1 Eagle Week 2017 What is Eagle week? Eagle Week is a week long summer camp adventure designed to focus on a scout s path to Eagle. Scouts will have the opportunity to work on Merit Badges including an expanded offering of Eagle Required merit badges. This week is perfect for highly motivated scouts who love the camp setting. Throughout the week the Troop will be visited by volunteers and public figures that will inspire and help the scouts along the way to attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Course: There will be 2 Eagle Weeks this year. Sunday July 2 to Saturday July 8 and Sunday July 30 to Saturday August 5. Both will take place at TL Storer Scout Reservation in Barnstead NH. Troop: Each course is limited to 50 participants. The scouts will act as a provisional troop for the week and will be broken down into patrols to participate in the patrol cooking program and the TL Storer afternoon program. Requirements: Scouts who attend Eagle Week should be at least 1 st class and have attended at least one week at a week long summer camp in the past. Boys who attend should be highly motivated and eager to advance upon the trail to becoming and Eagle Scout. As with all Merit Badge programs this should Boy initiated. Cost: The Cost is $475 per scout. This is a Northern NeXus specialty week and you can get 20% off by buying the New England Adventure Card. Deadline: The Deadline to sign up is the day each Eagle week starts. We need to input data ahead of time for the Merit Badge Scheduling system we use. Therefore, Merit Badge selection is required by June 2 nd. After June 2 nd Registrations for Eagle week are still welcome (space dependent) however there is a lower chance that you will receive all of the desired Merit Badges. Questions: Any questions may be directed to Eagle Week Director Bill McKinny at bmckinney@marathonphysicaltherapy.com and TL Storer Camp Director Cameron Anstey at Cameron.anstey@scouting.org Merit Badges: The Merit Badge Program for Eagle Week will run like a regular week at TL Storer Scout Reservation with the addition of an afternoon Merit Badge Block. Scouts will be able to choose from the Eagle Required Merit Badges or the Merit Badges traditionally offered at TL Storer. For the scheduling program we use you will select Merit Badges totaling 20 blocks including at least 1 Eagle Week Specific Badge. The number of blocks for each Merit Badge is listed at the end of this document and in parentheses on the registration Merit Badge selection page. Many of Eagle Week Badges have requirements that cannot be completed at camp. We highly encourage you to review the Merit Badge material prior to coming to Eagle Week. Some maybe completed prior to camp but remember if it says Discuss with your counselor before you do the requirement you need to discuss with your counselor BEFORE you do the requirements. Trail to Eagle: There will be a Trail to Eagle presentation sometime during the week. Use this as your opportunity to ask as many questions as you need to get on the right track to achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. This presentation focuses on the processes that you will need to follow including how to get your Eagle Project approved and what the other steps are. What to Bring: Bring everything that you would need for a regular week at camp including any Merit Badge books and pre-work for the badges you choose. Northern NeXus Packing List is on the following page.
