Credit card payers must pay their full amount when they call in. Keep Your Group Informed: Use this planner to track payments or have participants call individually. Familiarize yourself and your group with the reservation and cancellation policies noted in this guide, on your confirmation, and our website. Request liability forms for any minors attending without parents or guardians. Hold a Pre-Trip Meeting: Have a final head count so there are no surprises when you arrive. Final balance is due 30 days prior to trip date. Make sure everyone knows which package they have booked, what is included, check-in times, arrival times and what items they need to bring. 3 Family Rafting As group organizer, it is important you select and appropriate trip for your entire group including: age range, ability, experience and fitness level. Use our Trip Rating System on each page to help determine which activity is right for everyone. Fledgling Beginner Intermediate Advanced Extreme Expert t tt tt Very Low Children s Activity Low No Necessary Moderate Strenuous Vigorous Prolonged Required Great for children. First timers welcome. Some physical ability required. Need agility, good balance, & strength. Need agility, good balance, strength & physical stamina. Great physical stength & atheltic ability. Upper New This trip travels through exceptionally scenic canyons and relatively calm water with a few easy rapids and plenty of places for playing or hanging out. This is the perfect trip for families with young children. Trips run in duckies or rafts that are fun yet safe for young kids. Minimum age: 6 Summer Lower New One of the most popular whitewater trips in America, the Lower New features over 25 rapids, beautiful scenery and relaxing pools. With enough challenges to thrill seasoned veterans, this trip is is also excellent for first timers. And did we mention it passes directly under the New River Gorge Bridge? Minimum age: 12 Once in awhile it really hits people that they don t have to experience the world in the way they have been told to. * Alan Keightley Fall Lower New Autumn brings a unique perspective to the Lower New. Water levels are usually lower than spring and summer and guests usually have the river all to themselves! This trip offers beautiful foliage and a one-of-a-kind experience watching base jumpers on Bridge Day in mid-october. Minimum age: 12 Keep in mind, family groups are not required to only participate in the trips listed above. You can book whatever trip you want! If your family is very adventurous and meets all requirements, feel free to book a more advanced excursion. However, you must be prepared. There are reasons we set age and weight restrictions. Be well informed about all activities you book and if you have questions just ask. 5

4 Extreme Rafting If your group is looking for something more than a float trip or want to guarantee great water levels, maybe a more extreme trip is just the ticket. Fledgling Beginner Intermediate Advanced Extreme Expert t tt tt Very Low Children s Activity Low No Necessary Moderate Strenuous Vigorous Prolonged Required Great for children. First timers welcome. Some physical ability required. Need agility, good balance, & strength. Need agility, good balance, strength & physical stamina. Great physical stength & atheltic ability. Spring Lower New An early spring rafting trip provides an extremely intense and exciting ride with high water, ocean sized waves, and huge rapids comparable to many western rivers. If you are a go-for-it person, this is what you re looking for. Be prepared for cool weather and big thrills. Minimum age: 14 Summer Gauley t Summer time levels change the appearance of the Gauley River to make the flow narrower and the runs steeper. You ll run the same rapids that made it famous, but in smaller crafts. This trip is a challenge and may take you out of your comfort zone, but promises to give you plenty of excitement! Minimum age: 15 Fall Lower Gauley t tt t There are more than 70 rapids on this 17 mile whitewater trip, so excitement is never in short supply! You ll take in breathtaking canyon scenery and experience powerful hydraulics and wave trains. This trip is advanced, but still appropriate for first time adults. Minimum age: 15 Spring Gauley t tt Springtime brings much higher water levels to the Gauley, even higher than the standard fall release. When this happens, we typically run trips on the Middle/ Lower Gauley section. You may also be lucky and catch the Gauley at flows near standard fall release. Minimum age: 15 Fall Upper Gauley tt tt This section of river drops over 335 feet in less than 9 miles. There are over 40 rapids and 5 major class V s. The Upper Gauley is continuous, big volume, gutwrenching whitewater from start to finish. Due to the nature of this trip, prior rafting experience and the ability to self-rescue are required. Minimum age: 15 Water and life are two threads woven intrinsically together. * David Cavagnaro 6
