1 ЮМПЗ Україна (2012) Обіжник КПС Австралії ч.1 (24 жовтня 2011) Dear Plastuny and Parents, ЮМПЗ Україна will take place in August 2012 and finalise the celebrations for 100 years of Plast. KPS has now received information regarding the options available to participants. This is summarised below and more detailed information about the numerous tabir options is attached. The ЮМПЗ is broken into 2 etaps: Etap 1 (10-18 August) is made up of various tabory across Україна for УПН, УПЮ, УСП and мандрівки (tours) for УСП / пластприят Етап 2 (19 25 August) is a зустріч for all in Lviv, based at the Ukrainian Catholic University which is situated in the suburbs of Lviv, with various activities in and around Lviv. Participants can take part in either or both etaps. УПН / УПЮ / УСП / виховники will be allocated to one of their top 3 preferences of tabir if they register by returning the registration forms to KPS Australia at: plast100@plast.org.au by 25 November Preferences for tabir cannot be guaranteed for registrations received after this date. TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS KPS is planning to organise group flights, accommodation for before and after, visas, transfers and train travel within Ukraine, and group t-shirts for ЮМПЗ in Depending on interest, 3 options will be catered for: a) Departing Australia approx 7/8 August, arriving home approx 27/28 August allowing 2 days before and 2 days after ЮМПЗ for those that need to return as soon as possible to return to school etc. b) Departing Australia approx 7/8 August, arriving home approx 1/2 September - allowing 2 days before and 1 week after ЮМПЗ (to be spent with group on organised sightseeing or free travel eg to visit family). c) Those wishing to travel further before and/or after ЮМПЗ will need to organise their own flights and join the group in Ukraine for the ЮМПЗ component. A parent/guardian must travel with members of УПН. Members of УПЮ will be accompanied by Australian виховники at all times, however parents/guardians may also accompany the group if desired.

2 Please register your interest in the group flights by returning the registration forms to KPS Australia at: by 25 November COSTS At this stage participants should budget in the order of $4000 (not including additional tour costs for УПС / Пластприят refer attached). Payment will be required in instalments more information will be provided as soon as more detail becomes available. Budget: $3000 travel costs (flights, train travel, visa) $450 cost of ЮМПЗ (or $400 for only Etap 2) $550 accommodation / sightseeing / spending money Once registrations have been received and an idea of numbers is known, negotiations with travel agents / airlines can commence to try and arrange the cheapest flights. Discussions will also be held with Plast in Ukraina regarding opportunities for reducing accommodation costs (eg staying in Plast Domivka, billeting) in Ukraina before and after ЮМПЗ. Any fundraising undertaken by your hurtok / kurin / stanycia will obviously help to reduce the individual costs! What do I need to do? An information session will be held for those in Victoria after Ukrainian school at North Melbourne on Saturday 5 th November at 2pm. УПЮ Etap1: 17 choices for tabir in various parts of Ukraine (10-18 August) Register by 25 November 2011 Unatstvo to nominate top 3 preferences and will get placed on one of these For younger unatstvo (12+ years doing 1 or 2 proba): Historical tabir - covering history and ancient traditions and including activities such as archery, extended field games, fire twirling, knights tournaments and visiting historical sites Hiking tabir 'Pidjom z perevorotom' - hiking and learning about ethnographic and cultural aspects of the area Water hike 'U poshykakh' - canoe/rafting hike and other interesting activities and excursions 1sha proba Tabir - covering basic Plast skills and outdoor education for those undertaking 1sha proba For unatstvo 14+ years, who have completed at least 1 proba: Sea scouting tabir 'Morskyj' - covering theorectical (navigation, signalling, boating rules) and practical (kayaks, canoeing, yachting, katamarans, surfing, diving) Flying tabir 'Chota krylatykh' - covering aerodynamics, flying and landing paragliders, theory behind construction and building of aircraft, aviation meterology Hiking tabir 'Hoverla' - hiking through Karpaty and learning how to prepare for and run hikes, survival skills, cartography, food and cooking on hikes Horseriding/kozak traditions tabir 'Hertz' - covering horseriding, respecting kozak history and traditions, spiritual development and practical skills Sporting tabir 'Kalynovyj oberih' - covering mainstream (e.g. soccer, volleyball) and emerging (e.g. frisbee) sports, VFV, team development, training, developing healthy body-healthy mind Bike riding tabir Revor - visiting various natural and architectural sites and covering theory of bike-hiking Water hike 'Druha stekhia' - canoe/rafting hike visiting interesting natural and architectural sites

4 Ecological tabir Vovcha shkola - covering practical skills such as lowimpact camping, pioneering, rock-climbing and an understanding of the ecosystems in the Karpaty through participation in an eco-project Stationary tabir 'Poburlakayem svitamy'- covering basic Plast skills and including hiking, bike riding, rock climbing and watersports to develop independence and practical skills Vyshkil tabir 'Zolota bulava' - leadership development tabir For older unatstvo: Stationary tabir 'Legion' - various activities of a sporting, historical, geographical, cultural and sightseeing nature to develop independence and practical skills (min 1 proba, 15 years) Arts and culture tabir 'Metamorfozy' - covering music, theatre, traditional arts and crafts to develop a moral, spiritual and nationalistic identity (min 1 proba, 16 years) Vyshkil tabir 'KVT' for those doing 3-a proba (16-17 years) Etap 2: ЮМПЗ in Lviv (19-25 August) Cultural, ethnographical and sporting activities Excursions around Lviv area eg city tours, castles, tourist attractions Concerts, games, vatry, competitions, masterclasses Members of УПЮ will be accompanied by Australian виховники at all times, however parents/guardians may also accompany the group if desired.
