2 General Camp Information Registration Information The City of Miamisburg is excited to present its 2018 summer camp series. Each camp will provide its own excitement, challenges and experiences that will create lifelong memories for children during their summer break. Parents can be assured the health and safety of each camper is the top priority for all staff. Registration Begins January 2 Traditional & Full Camps Parent Manual/Medical Forms Upon registration, parents will receive a manual that provides important information including location of camps, arrival and departure times, what to bring and leave home from camp, severe weather policy, drop-off and pick-up policy, illness/sick policy and the campers code of conduct that should be reviewed with each camper. First Street First Baptist Church: 323 N. 11th Street Miamisburg Community Center: At the time of registration, a 25% deposit is required for each session and each child registered. The remaining balance is due in full two weeks prior to the camp start date. Locations Drop Off and Pick Up Multiple Child Discount A $20 per week per additional child discount will be applied to the registration fee for those registering more than one child in the same household for the same week of camp. The multiple child discount does not apply when registering children in different weeks of camp. Camp Inclusion Opportunities Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to sign up for our general camps and programs. The department will make reasonable accommodations to ensure the participant can participate in our programs. There is a specific process that is followed to provide accommodations. Upon registering you will need to complete our Special Need Accommodation Process. This can take up to two weeks to complete, and must be completed before registering for camps. To ensure our participants have the best experience please contact us at at least two weeks prior to the camp starting date. Children must be 3 and potty trained by the first day of camp. Fee: $ Character Camps INCREDIBLE SUPERHERO CAMP Develop your own superhero identity and compete in various challenges to gain strength, speed, agility and intelligence. Campers will see Incredibles 2 in theaters, visit our community superheroes at the police and fire station and learn to fly at Sky zone TENNIS CAMP Ages 6-14 Swing into Tennis Camp! For the beginner or intermediate tennis player, this week long camp will help develop hand-eye coordination and teach basic forehand, backhand and service motions. Campers will learn the basic grip, and stance for serves, volleys and ground strokes. Fee: $80 Location: South Regency Tennis Center 1:00-4:00 pm :00-4:00 pm Ages 3-17 This soccer curriculum includes a variety of foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, freestyle soccer, small-sided games and coached scrimmages. World Cup style games are held each day where campers compete for their adopted country and are encouraged to learn about different customs and cultures, and core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership. Camp will include a free soccer ball, T-shirt, Poster and Certificate. Location: Medlar Soccer Complex AGES 3-5 Fee: $85 8:00-8:45 am AGES :00 am-noon AGES 6-17 Fee: $ Train with us to become the ultimate Pokémon Master in Pokémon Battle Camp! Learn how to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game, design your very own creatures and go on a hunt to find Pokémon because we Gotta catch em all! Enjoy crafts, games and activities all related to Pokémon. Fee: $120 July 30-Aug Calling all younglings and padawan to Star Wars Martial Arts Summer Camp! Train like the Jedi, make your own light saber, dress up as your favorite Star Wars character and use the force to break a board. Fee: $70 Location: Maddux Lang Primary Learn to swim like a mermaid/merman. Each day will begin with a 30 minute swim lesson followed by crafts, games and lunch. The afternoon will consist of aquatic activities and time for free swim. Each week will feature a splash-tastic field trip. Both second and first years are welcome, dress in Hogwarts attire and be ready to make new potions and cast new spells recreating the magical experiences of the Harry Potter world REDS CAMP Ages 6-14 This is the seventh year of the Official Camps of the Reds and the first time in Miamisburg. In addition to 30 hours of pro-grade instruction, each participant will receive a full Reds uniform, four tickets to a Reds game, a VIP at Great American Ball Park and will meet a current Reds player. Join the golf professionals at PipeStone Golf Course and learn how to swing, chip and putt through various drills and stations. For the older camper, game improvement drills, golf etiquette, rules and golf course safety will also be taught. Golf clubs are provided or bring your own! Bring a water bottle and snack. Instructor: Abrakadoodle Fee: $ PLANET EARTH & IT'S ECOSYSTEMS Ages 9-13 Discover the wonders and vast ecosystems of Planet Earth. Campers will fish, hike, participate in scientific labs, explore endangered species complete a hands-on owl pellet dissection and watch the movie Hoot Come out and experience this fast paced fun and exciting dance camp that will give kids the chance to enjoy Zumba, cardio fitness and DANCE. Kids will learn new dance moves and choreography each day. Instructor: Richie McKeever with Quest Dance Center THEATER CAMP Ages 7-15 Discover your hidden theatrical talent as you join us for two weeks of dance, vocals, theatre and fun. Campers will work on developing a character and bringing them to life. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the stage performance at Riverfront Park on July 20. This camp will work on story boards and learn techniques with hands on equipment and various cameras IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE! Jump with us into this jungle adventure! Bring your best imagination and learn about the rainforest while you create animals, insects, reptiles, flowers and much more. Learn new art techniques and create friendly sloths, toucans, snakes, and piranhas. Find inspiration in the rainforest habitat and its people while you hear about their customs and create a tree house collage. We will have a wild time creating fun art projects, making new friends and playing games! Fee: $235 10:00 am-4:00 PM ALGEBRA IN ACTION Ages This camp is all about Math! Campers will gain a better understanding of algebra through brain teasers and a variety of games! ONE DAY TEEN TRIPS Ages Kings Island Bring your friends and experience some of the tallest, fastest and wildest roller coasters in Ohio. Fee includes admission to the park and transportation. If you have a season pass fee is $25. Bring a lunch, sunscreen and money to purchase meals on your own. If your child wishes to use the water park bring a swimsuit. Min. 10 / Max. 13 Fee: $55 F July 6 8:00 am-6:00 pm Ozone Zipline Adventure Bring your friends and complete the largest zip lining tour in the Midwest. After we will hike and raft along the Little Miami River. Fee includes transportation, and admissions for Zip lining and rating. Things to Bring: a lunch, sunscreen and money to purchase meals on your own and a swimsuit. Min. 9/ Max. 13 M July 2 9:00 am-5:00 pm JR. LIFEGUARD Ages Future lifeguards will be introduced into the real world of lifeguarding by learning water safety, drowning prevention, surveillance, emergency response, rescue skills, professionalism and leadership. CPR and First Aid certifications will be awarded upon completion. Fee: $95 Location: Sycamore Trails Aquatic Center July 23-Aug. 3 9:00-10:00 am IMPACT COUNSELOR IN TRAINING Ages MAD CHEMIST Ages Explore basic concepts in chemistry that includes fun labs investigating water, heat and the periodic table. Activities include building models of molecules and exploring the properties of water Extreme Teen Trips & Camps PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP Ages In partnership with Red Brick Photography, campers will learn the basics of point-and-shoot photography with a digital camera to take amazing outdoor photos. A gallery open house is held at the conclusion of camp. All campers are responsible for providing their own digital camera. Instructor: Red Brick Photography Fee: $ If you are a young adult looking to gain experience, learn responsibility and become a positive role model, then check out IMPACT Counselor in Training. This program will teach essential life skills in a job like setting. Each week you will attend a job training session focused on interviewing, resume writing and leadership skills.
