2 2 Ted s Snappy Chatter: Thank you to all the folks who came to the December 12 th swearing in ceremonies at the club. We had a very good turn out. I sat in with Fred Whitman and Ellen McKay at SMWYC as they put together the cruising schedule for the upcoming year. There are quite a few, and with us combining with SMWYC, it can only make for bigger and better cruises. We went to the combined New Year s Eve Party over at SMWYC and had a great time. PMYC had a big turn out, at least half the crowd was from our club. The food was good and the band (Good Cop Bad Cop) was great. Thanks to Bob Gonzales and Linda Thoresen, along with Mary Ellen for decorating their club. Next up is the Installation Ball on the 20 th of this month at the Harbor House Restaurant. I sure hope you all can make it. When ya get there and see some tall guy ya don t recognize, it will be me wearing my new tux. I hope I can find my dancin shoes. Time for bed, back to my bed of nails. Ted Woolery, Your humble servant and Commodore. Hey there PMYC. It is us the Maxwell's in Costa Rica, just checking in to let you know we are doing fine and the weather is fantastic, no fishing yet, but we keep busy with the new restaurant. We have opened for breakfast and are going to lease the Bar and Dinner portion of the restaurant, so as to have more time to go fishing. Mike is planning on coming back on the 26th of January to finish up and bring the boat down. Have any information on an Agent he may be able to contact, to help him facilitate the trip? Also, we are looking for one more to go on the trip. Experienced of course. We will see you in the southern hemisphere. Pura Vida Kelly

3 3 Hello fellow members! I would like to take the opportunity to thank you BUT I still don t know how I got to be the Fleet Captain for The by-laws states, The Fleet Captain shall assist the Commodore in the discharge off his duties. The Fleet Captain shall be the executive officer of the Commodore in all-racing and cruising activities of the Club, included in but not limited to the duties of Fleet captain is the responsibility for all Racing & Cruising activities of the Club. That s sounds very scary but I think I can handle it. We have a great race committee for the races. We have an awesome Cruise Chairman (Fred Whitman) who has already planned the year of cruises. PMYC anglers are ready to put their lines in the water Super Bowl weekend for the first fishing challenge of the year. Well that s that. My year is over. Don t forget to be ready with a nice and clean boat and a lots of good treats for me during the fleet inspection in March. Then we have the issue with the news letter. I m still looking for someone to take over the editing of The Log. I will assist you and help you as much as I can. I ve never been much of a writer so don t expect any long articles from me. See you guys! Kent Andersson, Fleet Captain / Editor

5 5 Dear Friends! Once again the holidays are upon us and we think of faraway friends and family! Long Tall Sally has had a wonderful year traveling through French Polynesia, the Northern Cooks, Tuvalu, The Kiribati Republic and presently, the Marshalls. We are currently in Majuro, planning on waiting out the cyclone season in the South, and then proceeding back down to Fiji and Tonga in April and May. Majuro celebrates Xmas quite enthusiasticallythere was a parade on Saturday and Santa tossed buckets of goodies to all the children following the float with big plastic bags! May 2007 find you all healthy and happy in your various pursuits. To those of you who are cruisers-may we meet again soon in an anchorage down the way! Please continue to keep in touch-we love hearing from you! (Please remember, too, not to hit the reply button as it overloads the ham system we use. and makes our download time twice as long) Happy Holidays! 6 6 I ll Be Home for Christmas: To Be White or To Be West, That is the Question Cheers loyal readers, and happy holiday greetings from the east coast. As another year of excitement and fond memories comes to a close, we look back on the moments that will stay with us forever. The ones that made us laugh, the ones that made us cry, and even the ones that changed our lives. This past month in particular was one to remember for its spirited events and united members, despite the changes and chaos of the holidays. Take a trip back in time with me as I recall the tidings of the season The month of December kicked off with the annual Marina del Rey Christmas boat parade, featuring PMYC s own Dave and Tina Smith. The ever-impressive "piratey" duo did it again with their glitzy and glamorous rendition of a buccaneer Christmas, winning the prize for Best Individual Boat. A special thanks goes out to Leon Milhoun of the Prowler for once again being a most hospitable host during the events of the evening. Even the Lady Washington (more commonly known as The Black Pearl) was in attendance for this watery festival of lights. With a little help from her hard-working elves behind the scenes, Kia Andersson put together an afternoon of tots and toys and fun all around. Bob and Helene Smith left no little tummy empty as they cooked up a storm in the kitchen, and Tina Michel s arts and craft project of decorating t-shirts was a huge success. Nick and Nicole were busy buying the last minute gifts, which were then speedily wrapped with the help of Brenda and Kathy Harnett. And the beautiful Tweety piñata from Gonzo certainly packed a punch amongst the youngsters, mostly from the quarters generously donated by Bob Leger. Last, but certainly not least, the party would not have been complete without a special appearance from Santa himself, and who better to play the part than our own Larry Koch, escorted by Santa s helpers, Kerry Maines and myself. Not a toddler left without a twinkle in his or her eye and toy in hand, and I think Mrs. Andersson most definitely deserves a huge round of applause. Kudos Kia! As I sit at my computer within these four walls that I have known my whole life, I think about this past year and all the changes I ve seen as well as undergone. I am grateful for all of those that have embraced me as one of their own at Pacific Mariner s Yacht Club, and made my transition to west-coast living a smooth one, as I consider all of you my extended family in my new home away from home. I d also like to thank Kent Andersson for giving me the opportunity to speak my mind on more than one occasion by printing my articles for all the members to read. With 2006 rapidly drawing to a close and 2007 upon us, here is my final wish for a year just as successful as this one, as well as my resolution to continue bringing everyone the latest word on happenings at the club. So concludes a chapter of PMYC, and that s all the word around the bird for now. Until next time loyal readers Happy New Year s! Written by, Elyssa Julienne Infurna Don t forget Friday night dinners. (The general meeting will be the 2;nd Friday each month.) So step up. Is it your turn to cook? Show off your cooking skills and have a fun evening with your fellow members. Sign-up sheet on the galley door.
