder of the tour cost is payable 61 days prior to departure. If the reservation is made within 60 days of departure, the entire tour price must be paid at the time of confirmation. Cancellation Policy All cancellations must be received in writing. Cancellation policies vary from supplier to supplier and your Abercrombie & Kent Tour Consultant will reconfirm exact details for each booking. However, our general cancellation terms, unless otherwise stated, are: Cancellations received between the date of booking and 61 days prior to departure will result in the loss of the deposit. Cancellations received days prior to departure will be subject to a cancellation charge of 25% of the tour price. Cancellations received days prior to departure will be subject to a cancellation charge of 50%of the tour price. Cancellations received days prior to departure will be subject to a cancellation charge of 75% of the tour price. Cancellations received 14 days or less prior to departure will be subject to a forfeiture of the entire tour price (100%). Cancellation of airline tickets will be subject to the refund policy of each individual airline and may be greater than the percentages above particularly when low cost/net based fares are used. The purchase of special event tickets is subject to the refund policy of each individual event. Please refer to the specific event policy for details. Abercrombie & Kent reserve the right to charge for financial penalties, fees and losses incurred as a result of cancellation. 4

6 Nairobi Half & Full Day Excursions Nairobi City Tour Daily Departure: half day tour starts at 10:00 hrs Tour Nairobi s principal landmarks including Kenyatta International Conference Centre, the Kenya National Museum and Snake Park, and other sights of interest. USD 69 per person Nairobi National Park Daily Departure: half day tour starts at 14:00 hrs Depart for a tour of the Nairobi National Park where visitors will have an opportunity to see most of the wild game found in Kenya, the only noticeable absentee being the African elephant. USD 98 per person Carnivore Experience Daily Departure: lunch or dinner starts at 12:00 / 18:30 hrs Enjoy lunch or dinner at Nairobi s Carnivore Restaurant, where whole legs of lamb and pork, sirloin, spare ribs, sausages, chicken wings, skewered kidneys - even crocodile and other tasty morsels - are roasted on traditional Maasai swords over a huge, visually spectacular charcoal pit. USD 70 per person Karen Blixen & Giraffe Centre Daily Departure: half day tour starts at 14:00 hrs Tour the Karen Blixen Museum, the original home of Baroness Karen Blixen from 1917 until 1931, made famous by the film Out of Africa. Visitors get a glimpse of typical colonial life in Kenya in the early 1900 s. Afterwards clients will visit the Giraffe Centre overlooking Ngong Hills and feed a real Rothschild giraffe. USD 68 per person Arts of Kenya Daily Departure: half day tour starts at 14:00 hrs Drive beyond Nairobi National Park to visit the Kitengela Glass Studios and discover the fascinating world of hot glass. Anselm and his team create the most amazing glass art pieces, stemware and more using recycled window glass. Thereafter, visit Kazuri Beads Factory. Kazuri, which means 'small and beautiful' in Swahili, began in 1975 as a small ceramic workshop experimenting in making handmade beads. USD 46 per person Coffee Farm Visit Daily Departure: half day tour starts at 13:00 hrs On arrival at the coffee farm in Limuru, the clients will be met and welcomed by the farm manager who will guide them through the farm. The visit begins at the nursery followed by the coffee processing machine, then to the fermenting tank, cleaning area, grading section and ends at the drying beds. Later they will visit the coffee mill where the coffee beans are roasted to produce the final product. Clients can then taste some freshly brewed coffee. USD 78 per person 6

After entering the park they will have a game drive en route to their hotel & arrive in time for dinner. Dinner and overnight: Ol Tukai Lodge / Amboseli Serena / Kilima Safari Camp Tuesday: Early wake-up call with tea/coffee followed by an early morning game drive. The rest of the morning is spent at leisure with lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon they will have a final game drive. Nyepesi Kilimanjaro Machame Route TG8 Overview: 5 days / 4 nights 1 Night Arusha 5 Nights Climbing Kilimanjaro Private departure only Day 1: Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport your clients will be met by our representative and taken to the hotel for overnight at Gold Crest Hotel or similar. Day 2: After breakfast, transfer to Machame village with picnic lunch where they begin the trek. From the park entrance gate (Machame), they will walk for about two to three hours through a dense forest with a lunch stop halfway. Depending on the pace of the climbers, arrival at Machame Camp is usually between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Guides tend to recommend a slow ascent, even at this point, for gradual acclimatisation. Do not try to keep up with your porters. Overnight: Machame Camp Day 3: On this and subsequent mornings, wake-up call is at around 6:00 AM. Today's trek takes them up a steep track through a savannah of tall grasses, volcanic rock, and bearded heather. Lunch will be taken just below the Shira Plateau, about three to four hours from Shira Camp and they should arrive between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM in the afternoon. Most climbers tend to pace themselves, walking slowly and resting about every half-hour. On arrival in camp, there is time to relax with their guides before dinner. Overnight: Shira Camp Day 4: A steady walk takes them up to the pass at Lava Tower (15,000 ft), where they stop for lunch. Crossing the Bastain stream, they will begin to descend towards Barranco Camp. Today is a full day trek and they will feel very tired. Arrival at camp is between 4:30PM and 5:30PM. Overnight: Barranco Camp Day 5: The scenic climb to Barafu is mostly on a moraine and lava ridge with a view of Mawenzi peak towering majestically to the right, and overhead, Kibo peak seemingly just out of reach. Lunch is taken in camp and in the afternoon there is a summit clothing check. Climbers who choose to ascend the peak will go to bed very early this night, as the next day is the longest one. Overnight: Barafu Camp Day 6: Ascent to Summit (19,430 ft) / Descent: they will be awakened before midnight and after a light breakfast, start climbing at around 12 midnight. It is at this stage that the climb becomes much more difficult. Climbers should carry as little as possible on this portion of the climb. Temperatures will range from -4 to 5 Fahrenheit. They will climb for about six hours before reaching the edge of the crater, Stella point. Another hour of climbing brings them to the summit. Uhuru stands at 19,340 feet and is the highest point on the continent of Africa. The track around the edge of the crater is rocky and often icy. The descent is no easier than the ascent. They will reach Barafu camp after about three hours (around 11:30 AM). Climbers will be given the opportunity to rest and have some refreshments before continuing on to Mweka Camp for the night. Arriving into camp at around 5:00 PM, they will have trekked a total of 13 to 17 hours today. Overnight: Mweka Camp Day 7: On the final day of the journey, climbers descend from Mweka camp to the base. The descent to the gate will take approximately five hours and climbers usually arrive before noon. Upon arrival they will met by our drivers and transferred to Arusha arrive in time for lunch under own arrangement. 36
