2 Originally founded in Dublin, back in 1965 under the name Fridge Spares by two brothers Dessie and Brendan Byrne. During the late 60 s to early 1970 s the business focused on refrigerated cabinets with a sole agency for Craig Nicol Cabinets. branch in Cork and in 1998 opening a third branch in Belfast. By now the stock portfolio had also evolved to include, Danfoss, Friga Bohn evaporators, Copeland compressors & condensing units. In 2000 Fridge Spares Ireland acquired Refrigeration Parts Wholesale Ltd or RPW as it was known. RPW was originally a Midlands based AC&R wholesaler. However with further investment more branches were added in the UK under the RPW banner. The business continued to trade in the UK under the RPW brand name for another decade. This first acquisition sowed the seed for some quite phenomenal growth over the next few years. In 2008 Fridge Spares (Ireland) acquired Northern Refrigeration Wholesale Ltd, another independent UK based refrigeration & air conditioning wholesaler. NRW were a well-respected wholesaler with a branch network that complimented and improved the already established RPW branch network. Dessie Burn co-founder of Fridge Spares Wholesale in Ireland In the mid 70 s the company took a different direction & expanded into the Refrigeration Wholesale sector with the introduction of L Unite Hermetique, Flica and Heynen evaporators. In 1991 the Managing Directors responsibility was handed down to Dermot Byrne (Dessie s son). With new management came a fresh impetuous for Fridge Spares, the company expanded in Ireland by adding a second The acquisition of NRW also included some specialist niche brands within the NRW portfolio of companies, namely, Equipment Spare Parts Ltd (ESP), a dedicated supplier of commercial cabinet & case parts, along with Just One Call Ltd (JOC) and NRW fm, both specialist procurement one-stop-shop suppliers to supermarket after market contractors. With both NRW and RPW, it was decided to merge the two businesses and create a new brand for the UK operations, hence in 2010 the FSW brand name was born. With the opening of new branches in Newcastle, Chelmsford, Southampton, London (Isleworth), & Edinburgh and Celebrating our 50th Anniversary 2

3 by the acquisition of the former Gasco branches in Glasgow & Dartford, FSW became a truly national wholesaler, the equal of traditional companies operating in the sector. FSW is a wholesaler committed to the commercial refrigeration market providing unrivalled technical & applications support and supporting the business with quality experienced branch staff. FSW is also a specialist air conditioning equipment supplier, becoming distributors for Fujitsu, Mitsubishi Electric & Hitachi. FSW is committed to holding large stocks, The Byrne Brothers with 50th Celebration Cake Dermot (Left) Derek (Right) 2013 saw another acquisition in the UK, this time Beacon Design and Engineering Ltd, a manufacturer of bespoke commercial refrigeration products. Beacon enables FSW to offer a full range of refrigeration equipment from customised dressed condensing units to blast chillers & supermarket packs. providing excellent technical support and training with its fully equipped training facility based in Southampton. FSW is the largest distributor of Fujitsu Air Conditioners in the UK. With bespoke refrigeration equipment capability, specialist spare parts supplier, two industry leading procurement divisions and one of the UK s largest A/C suppliers, there is more to FSW than meets the eye. 4 Here we take a look back at the events and marketing programs organised to celebrate our 50th anniversay To mark our 50 th Year in style we set up a 50 th Anniversary Project team to organise a number of one off customer events & promotions throughout The team decided on Four 4 Special Customer Events organised around the UK, These events would include: Horse Racing 20/20 Cricket Golf Day Track Driving Day Here s a reminder of those events: 16 th June was our first event of the year... A Day at the Races, in Stratford. We were joined by our main sponsors Celebrating our 50th Anniversary 4

5 3rd of July saw us enjoy another glorious day of bright sunshine this time at the Cricket in Worcester for a 20/20 match. We were joined by our main sponsors and 20 customers who all had a day to remember. FSW Celebrating our 50th Anniversary 5

6 September was the month for our Flagship event. Attended by over 70 staff and customers at the Cardon Park Golf & Spa Hotel in Cheshire, playing on the Jack Nicklaus Championship Course. The main sponsors of this event were Celebrating our 50th Anniversary 6

7 October was our as a day at the Track, driving very fast supercars and testing out our rallying Skills at Vision Motorsport in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. We were joined by over 40 customers who all had the pleasure of driving an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and a Lamborghini Gallardo. We also tested our rally driving skills, and finished the day being driven around the track in a mighty Arial Atom. This event was sponsored by Celebrating our 50th Anniversary 7

8 The culmination of of our 50 th Anniversary was celebrated in style on the 19th of November at the Belfry. the history of the company and thanking the customers, staff and suppliers for their support over the The event was attended by 250 customers and staff. The evening started with a champagne reception followed by a very enjoyable 4 course meal with wine. Our Commercial Director Mr Mark Henderson did a grand job of hosting the evening. We were entertained during the reception and dinner by a magician who kept us enthralled with his tricks and a caricaturist who drew some wonderful cartoon versions of customers and staff. After dinner Mr Dermot Byrne FSW Group Chairman, gave a heartfelt speech, explaining Mark Henderson last 5 decades. Dermot and Mark then presented the Long Service Awards to staff who have been with FSW for over 30 years. Dermot Byrne Celebrating our 50th Anniversary 8

9 Dermot also announced that he was giving all the FSW UK Group staff an extra days holiday in 2016 as a thank you for their loyalty and service. Prizes were also awarded to the company who accrued the most points during our Golden Rewards promotion which ran from April to October. This was thanks to customer and staff generosity kindly topped up by the directors of FSW. We have also been lucky enough to have suppliers who have sponsored our 50 th Anniversary. Not only did they sponsor the events they also provided some excellent prizes for the raffle at each event and the gala dinner was no exception. City Refrigeration Holdings. 10 The after dinner speaker was Scottish comedian and presenter Fred MacAulay, Fred was genial company and helped present the awards before performing his comedy act that was enjoyed by everyone. 11 2015 A Year of Promotions From April to October 2015 we ran our biggest ever FSW Promotion. This campaign was open to ALL 5000 account customers, we officially named it Golden Rewards a promotion offering points for prizes. From June to July we ran our 50 Day 50 Give Away A Promotion Specifically designed for customers who collect from any one of our 25 Trade Counters around the UK we guaranteed a winner from each of our 25 Trade Counters, each receiving a tools voucher worth 50 + VAT. July to August we ran our FREE Mini Fridge Prize Draw Every time you purchased an item from any one of Super 8 Sponsors you were automatically entered into the prize draw to win one of 30 Bahco Mini Fridges. The promotion were a great success with many great prizes donated by our sponsors and FSW Celebrating our 50th Anniversary 11
