Fom ou snow coveed mountain peaks to ou lightly dusted foests, the landscape is a winte wondeland awaiting adventue. Fom snowshoeing to fat biking, the options fo winte activities ae endless. In fact, the sky is the limit when it comes to winte fun as Jaspe National Pak is the second lagest dak sky peseve on the planet. Most nights you can look up and see billions of stas dancing ovehead. Enjoy a shot ski to the Whilpool Rive that ovelooks beautiful Mount Kekeslin and take a beak along the shoeline to watch the meican dippes as they fly in and out of the open wate all winte long. Eithe continue along to the end of the tail (14 km etun), o make the Whilpool Rive you etun point (.2 km etun). Don t foget to bing a picnic and enjoy the ive view! lan - Field Unit Supeintendent MLIGNE LKE RE SNOWSHOEING few yeas ago, with some Chistmas tukey to wea off and with Gandma and Gandpa in tow, ou family ventued to Maligne fo a snowshoe. It was a quintessential Rocky Mountain blue sky day and the snow was plentiful. We saw big and little tacks in the snow, made snow angels, and enjoyed a tailgate picnic. Typically occuing in Novembe, wild skating is when the ice feezes solid and thick but the snow hasn t coveed it yet. It s a geat place to wande out onto a beautiful, snow-coveed lake, play hide and seek behind giant bouldes and if you e lucky, check out huge snow cystals. ing you skis, snowshoes, o even just you winte boots, and a themos of hot chocolate fo this geat outing. mbe - Land Use Planning ROUND TOWN TRILS WINTER WLKING When I am looking fo a gentle 6-km walk (o un), I leave fom town and head down the Red Squiel Tail. Fom thee I connect onto Tail and meande along, taking in the cisp fesh ai, views of stunning Pyamid Mountain and the thabasca Rive. If I go ealy enough in the day... ROUND TOWN You don t have to go fa beyond the Jaspe townsite to enjoy pak wildeness. The many tails aound Pyamid make it a winte oasis fo snowshoeing and fat biking, while its glistening fozen lake offes spectacula skating. Fo an enchanting winte walk, ventue out onto the extensive tail netwok suounding the townsite. The tail fom Red Squiel to ig Hon is a fantastic fat biking oute. 3. HIGHWY 93 Situated along this peaceful oad ae seveal pictuesque coss-county skiing destinations fo all levels of expeience. Fo a slightly longe adventue, ski along the olling hills and gentle ive landscape of the Whilpool Tail to Moab. Once back, tade you coss-county skis fo snowshoes and admie spectacula views of Mount Kekeslin fom the thabasca Falls Rive Tail. 2. MLIGNE VLLEY One of the most stunning aeas in Jaspe National Pak is the Maligne Valley. The fozen watefalls and sueal ice fomations in Maligne Canyon make it a magical place to exploe. You might even catch a glimpse of ice climbes hee! Futhe up the valley, admie stunning winte vistas at Medicine and Maligne, then bundle up fo a stoll on the May Schäffe Tail, along Maligne. 4. ICEFIELDS PRKWY ND RE Winding 232 gloious kilometes though the heat of Jaspe and anff national paks, the Icefields Pakway has been called one of the most scenic dives in the wold. Glacies, viewpoints, fozen watefalls and hikes galoe can be found along this spectacula pakway. Don t foget to find the Red Chais on Wilcox Pass! Just beyond the Columbia Icefield is anff National Pak, whee plenty of extaodinay vistas and adventues await. 15 Tangle Falls 96 km south of Jaspe This beautiful, cascading icefall ight beside the oad makes fo a geat photo stop. Guys Weeping Wall 124 km south of Jaspe The Weeping Wall tumbles moe than 100 metes (330 feet) in a seies of watefalls whose main fall is called Teadop. The sight is even moe impessive in the winte when the many watefalls ae fozen in time and it becomes a popula ice climbing destination. ow Viewpoint 193 km south of Jaspe One of the most scenic lakes along the Pakway and the souce of the ow Rive. The stunning views take in the Wapta Icefield, ow Glacie, Cowfoot Mountain and Mount Thompson. Peyto 190 km south of Jaspe shot uphill snowshoe (2.5 km etun) fom the oad leads to a panoamic view of beautiful fozen and snow coveed Peyto. Stay on the main tail to avoid avalanche teain and othe winte hazads. Snowshoes o ice cleats ecommended. Cowfoot Glacie 19 km south of Jaspe Enjoy this ewading view fom the oadside pull-off. When this glacie was named a centuy ago, it looked like a thee-toed cow s foot. Since then, one toe has melted, and the middle toe is slowly disappeaing.
