1 TRANSPORTATION QUARTERLY REVIEW CITY OF HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA Volume 19, Issue 2 A publication of the City of Huntsville Planning Division January 2013 Construction in the MPO Area Reflects Commitment to Infrastructure Improvements Numerous transportation projects were completed in the Huntsville metropolitan area during fiscal year These projects reflect a sizable investment in infrastructure using federal, State, and local funds. The commitment of these resources yielded major road improvements that provided for resurfacing, signalization, and increased capacity in the amount of over $39.4 million. These improvements, scheduled to be completed this fiscal year are: State Route 251 from US 31 in Athens, Alabama to its end in Ardmore, Alabama Resurfacing and realignment of Wall Triana Highway and Harvest Road Jeff Road from US 72 West northward to Huntsville City Limits Resurfacing of I-565 from Madison County Line to 1.9 miles west into Limestone County Alabama Highway 53 from Research Park Boulevard to south of Jeff Road Research Park Boulevard Bridge at Alabama Highway 53 Church Street from Pratt Avenue to Oakwood Avenue Intersection Improvements/Transition Lane at Dug Hill Road and US 431 Adaptive Signal Project on Governors Drive from Gallatin Street to Bassett Drive A map of the current projects is available on page 3.
