3 Located in the heart of the French Riviera, between Cannes (10km) and Nice (20km), Antibes/Juan-les-Pins offers 25km of sandy beaches and the city itself has retained its 16th architectural charm. Juan-les-Pins district, located by the sea, is famous for its endless summer nightlife. Looking for a place that can be both quiet and fun? Look no further than Antibes! 3

4 CLIMATE Antibes has an average of 300 sunny days per year (and 25km of sandy beaches!). HOW TO REACH ANTIBES At 18 km from Nice/Cote d Azur international airport, Antibes is very easy to reach from anywhere in the world: Only 7 hours from New-York (direct flights) Less than 2 hours from the major European capitals (direct flights) Only 1h20 from Paris by plane (direct flights) and at 4h45 by train (TGV). 5 TRANSPORTATION WITHIN ANTIBES/JUAN-LES-PINS BY FOOT - The city is quite easy to go around and distances are reasonable for walking. The best way to explore it is by foot! SCOOTERS - Scooters and small motorbikes are very practical. Rentals start at 30 per day BY BUS - Large and effective network. A weekly pass costs 10. TAXIS - Thanks to their CIA student card, up to 4 students are entitled to favorable pricing for one way trips after 8pm, costing between 10-20, depending on the trip and provided it is within Antibes/Juan-les-Pins. TRAIN AND BUS - Link all the cities along the coast at a frequency of about 1 every 20 minutes every day. Stations are never far away from the beaches and a bus journey costs only 1 5

6 Our courses take place in one of our two schools: "Le château": "Ecole du port": This is our main school where most of our courses are taught. Has been welcoming students since 2002 whenever "Le chateau" school is at maximum capacity. Assignment to a school: Students will be notified before their arrival of which school they will be attending. In most cases, this will be "Le Château". "Le Port" welcomes students principally at Easter, in June and in September. A school, a restaurant and 10 studios in an amazing location. "Le château" is a provencal house surrounded by flowered gardens and set in a calm environment, only a few minutes walk from the beaches and the center of Antibes. 6

7 "LE PORT" SCHOOL: In the heart of the pedestrian zone and only 30m from the harbor Since 2002, our second school has been welcoming students whenever the "Le château" school has reached its maximum capacity: mainly during Easter, in June and in September. The school is well located, in the heart of the pedestrian zone, away from the noisy areas at only 30m from the harbor. The premises: Bright and pleasant classrooms On the 1st floor of a beautiful house of the old city. 7 classrooms A small cyber space Soft drinks and snacks dispensers Note: Students welcomed in the "Le Port" school can have their lunches in the many nearby restaurants (8 to 15 ), or get take away meals from cafes (4 to 6 ). Our teachers (FLE) All of our teachers are university graduates. They have been selected according to their qualifications, experience and interpersonal skills. Passionate about their work, they enable individual students to progress at their own pace, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. 8 THE FIRST DAY There is no class on the first day; this day is dedicated to the presentation of our school and team, a tour of Antibes and a placement test. Morning of the first day: Welcome of new students. Introduction of our school and team, information about the stay, and tour of Antibes. Meeting time : 8:30am at the "Le Château" school. In the afternoon: Written and oral test to evaluate each student s level which will allow to set up groups of different levels. Meeting time : 1:30pm at the "Le Château" school. The levels we offer are set according to Common European framework for languages, except for complete beginners. Equipment in our schools TV sets, CD, VCR and DVD players. Tape recorders and video cameras Cyber space Multimedia library with hundred of documents. 8

9 Library. Teaching resources and documents Centre International d'antibes' grammatical guide developed by our teaching team is given to each student. Our teaching resources are mostly composed of documents of French daily and professional life : press reviews, audio and video documents, advertisements, pictures, paintings from different periods, comics, movies and book extracts, video clips and actual French songs... Teaching activities sometimes rely on the study of French and French-speaking websites. Teaching follow-up Small groups allow teachers to develop an appropriate curriculum and be responsive to each individual's needs no matter how long the program is. Every four weeks, each student is offered an overall evaluation, consisting of constructive advice to help them progress yet further. For students preparing for a DELF exam, a mock examination is held approximately every 3 weeks, simulating real examination conditions. These ensure regular updates on the students' progress From our perspective, we want to monitor the evolution of our program by asking students to fill out a questionnaire to evaluate each aspect of their stay. 9

These prices include: Lessons from Monday to Friday (except arrival day and public holidays) Written and oral tests upon arrival Courses are not held nor paid from until , however accommodation is guaranteed during those two weeks. Arrival dates Arrival dates for Standard, Intensive 1 and Intensive 2 course: Every Monday (accommodation from Sunday to Saturday) between and (except for beginners see below). "Complete beginners" course: Jan-May: June-Aug: Sept-Dec: "Executive" course*: Jan-May: June-Aug: Sept-Dec: Stays of more than 8 weeks not aimed at an examination: Jan-May: June-Aug: Sept-Dec: Public holidays : No lessons on French national holidays which fall on week days. The lessons are not replaced neither refunded except for the individual classes. THE DELF: An official diploma The " Diplôme d'études en Langue Française" is awarded by the French Ministry of Education, in accordance with the "Common European framework of reference" for EU languages. The DELF is recognized and accepted for entry into French universities and France's most prestigious schools. The DELF is considered as the necessary and essential benchmark examination which is official proof of one s French level. 11

12 DELF Dates and prices (1) Graded according to the Common European Framework of Reference (2) Depending on the candidate s level upon arrival ; the duration of the preparation; the exam dates and the level achieved at the end of the preparation (3) Afternoon courses are mandatory for a period of 4 weeks (4) Afternoon courses are mandatory * please note: 5 weeks of lessons, 1 week for exams ** please note: 3 weeks of lessons, 1 week for exams Important information about the DELF courses: The examination takes place during the last week of your stay. Depending on the exam date, the last week will be dedicated to final preparation (if the exam takes place at the end of the week) or to the correction of the exam (if the exam takes place at the beginning of the week). Upon registration, students are sent a level test. This should be returned as soon as possible. Students' transfers to the regional examination centers can be arranged (21 /day round trip). Prior to departure, students are given a certificate from the school certifying the length of the course taken, the level achieved, and the teacher's appraisal. The registration fee set by the French national Education is 100 per unit and must be paid upon arrival (fees may be subject to change). The examinations may run over a period of three days. 12

13 Parents & Kids : Accommodation and courses Accommodation [High standard only] Families may choose: Double studio (2 beds) in "Castel Arabel" or in "Garret" residence. A triple studio (3 beds) in "Castel Arabel" residence. 2 room apartment (4 beds) in "Castel Arabel" residence. 2 double studios (4-5 beds) next to each other, with a common terrace or balcony (without an interior communicating door) in "Castel Arabel" or in "Garret" residence. Juniors Programs (12-17 years old) Juniors will take part in our Juniors Program 7/7 days, which includes: 20 lessons per week x 45min/week Full board Excursions, activities, entertainment, supervision, evenings Note: Parents and Juniors will have courses in the same school, except in summer; Juniors courses will then take place on a much larger campus. We do not provide transportation to the Junior schools. Adult courses STANDARD COURSE: 20 lessons x 45min/week INTENSIVE 1 COURSE: 30 lessons x 45min/week Adults may choose any other of our short courses. 13

One booking, one contact, one invoice : It just takes one application for both parts of the stay. One enrollment, one booking confirmation, one payment, one teaching file...all handled by the Centre International d'antibes, who will also transfer the academic file to "ACCORD-Paris". 14

In Antibes, accommodation in residence is available on request. French courses: PROGRAM 1 : Antibes: 20 lessons x 45' per week Paris : 26 lessons x 45' per week PROGRAM 2 : Antibes: 30 lessons x 45' per week Paris : 30 lessons x 45' per week PROGRAM 3 : Antibes: 36 lessons x 45' per week Paris : 38 lessons x 45' per week Notes: - No lesson on the Monday of arrival: welcome & information meeting and visit around the city in the morning. - At 1.30 pm, a written test and an oral interview are set, in order to place the student in the appropriate group. - No class on French national holidays. Antibes + Paris : Dates and prices [per week] Transfers Transfer upon arrival: Round trip transfers from Nice airport or Antibes train station is included in the above prices for students accommodated in families. Mid-stay transfer Antibes-Paris: 4h50 by TGV (High Speed Train) or by plane. The ticket will be booked and paid by the student with the assistance of the Centre International d Antibes staff. All transfers in Paris are the student's responsibility. 15

Note: No double occupancy for students over 30 years old unless in case of simultaneous reservations. * Castel high standard was previously called "Lou Mas" residence Assignment to a residence: We cannot guarantee that the student will be accommodated in a specific residence of a desired level of comfort, whatever the date of booking. Notes : - Proposed ONLY when the maximum capacity of Castel Arabel medium standard rooms has been reached. - No multiple occupancy for students over 30 years old unless in case of simultaneous reservations. 19 A modern residence in the heart of Juan-les-Pins, only 70 meters from the sea. Students may choose a single room or a double room. Notes: - No double occupancy for students over 30 years old unless in case of simultaneous reservations. - Proposed ONLY when the maximum capacity of Castel Arabel medium standard rooms and Sun Holidays medium standard rooms have been reached. Students may choose a single room or a double room with bed & breakfast only or with half board formula. Note that students may enjoy full board by booking weekend lunches with their family and taking weekdays lunches at the school self-service restaurant. If the student has to share a room, we will do our best to place him/her with another student of similar age whose first language is not his/her own. The size of rooms may vary depending on the host families. Students can ask the host family to use their washing machine. The family may charge 2 per machine. Note: No double occupancy for students over 25 years old unless in case of simultaneous reservations. 19

Weekend lunches in family: 15 /weekend Lunches can be taken at the restaurant at "Le Chateau" school from 5 to 9 (Opened from Monday to Friday). TRANSFERS The host family will transport the student to and from Antibes train station or Nice airport. ADDRESS AND INFORMATION Students will receive all details on the host family within 4 weeks of their arrival. Students should inform us if they have their own car. We know some very welcoming houses that can only be accessed with a car. 22 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE RESIDENCES: Arrivals and departures Students accommodated in host families are picked up free of charge from either from Nice airport or Antibes train station. Students accommodated in residence are transferred (for a fee) : - One way trip provided by the school: 45 /person to/from Nice airport 15 /person to/from Antibes train station - City taxis: +/- 50 from Nice airport and from Antibes train station - Public bus transit from Nice airport to the center of Antibes (1.30 ) Arrivals are expected on Sunday and departures on Saturday. Nevertheless, for the cost of an extra day or two, students have the possibility of arriving Saturday and/or leaving on Sunday. It is important for the students to arrive during the hours when the reception is open. If this is impossible, we will ask the student to reserve a ride with CIA Antibes. Our driver will have the keys and will settle him (her) in his (her) room. When the student does not need assistance, the keys and room information will be available at the reception: - Residence Castel Arabel: Saturday from and Sunday from 9.00 a.m a.m and Sunday from a.m 7.30 a.m. - Residence Garret: Saturday from and Sunday from 9.00 a.m a.m and Sunday from a.m 7.30 a.m. - Residence Sun Holidays: Sunday from a.m 7.30 a.m. - Residence Couleurs Soleil: From June to September: 24h/24. From October to June: From Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m p.m and pm pm Saturday: 8.00 a.m p.m Sunday: 9.00 a.m p.m Deposit for the studios and rooms: A deposit of 200 is to be paid on arrival. This deposit may be paid in cash, Traveler s Check or credit card and will be fully refunded on the day of departure, minus any expenses incurred as a direct result of damages, missing items, costs of repairs or any cleaning that may be necessary. Free services City tax: 0,4 /person/night to be paid on arrival. Linens are supplied for the duration of the student s stay and are provided weekly. Message delivery. Luggage service. Lunch - Self service at "Le Château" school from Monday to Friday (5-9 ) - At "Le Latino" restaurant for students in the Port school (10-13 ) or in numerable nearby cafes and bars (4-6 for a take-away meal). Other meals - "At home" for those accommodated in high standard studios - Students engaged in a long program (8 weeks or more) living in the residence have access to a large, equipped communal kitchen. - Other students have a large choice of other restaurants only minutes away by foot, ranging from cheap eateries to more sophisticated dining. How to contact the students All the messages (phone and fax) will be posted on the information board in the residence. Please note that the staff at the residences cannot transfer the phone calls directly to the students nor notify the students in their room. 23

29 This section is a description of our Junior Programs that is common to all our destinations. You will find specific information about each program on the page of each destination. ATOLL JUNIORS destinations: ANTIBES (French Riviera) : years old During Easter, Pentecost, Summer and Autumn. Accommodation in Antibes: campus or host family. Program without accommodation available for y. old CANNES (French Riviera) : years old During Summer. Accommodation in Cannes: host family. Program without accommodation available HYERES (Provence) : 9-17 years old During Summer. Accommodation in Hyères: campus. Program without accommodation available! Relaxed sailing program (included) or intensive sailing program (at a supplement of 100 /week). Our programs for students from 9 to 17 years old are all inclusive. The package price of 630 /week includes: Standard course (20 lessons x 45min) Accommodation Full board Activities and excursions Supervision Return transfers from the airport or the station We offer the following courses: Standard course - Antibes, Cannes and Hyères. 20 lessons x 45min/week From Monday to Friday 9am-12noon.* 15 students maximum per class COURSES Intensive course - Antibes and Cannes. 26 lessons x 45min/week From Monday to Friday 9am-12noon* and on Tuesday and Thursday 1:30pm-3:45pm. 15 students maximum per class in the morning, 10 in the afternoon. 29

Number of lessons on request. Note: *15 min. break in the morning. ACCOMMODATION WITH FULL BOARD : Campus or Host family CAMPUSES : Antibes and Hyères ROOMS: There are pleasant light and airy rooms with large windows and equipped for 2, 3 or 4 students. The rooms have their own private storage space and either a private bathroom or a shared bathroom located on each floor.* MEALS: All meals are taken on campus except on weekend's excursions days (packed lunch is provided). Most meals are presented in the form of a buffet which also provides for the requirements of vegetarian dietary SWIMMING POOL: The Antibes and Hyères campuses each feature a mobile swimming pool of 16 meters long. HOUSEKEEPING: - Sheets are provided (but not towels) and are changed weekly. - Light cleaning is done daily and the residence is cleaned thoroughly on a weekly basis. - Students are responsible for keeping their room reasonably clean and tidy. SERVICES: - Public telephone/fax - Cafeteria and/or Automat - Coin-operated Laundromat - TV room Notes: - *A 50 deposit will be required before occupying the shared room. This deposit may be paid in cash, Traveler s Cheque or credit card and will be fully refunded on the day of departure, minus any expenses incurred as a direct result of damages, missing items, costs of repairs or any cleaning that may be necessary. - During the Easter, Pentecost and Autumn programs in Antibes, students will be accommodated in our smaller sized residence (Castel Arabel). 30

31 HOST FAMILIES : Antibes and Cannes ROOMS: Double rooms or in single rooms (at a supplement).* MEALS: From Monday to Friday, students will have lunch at the school after lessons. A packed lunch is provided during weekend's excursions days. All other meals will be taken with the host family. HOUSEKEEPING: Sheets (but not towels) will be provided by the host family and will be changed once a week. The student is responsible for keeping his/her room reasonably clean and tidy. Students can ask their host family to use their washing machine at a cost of 2 per load to be paid directly to the family. Note : *If the students have to share a room, we will do our best to place them with other student of similar age, but who has not the same mother language. ACTIVITIES AND SUPERVISION Everyday after the lessons and meals, we offer a varied program of excursions and/or activities (no excursion on the weekends of your arrival and departure). All are organized and supervised by our specialized tour leaders. EACH WEEK: Excursions: - One full-day excursion - Two half-day excursions or organized activities off campus (The intensive sailing program in Hyères includes 5 half days of sailing at a supplement.) Afternoons activities: - Our tour leaders organize various activities such as: Sport tournaments, games, themed activities, entertainment, French films... - A shuttle service will also be available if students wish to go to the beach or to the city centre, except for Cannes school which is at walking distance from the beaches and the city center. 31

32 Evenings activities : - One barbecue evening - One disco or thematic evening (at the Atoll junior premises) - Entertainment evenings: our tour leaders organize games and fun activities such as cabaret, casino, games, Olympic games, shows... (Lighter evening activities for students accommodated in family.) KIOSK ACTIVITIES (to be booked and paid for on the spot): In addition to our activity program, there is a choice of extra activities such as water-skiing, horse-riding, paragliding These activities are provided by carefully selected national instructors or adequately qualified external providers to ensure the greatest standards of safety. Arrivals are on Sundays and departures are on Saturdays, however, it is possible to reserve one extra day upon arrival and/or before departure (at a supplement). No class on the day of arrival as this first day is dedicated to the information meeting, the visit of the city and the placement tests. No class on public holidays, lessons are neither replaced nor refunded. Please make sure we receive the compulsory arrival & departure, going out and health form prior to the student s arrival. You can also use your own form, as long as all mandatory information requested (see our form) are mentioned. 32
