2 The itinerary 11 day standard itinerary Day 1 Australia Cape Town Today you ll depart from Sydney for Cape Town, South Africa with South African Airways and Virgin Australia (subject to availability). Meals included: In flight Day 2 Welcome to Cape Town Once you arrive in Cape Town you ll be met by a tour representative and taken to your hotel for the evening. Meals included: None Day 3 Cape Town half day city tour After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely half day tour of Cape Town. Including all the must-sees, this introduction is a geographical and cultural extravaganza. You ll see Cape Town from its historical beginnings to the dazzling modern shopping malls of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. If the weather is nice, you can end the tour by taking an optional ride on the cable car up Table Mountain. Day 4 Cape Peninsula tour This tour to the towering headland known as Cape Point encompasses magnificent beaches, breathtaking views, and picturesque coastal villages. The Cape Peninsula is one of the world s most scenic areas and stretches from the city centre all the way to Cape Point. In Simon s Town you ll stop for lunch where you might have the chance to see penguins. On the way back you ll also visit the beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. Day 5 Day at your leisure in Cape Town You ll have today free to explore the city of Cape Town however you like. You can join an optional Cape Wineland tour that s not included in your package for $115. This delightful drive winds its way to the heart of the Cape Winelands, through superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads. Day 6 Cape Town Johannesburg Mabula Game Lodge This morning you ll be taken to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. Once you arrive you ll be taken to your accommodation in Mabula Game Lodge. Over the next 4 nights you ll experience Mabula Game Lodge s varied habitats which provide ideal conditions for a selection of large animals including elephants, lions, rhinos, hyena, jackal and antelope. Depending on the time of year you visit, each experience is unique. Overnight: Mabula Game Lodge, Mabula Private Game Reserve, lunch and dinner Day 8 Mabula Game Lodge After a quick morning tea embark on an early morning game drive in search of wildlife once again. You ll return to the lodge around mid-morning for breakfast and enjoy free time for the rest of the day. Just before sunset you ll go on your second game drive of the day, for more wildlife viewing opportunities. Both Nobel peace prize laureates once lived in the now world famous Vilakazi Street in Orlando West. In the late afternoon, you ll be on your way to a Zambezi cruise. The Zambezi sunset cruise is a great way to relax and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Zambezi River. You may have the opportunity to see a variety of animals, including hippos, crocodiles, and elephants. The cruise also includes snacks, beer, wine, local spirits and soft drinks. Overnight: Cresta Sprayview Hotel, Victoria Falls Day 5 Victoria Falls Cape Town After breakfast you ll check out of your hotel and be taken to the airport for your connecting flight from Victoria Falls to Cape Town. The annual average temperature in Cape Town is a delightful 17 C. Cape Town lies on the 34th latitude South, together with Casablanca, Los Angeles and Sydney. Johannesburg, South Africa: Johannesburg is situated on the Highveld plateau, and has a subtropical highland climate. The city enjoys a sunny climate, with the summer months (October to April) characterised by hot days followed by afternoon thundershowers and cool evenings, and the winter months (May to September) by dry, sunny days followed by cold nights. Temperatures in Johannesburg are usually fairly mild due to the city s high elevation, with an average maximum daytime temperature in January of 25.6 C, dropping to an average maximum of around 16 C in June. The UV index for Johannesburg in summers is extreme, often reaching due to the high elevation and proximity to the equator. Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe: October is the hottest month in Victoria Falls with an average temperature of 27 C and the coldest is June at 17 C Tour Guide vs Tour Leader Tour Guide: Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group. Tour Leader: An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined. Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured. Coach tour Meals: 16 meals are included in the tour, for all other meals; lunches and dinners the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. 9 Important information Luggage: You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on the tour. With regards to luggage, you must carry your own luggage from the coach to the hotel room and back to the coach. The driver will assist with the uploading and off-loading of their luggage from the coach. Gratuities: Gratuities (tips) are not included in the tour price for services of the tour leader (when available) and driver throughout the tour and are optional and at the customers discretion. Fitness level required/mobility: Our vehicles are not equipped with wheelchair access, so unfortunately our tours are currently not suitable for wheelchair users and those less mobile. Visas South Africa A tourist visa is not required if travelling to South Africa on an Australian passport. Zimbabwe Passengers travelling on an Australian passport entering Zimbabwe for tourism purposes are required to pay for a single entry, 30-day visa on point of entry into Victoria Falls and costs $50 USD (subject to change). This is only required for travellers purchasing the 14 day package.
