Long Walk to Freedom Take a step back in time as you visit the locations where several of South Africa s most pivotal scenes in the anti apartheid movement and Nelson Mandela s long walk to freedom unfolded. These reveal the historic milestones that took place during the last half of the 20th century, culminating in the inauguration of South Africa s first black president and stimulating the most progressive economic, social, political, and educational prosperity the country has seen. In Rivonia, tour Liliesleaf Farm, a key meeting place for members of the African National Congress (ANC) and the liberation movement in the early 1960s. Listen to the insights of specially arranged guest speaker Nicholas Wolpe, who will share an insider s perspective on the historic events surrounding Liliesleaf and the African National Congress (ANC). Known colloquially as Joburg, this charismatic city is home to one of the world s largest urban forests, where more than six million trees flourish in the pleasant subtropical highland climate. Upon arrival, check in to the five star Fairlawns Boutique Hotel. Friday, March 3 Johannesburg / Soweto Few places reflect South Africa s history like Johannesburg s once infamous South Western Townships, better known as Soweto.
