The Gavois Geenway is pat of the lage netwok of geenways thoughout the St. Louis egion. Each geenway is unique they connect to businesses, neighbohoods, ives, ceeks, paks and consevation aeas, so you have options to exploe and enjoy. ROUTE PLANNED? Like all Geat Rives Geenway pojects, we seek input fom aea esidents. The poject team held public open houses in 2012 and 2013 and a meeting with neaby popety ownes in The team also met with epesentatives fom the Missoui Depatment of Tanspotation (MoDOT), Ameen, the Metopolitan St. Louis Sewe Distict, and neaby business ownes. This geenway connection will follow an existing aiload coido and MoDOT ight of way. The geenway will not be built on any pivate esidential popety. This oute is diffeent fom the one poposed at the 2013 public open house because it poved to have the geatest achievability fo safely connecting the Gavois and Rive des Pees Geenways in the nea futue. WHO IS GREAT RIVERS? Geat Rives Geenway is the public agency connecting the St. Louis egion with geenways. Geat Rives Geenway woks with citizens and patnes to build, bing to life, and cae fo a netwok of geenways thoughout St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and St. Chales County. WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THIS PROJECT? Phase 1: impove the southen tailhead: Restooms, benches, dinking fountain, self-sevice bicycle epai station, playgound New landscaping, estiped paking lot with speed table Phase 2: extend the existing eight miles of Gavois Geenway an additional two miles to connect with the Rive des Pees Geenway. When the full extension is complete, thee will be thee geenways linked togethe Gavois, Rive des Pees, and Mississippi with 21 continuos miles to exploe and enjoy. WHAT IS THE CONSTRUCTION TIMELINE? HOW WILL ACCESS BE IMPACTED DURING CONSTRUCTION? Phase 1: Began in 2017, completed in June 2018 Phase 2: Begin in Fall 2018 and will be completed in 2019, celebated in Sping 2020 Duing constuction, thee will be taffic impacts to Rive City Boulevad, Webe and Bayless Roads, but not at the same time, with advance notice and detous if needed. HOW IS THIS PROJECT BEING FUNDED? The total cost fo constuction of both phases is $14 million. The poject is being funded though a mix of fedeal tanspotation gants, pivate donations, and Geat Rives Geenway taxpaye funds.
