Collect all Scout & Leader medical forms, including CO supplemental, (ensure that we will be able to keep a copy) and Scout medication forms. You may send copies (NOT originals) of all these to camp. Check up on each Scout s pre-camp advancement work. Make final advancement changes up until two weeks prior to camp. Hold an inspection of personal packs and equipment. Also, prepare unit equipment for camp. Prepare multiple copies of your unit roster for camp and other leaders. Complete the final check on transportation to ensure everyone has a ride to and from camp. Remind the Scouts of the behavior standards necessary for a Scouting trip. Remind the Scouts to pack a lunch for the day you arrive unless you plan to stop. Plan to arrive between 1:30 and 2:00 PM. Collect any remaining medical forms (copy each one and bring two copies) and ensure everyone has their medications in their original containers with a label containing the Scout s name and unit number. Ensure rides will be at camp to pick Scouts up before 11:00 AM on the following Saturday. The leaders (one of which needs to be 21 or older) who will be staying at camp should have some camping and Scouting experience. All leaders in attendance must be registered with the BSA. Please provide a roster with leaders highlighted/noted. Have one additional Leader, 18 or older (male or female) for every 10 Scouts. Complete an approved swim check before coming to camp (see page 7 to find out more) or come to camp ready for a swim test during program hours. If you mailed in the medical forms, your campsite host will have them for medical rechecks. It is recommended that first year Scouts should take Baden-Powell and one or two simple merit badges in their free time such as Basketry or Fingerprinting.Second year Scouts who aren t First Class should sign up for Baden-Powell and merit badges. Be aware that those who go white water rafting on Wednesday will have to make up work on Friday morning. All Scouts should be given a copy of their advancement schedule. Leaders should also have copies for easy reference. Schedule merit badges/activities carefully to allow travel time in between. All Scouts should be made aware of prerequisites. All Scouts should read the merit badge pamphlet(s) before coming to camp. SISR Leaders Guide

The Commissioner Staff serves to help your troop, crew and your Scouts to access everything SISR has to offer. Campsite hosts are ambassadors to your troop. Feel free to visit the Camp Commissioner anytime to get questions answered. The Camp Commissioner or your campsite host can help your troop with several programs including the Delta Patrol and Honor Unit award. The daily Scout Leader Meetings are for all adults in camp and are held at 9:30 AM each day. Attendance at the daily meetings is highly encouraged. The purpose of these meetings is to answer your questions, allow staff to receive feedback, coordinate program resources and schedules, provide Scout skill training, have fun and provide leaders an opportunity to enjoy each other's fellowship. The SPL s from each troop will meet with the Program Director to discuss daily activities and camp-wide events. They will also plan and coordinate the Friday evening closing campfire. In an effort to lessen our impact on our environment and to keep wildlife away from your troop site, we will pick up any trash you have accumulated during the day each night. Please leave the trash bagged at the road no later than 7:00pm. Our staff will come and get the trash and leave you with additional trash bags. With wildlife present, it is important to keep trash to a minimum Wireless Internet will be available to those who need it on the porch of the headquarters building. Wi-Fi is not available for scouts to play games, it should be used for a legitimate purpose. The Wi-Fi in the A-Frame is password protected to ensure that the office staff can conduct necessary business functions. A landline is available for those who need it for urgent and emergency situations. With only one outgoing landline, the phone is necessary to conduct business, and it should only be used with permission from the Camp Director or office staff. Scouts and leaders can fish at Wilbur Ladd Lake on camp or take a short trip to the larger Lake Isabel to fish. A limited number of fishing poles and equipment is available to rent or purchase from the camp trading post. Colorado Fishing Licenses are required for persons age 14 and over. Licenses can be purchased at The Lodge at Lake Isabel. A one-day license costs $9, or a fiveday license costs $21. SISR Leaders Guide

The Trading Post will be open at various times throughout the day. Specific hours will be posted. Here you will find all the merchandise you need, including everything from hats and shirts to collectibles. You will also be able to purchase additional toiletries, cooking supplies, and other camping necessities. You will be able to purchase candy, soda, and any other food items. The porch and picnic tables are there for you to enjoy your snacks. Please have your Scouts clean up after themselves! Shower buildings are located near main camp with individual showering rooms for privacy. Handicap accessible rooms are available. Units should sign up in the A-Frame to help keep the shower buildings clean. Campers need to bring all their own toiletries or purchase them at our Trading Post. A washer and dryer are available for unit for emergencies only. Please see the camp director for access. Open 24 hours a day in the Camp Headquarters. For medication disbursement, the Health Office will be open a half-hour before and after each meal, and one hour prior to lights out. Individual arrangements can be made if necessary. Please ensure that your Scouts are responsible in this matter. We recommend that one Leader be responsible for ensuring the Scouts receive their meds when they are supposed to. For information on medical forms, see page 15. For the safety of the Scouts and Scouters, the speed limit on all camp roads is 5 mph. After supper on Sunday, all vehicles (Except one per campsite for smellables) must be in the parking lot until Saturday when vehicles are allowed back to the campsite to pack up. Parking is not permitted along the road if it interferes with traffic flow. Bikes must stay on camp roads, not walking trails. No bikes are allowed in main camp, program areas or in campsites. When not in use, bikes near the unit campsite will be stored off the road, near the latrine. Absolutely no riding after dusk without a light. All riders will maintain safe speeds, yield to pedestrians, wear a buckled helmet while riding and obey all signs. All riders will need to read and sign an agreement form available at the Program Center. Any rule infractions will result in the individual losing their privilege to ride on camp property. 13 Please have mail addressed in the manner to the right. You are encouraged to mail things several days early to ensure we receive it before checkout day. If there is an emergency family issue, please call or with the camper s name and unit number in the subject heading and the Camp Director will ensure that the camper receives the message. Any mail received after your Scout has left camp, will be marked Return to Sender and mailed promptly. (Camper s Name), (Unit #) San Isabel Scout Ranch Highway 165 Rye, CO Smoking is only allowed inside of vehicles at SISR, away from Scouts and other Leaders. For the health of all Scouts and Scouters, please respect the rights of all others and refrain from smoking in your campsite or any place other than inside of vehicles with windows rolled up. Due to a high wildfire risk and the health of scouts, infractions may result in expulsion. Any Scouts leaving camp during their unit s stay must have a release signed by their parent or guardian and approved by the Scout Leader. We recommend having this form (available online) completed before a Scout attends camp. When checking out, a member of the camp leadership must give the final approval signature. Unless noted otherwise, participation in Rocky Mountain Council activities, you agree to allow Rocky Mountain Council to use your image in camp and council promotional materials. Address In the operation of the summer camp program, no child, as defined by program regulations, will be discriminated against because of race, sex, color, age, national origins, or handicap. All visitors must check in and out at the camp office and be approved by camp administration prior to arrival. Visitors are not allowed between the hours of 10:00 PM and 7:30 AM. Persons with disabilities should notify SISR prior to their arrival. Guest meal tickets may be purchased for $5 per meal in the office. All Visitors must abide by all camp policies and may be asked to leave if they are found to be a disruption to the program. SISR Leaders Guide

A camp-wide emergency situation will consist of any severe weather, wildfire, lost or missing campers, lost or missing swimmers, and any possible severe medical emergency. Anyone who becomes aware of an emergency situation or danger should notify the nearest staff member who will contact the appropriate camp leadership. In the event of a camp-wide emergency, the camp siren may sound. At which time, all campers should report immediately to the Dining Hall and await further instruction from the camp staff. The camp staff undergoes training in handling common types of emergencies. Any information in regards to a bomb threat or unauthorized visitor should be reported to the Camp Administration immediately. Units are prohibited from bringing firewood into camp because it can harbor many different kinds of invasive pests and diseases harmful to our trees. Pests like gypsy moths and diseases like oak wilt are easily spread through infested firewood. Units can gather downed wood or purchase firewood from camp. Fireguard charts are furnished for each campsite and must be filled out upon check-in. The ability to have fires in the campsite will be directly affected by fire bans. San Isabel is in an extremely high fire danger area and has frequently been under a fire ban. If fires are permitted, they must be in the campsites and only in the established fire pit. At least one adult must supervise the fire at all times. No animals are allowed on camp properties except for guide dogs for the visually impaired or animals which are for a program/demonstration and have prior approval of the Camp Director. All items that are lost at camp will be held in the A-Frame until the end of the session. If an item is left at camp after your unit has left, the item(s) will be shipped after receiving postage. SISR Leaders Guide

Good camp health is based on knowledge of the physical conditions of everyone who comes to camp. All Participants (adult & youth) are required by Colorado Law to submit the BSA Health Form, Parts A-C and the COLORADO IMMUNIZATION supplement (Can be found in the Forms section at the end of this guide make copies) We are required to retain one copy permanently, so make two copies one for you, one for us. The form must be current within one year of arrival at camp and the health history must be updated within ninety (90) days before arrival at camp. This form may be downloaded from the council web site All adults and youth members attending San Isabel Scout Ranch should consult their physician if they have any health issues that may affect their safety or enjoyment of San Isabel Scout Ranch. Our Health Lodge is equipped with supplies to handle most injuries in camp. A Health Officer is on-site and available 24 hours a day to handle most emergencies. Emergency services may be called to assist with serious injuries or other emergencies. San Isabel Scout Ranch does not carry camper health and accident insurance for out-ofcouncil troops. The Scoutmaster must provide San Isabel Scout Ranch with verification of insurance coverage for your troop, which must include the policy number and at least one claim form. If your troop does not carry accident insurance, individual private insurance numbers and claim forms (for each Scout and leader) are acceptable. Under Colorado State Law, anyone bringing medication to camp must follow certain procedures. ALL MEDICATIONS (for both youth and adults) must be turned in to the Health Officer upon arrival at camp: this includes prescription medications and over-the counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements; does not include personal emergency medication. (i.e. epipens, inhalers, nitroglycerin pills etc.) All medication must be in the original container, marked with the camper s name and Troop number. To speed the process of medicine check-in, parents and adults can fill out the Routine Drug Administration Record found in the forms section of this guide for each Scout and Adult that will be taking medications during their stay at camp. Medications will be returned to the troop adult leader at the end of the camping week. Only Health Lodge Staff may dispense medication to Adults and Scouts while at SISR. SISR Leaders Guide

San Isabel Scout Ranch is located at 9,000 feet above sea level. It may take several days to acclimate to the higher altitude. All Scouts and Scout leaders should be physically prepared for the elevation of the Rocky Mountains. Symptoms of altitude sickness can become evident within two hours of arrival at camp. These symptoms can include headache, dizziness, and nausea. Any of these symptoms should be reported to the Camp Health Lodge as soon as possible. These symptoms typically subside within a day or two. We recommend that troops coming from lower altitudes spend Saturday night camping along the front range of the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 4,500-6,000 feet to gradually acclimate to the 9,000 foot elevation at camp. Drink at least 2 liters of water per day! Dehydration is a serious health concern that may be easily prevented. All campers are encouraged to drink water frequently. Soda pop is not an effective substitute. Everyone should carry a personal water bottle and consume no less than 4 full bottles per day. SISR and its residents are fortunate to share their corner of the Wet Mountains with local wildlife. Black bears are some of the most spectacular, but misunderstood animals found in the Wet Mountains. It is important to remember that we are visitors to the bears natural habitat and we should treat them with the respect they deserve. There are bears in the area. Dangerous encounters can be avoided easily, with proper preparation. This means Scouts and leaders should not keep food or other "smellables" (e.g. deodorant, toothpaste, etc) in their campsites unsecured. The staff of SISR recommends that smellables be stored in a troop trailer in your campsite. If you are not arriving at camp with a trailer, arrangements can be made with staff. Please avoid the use of bear bags, and avoid leaving food items in unattended automobiles parked in the SISR Parking Lot. Summer storms occasionally strike San Isabel Scout Ranch, bringing lighting with them. During a thunderstorm head for cover, stay away from tall trees, wires, and plumbing. Get out of open spaces like the lake and meadow, and stay away from the flagpoles. At high altitude, sunburn can occur at a much faster rate than at sea level due to having less of the atmosphere to protect you. SPF 30 or above is recommended for use, especially on the face. Sunglasses with UV protection and wide brim hats are recommended. Be prepared! SISR Leaders Guide

The campsites have many new tent platforms, canvas wall tents, picnic tables, and a concrete latrine. Each site is equipped for approximately 30 people. Campsites are assigned upon arrival. If you have special requests, please submit 2 weeks prior to arrival to the Camp Director so we can accommodate your needs. Located in the center of camp -come and enjoy the great food our cook has prepared for you. Because of the capacity of the dining hall, some larger weeks eat meals in shifts. Located next to the Dining hall in the center of camp. All medications are secured and dispensed here and the camp health officer administers first aid. Required by CO law & BSA. Located behind the Camp Office (A-Frame), where your Commissioner can arrange for all sorts of gear for use by your Troop, such as gear for service projects, overnight outpost camping, or for games. Our brand new shower house has 16 individual locking stalls with changing areas. The showers are open 24 hours to all. To help us enforce Youth Protection Guidelines, please prohibit cell phones/cameras from being taken into the shower house by adults or youth. Leaders may use the dining hall to charge devices such as phones, laptops or tablets, but SISR is not responsible for damage to unattended items. Please consider leaving these devices at home if you do not need them. Located next to the Health lodge in the center of camp, the San Isabel Scout Ranch Trading Post Staff works very hard to provide Scouts and Leaders with all of their program needs, a variety of snacks, and a large variety of souvenirs. The Trading post is open during program hours, and other times as noted. A typical Scout spends about $50 while at camp. SISR Leaders Guide

Food service has been made a top priority. Due to feedback from unit leaders and Scouts, we have put together an excellent menu, excellent staff, and quality product. See our website for a detailed menu. A brand new area to SISR, the Maintenance program area offers new merit badges with an emphasis on trades skills and valuable life skills. In an effort to provide the highest quality program, SISR will offer online merit badge registration. This will allow our staff to better prepare for Scouts, and a guarantee that your Scouts will have the attention they need. To reduce confusion and headaches amongst Scouts, we will be offering inclusive billing with merit badges with associated costs. See our website for details. We have evaluated our Outpost program and are proud to announce an excellent high adventure program to our older scouts. See the Outpost Section for more details. We are proud to announce the offering of Sustainability merit badge. Launched at the National Jamboree in 2013, this is a brand new merit badge, so be sure to sign up for a unique opportunity to earn an eagle optional merit badge new to the BSA. SISR Leaders Guide

Because interests and needs of troops and crews vary, just like those of different Scouts, the delivery of the camp program offering is structured to allow for as much flexibility as possible. Approximately 40 experienced Scouts and Scout Leaders are invited to serve on the camp staff each summer. In order to connect Scouts and Troops with this tremendous resource, the council has elected to use a scheduled program delivery format that puts Troops in the driver s seat as much as possible by presenting popular merit badges at least twice a day. One of the goals of this program is to encourage the use of the patrol method by allowing Patrols and Troops the freedom to schedule activities during the week. Merit badge Counselors and Instructors are available in their program areas to work with Scouts between 9:00 am-12:00 pm and 2:00-5:00 pm, and other times as arranged each day, except during Friday afternoon. Our staff continually works to ensure manageable class sizes for all of our merit badges that are offered. Class sizes are kept at a manageable size to ensure that all Scouts have the equipment and resources needed to learn new skills. New for 2014, Merit Badge Registration will be completed online in an effort to provide the best possible program for scouts. Registration for advancement and leader training can be done online beginning April 15th. Instructions can be found in the online help file available on our website. Units are encouraged to complete advancement registration before coming to camp. Slots will be filled on a first come first served basis. Be sure to check the website for up to date information. When you arrive at camp, you will get a print out of all your Scouts/Scouters and what merit badges/activities they are registered for. You will have the afternoon to look the advancement printout over and bring any changes (additions, deletions, etc.) to the Adult Leader meeting Sunday evening. Our staff will then enter any corrections into the database. Blue cards can be distributed in the advancement mailboxes in Camp Office. Please indicate the time when the merit badge/activity is going to be taken on the top of the blue card just above the Scout s address. SISR Leaders Guide

The Baden-Powell Area is SISR s First-Year Camper Program. Lord Baden-Powell once said...the aim of Scouting is to produce good First Class Scouts. The Baden-Powell concept is designed for new Boy Scouts who are working on achieving their Tenderfoot, Second Class or First Class Ranks. The camp staff encourages new Scouts to focus their energy on rank advancement. The staff assists your Scouts in learning skills that will help them to complete many of the requirements toward First Class Rank. Please remember that a review of a Scout s progress toward rank remains the responsibility of your troop s leadership. 29 Our Camp uses the National B.S.A. Blue Card system. Each Scout must submit a completely filled out Blue Card (Name, Troop Number, and Merit Badge Name) signed by the Scoutmaster, the first time they attend a class. The Scoutmaster s signature indicates that Scout has permission to take part in the merit badge session. Please remember to have Blue Cards filled out completely. We cannot guarantee that Blue Cards will be returned to the correct unit and individual if information is missing. Thursday evening, all the area directors will hold a leader roundtable. At this roundtable, leaders will have the opportunity to check on the status and progress of their Scouts in all merit badges and the Baden-Powell program. This allows for discrepancies to be cleared up and so leaders will know what their Scouts will need to work on during Merit Badge Makeup on Friday morning. Friday evening, a similar roundtable will be held allowing for troop leadership to pick up their troop s Blue Cards for the week. All the area directors will be available to answer any questions you may have at that time. It is much easier to do this Friday night than when you are packing up and ready to leave on Saturday! 30 Scouts and leaders staying at San Isabel Scout Ranch can raft the Arkansas River at Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base (RMHAB) in Poncha Springs, Colorado. Our whitewater rafting experience pits you against the roaring Arkansas River as it fights its way through the amazing Rocky Mountains. This is a great opportunity to expose your scouts to the challenges of whitewater rafting while preparing them for the next step in scouting, High Adventure! After receiving training from our certified River Guides, your crew will join them for a morning or afternoon of exciting often times wet whitewater rafting. At a length of 1,459 miles, the Arkansas River is the 4th longest river in the United States and the 16th longest on the planet. The source of the river is near Leadville, Colorado on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains. The river flows in a southeasterly direction through Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, joining the Mississippi River at Memphis, Tennessee. This is a beginner rafting program but is sure to fill your need for adventure! You will learn to navigate your raft, read the river and feel the power of whitewater rapids. You will get wet! Lunch will be served at the Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base, either before or after your trip. The memories you will build riding the Arkansas Whitewater will last you and your Scouts a lifetime! The Arkansas River is one of the most exciting whitewater rivers in the country. Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base will provide whitewater rafting guide service on Wednesday as one of our fee-based programs. The additional fee to participate in this program is $45 per person and will include lunch and whitewater merit badge instruction. Youth must be accompanied by an adult leader to provide supervision while on the water. Ride the river as it plummets through the Rocky Mountains near Salida, Colorado. Transportation between San Isabel Scout Ranch and Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base is a unit responsibility. Plan to leave San Isabel by 6:00 a.m. for the morning trip or 10:00 am for the afternoon trip to make the 2-hour trip to Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base. BSA swim checks are required for participation. No minimum age required. All participants must meet the National High Adventure Height/weight Requirements SISR Leaders Guide

The SISR Outpost program is an extension of our resident program. SISR and the Wet Mountain Range possess resources especially suited for this program. The beauty of the mountains, rivers and forests inspire Scouts and complement the Outpost adventure. The Outdoor Code is essential here in Colorado. The Outpost program is designed for older Scouts and/or Venturers that have already been to summer camp and do not need to work on merit badges. This is a special opportunity that should be reserved for your more veteran scouts. Participants registered for Outpost will not be able to earn any merit badges. Our staff is trained and ready to teach outdoor skills, offer ideas, and model the Scout spirit you want your boys to value. The Outpost camp runs Monday through Friday during the SISR camp week. All meals will be provided for Outpost Scouts. Scouts will join the rest of the camp to participate in the weeks closing activities. The cost for Outpost camp is an additional $75 per person. Scouts will enjoy their Outpost adventure with this proposed schedule (subject to change): Mon. Tues. Wed. Thurs. 9-10a Participant 10- Hike in SISR San White Water choice 11a Isabel Lake Rafting 11- Tomahawk throwing Mtn. Bike 12a LUNCH TIME 2-3p Mtn. Bike White Water Mtn. Bike Blacksmithing 3-4p Rafting, SISR Geocaching 4-5p Fishing Hike or other Included in the $75 fee for outpost is a whitewater rafting trip, with transportation provided by the Outpost staff. Due to transportation needs and the limited number of seats in our vehicles, this year the number of Scouts able to sign up for Outpost is limited to 10. Several overnight and special programs will be offered to those enrolled in Outpost. SISR Leaders Guide

Each patrol is encouraged to earn the Delta Patrol award. The award is designed to reinforce the patrol method in camp, and is the most important component of the Honor Troop Award. Every patrol that earns the Delta Patrol award will receive a special patch for their patrol flag. Every troop has the opportunity to be an Honor Unit at San Isabel Scout Ranch. Troops completing a series of patrol-related activities will earn the Honor Troop Award. The award is a ribbon to hang on your troop flag. Your campsite commissioner will sign off each item in consultation with other camp staff. On Friday afternoon your patrol or troop will have the opportunity to participate in our new Cuerno Verde Classic. This revised relay race will be a challenge for all members of your unit. Every Scout will have the opportunity to put their Scouting skills and physical fitness to the test in the great event. There will be lots of running and a visit to most of the Program Areas at camp. There is even a special activity at the end for the Scoutmaster! Awards will be given for first, second, and third place at our closing campfire on Friday evening. The highlight of many Scouts weeks is the cardboard canoe races. Each competing team will be given a set amount of cardboard and duct tape to construct the best vessel possible manned by at least one scout. The teams then race their boats on Wilbur Ladd Lake. Prizes are awarded for the best time and best design. If members of your Troop are Arrowmen, be sure they bring their sash and wear it on Wednesday. It s their ticket to a special OA event that evening. Wednesday night gives Scouts a chance to rekindle the values of Scouting and rededicate themselves to the Scout Law. Just around sundown, Troops are encouraged to take part on our honor trail down one of the camp s scenic trails. After gaining new perspective on the Scout Law, participants will enter an open meadow to witness an impressive Order of the Arrow Callout. If your troop has any Scouts or Scouters who have been elected to become part of the Order of the Arrow and would like to have their Callout at SISR, please bring documentation evidencing their election. Proper documentation will be either sent with the troop or to your local OA lodge showing that a Callout has been performed for the deserving Scouts or Scouters. One morning, at around 5:30am, get a chance to hike up to Dome Rock and see the sunrise over the beautiful Rocky Mountain landscape! A great activity for early risers! 33 The SISR staff invites you to attend our Sunday night opening campfire and Friday night closing campfire. Come and enjoy skits and songs performed for your enjoyment. It is sure to be a great time. Actual fire will depend on fire bans in effect at the time. Troops should plan an evening campfire in the campsite on Thursday night. Units must obey all fire bans in effect. Troops will be invited to participate in the closing campfire on Friday night So come prepared with a skit or song! Each Scout unit is different, which is probably why the BSA keeps its recommendation on good taste for campfires pretty vague. The BSA says, Be sure that every feature of this campfire program upholds Scouting s highest traditions. In other words, how you apply the Scout Oath and Scout Law here is left open for interpretation. Of course, all skits or songs that use coarse language, disparage a certain demographic group, or involve inappropriate costumes should be banned outright. That said, don t overdo it with your red pen. Some of my best laughs at Scout campfires have been from skits that include good-natured ribbing of the Scoutmaster. If the laughs are at your expense, so be it! Coming up with the perfect litmus test isn t easy, but here s one idea: Before the campfire planning, ask all Scouts to pretend the skit/song is being video recorded. Would they be OK with their parents (or grandparents) seeing it? And in the YouTube generation, that s not such a stretch at all. (Tips from Bryan on Scouting blog on scouting.org) SISR Leaders Guide

What if you find yourself with nothing to do at camp? Our commissioner staff won t let that happen! We offer daily trips and activities to leaders during their stay at camp. Some options for activities include: hiking tour of camp (including some more secluded spots where you can enjoy the peace and quiet!), a sighting seeing trip to nearby Bishop s Castle, or possibly even a trip to the golf course. The schedule for the week is up to you! At the Monday adult meeting we will come to a consensus on the activities for your stay at SISR. The Scoutmaster Merit Badge recognizes the tremendous contribution adult leaders make to the camp and the Scouts in attendance. To qualify for the award, an adult leader must complete set requirements during the week. Applications for the award should be submitted during the Leader s Meeting on Friday morning. We understand that your own unit s interests are the number one priority, but we welcome your assistance to make SISR even better. We ask that you help contribute to the camp with any special skills that you have. Help is always appreciated within program areas, guarding on the Waterfront, and service projects. Throughout the week, units (including adults and Scouts) are welcome to challenge the staff or other units to some kind of competition. Anything from volleyball, cook-offs, ultimate frisbee, etc. are fair game. A brief meeting will be held on Monday morning after the leader meeting at the Maintenance Building located at the entrance to camp. During this meeting we will be going over projects and ideas for projects that anyone can help with. Tasks can be as complicated as fixing appliances to general construction and smaller projects geared for just about anyone that can help such as building picnic tables and painting. 35 Adult leader training which outlines the procedure for organizing BSA climbing/rappelling activities at a natural site or a specifically designed facility such as a climbing wall or tower. Designed to give you the confidence to respond in an emergency situation with skills that can save a life. Designed to sharpen camping and other outdoor skills so that leaders can deliver the outdoor portion of the Scouting program. IOLS is required for new Scoutmasters and assistants to be considered Trained. The course prepares leaders to teach the outdoor skills that Scouts need for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class. This course is also highly recommended for troop committee members, Webelos leaders, and leaders of venturing units. Participants receive introductory training in the skills and ethics of Leave No Trace. Topics include the underlying ethics and seven principles. Learn what it takes to safely operate aquatic programs within your troop. For all Scoutmasters and their assistants, this course introduces leaders to the basics of operating a troop. It includes troop organization, the patrol method, leadership, advancement and resources, and program planning. The BSA places the greatest importance on creating the most secure environment possible for our youth members. All Cub Scout and Boy Scout adult volunteers should take this course. It covers the BSA s Youth Protection policies, kinds of abuse, signs of abuse, how to respond to disclosure of abuse, and proper reporting procedures. SISR Leaders Guide
